This whole thing is about as asinine as asinine gets. A personal, very personal battle between pro-Trumpers vs. anti-Trumpers. Between Trump vs. Schumer and Pelosi. What are they fighting over, why is the government shutdown? 5 billion dollars give or take. 5 billion out of the 4 trillion dollars this government will spend this year. That is 0.0125%. Somewhere between one one hundredth and two one hundredth of a sing percent. Crazy to the max. All grownups have left the room, heck, the building. the city, the country, this planet earth. We're left with to little kids fighting over a pile of money that doesn't mean a hill of beans.
Why? Personal ego of both sides? Love and Hate of the president, the political parties? Seems neither side gives a hoot about governing, running the country. Personal political vindictiveness have made both sides puff out their chests. Like three and four year olds, yes, no, yes, no, you can't have it, yes I can. Stupid to the max. Pure idiocy.
Why? Political partisanship and polarization of Washington. Party above country, for the good of the party, not the nation. If either side give one hoot about the nation, the country, a compromise would have occurred long before the shutdown. Bunch of little kids who don't give a darn about whether or not this is harming the country.
Polarization. Try to destroy the other side, leave no prisoners, unconditional surrender. You know who the two most polarized president are and were. Trump and Obama. Republicans tried to deny everything Obama wanted and tried, Democrats are trying to deny everything Trump wants or is trying. No merits or thoughts ever went into the legislation, what they were trying to do, just oppose. Good or bad for the country, just oppose because one or the other proposed it. Who gives an owl hoots about the country? Certainly not our elected leaders and parties in Washington D.C. Take a look at the most polarized presidents since 1945.

Now tell me, over the last 20 years it seems the country has fell to the 26th priority out of 25 for our major political parties. It's all about destroying the other party, the other party's president. Love and loyalty to political party, the nation be danged. No wonder both political parties are shrinking. In 2006 Democrats made up 36% of the electorate, Republicans 32% and independents 30%. Because of polarization, partisanship, those numbers to day are Democrats 30%, Republicans 26%, independents 43%.
Antics like what is going on today will only cause both major parties to shrink more and more. More and more Americans are just fed up with both major parties and are deserting them by the bucket loads. Especially when just 0.0125%, less than one percent of total spending has caused this shutdown. A pox on both major parties. It high time each major party and their leaders recognize they should be Americans first, not Republicans and democrats.
Never happen.
