Burgers by candlelight: Trump lays out fast food for college football champs

Most of the posters saying the food is unhealthy are ranked hypocrites. Take a look inside their fridge...

~~~~~~
I'll take your word for it. I prefer not to lurk into other peoples lives or refrigerator/freezers.
I attended numerous head of state level dinners and cocktail parties during my career. And for the life of me I can’t remember what any of the meals were. But this? This will be a fun, bizarre memory that they will always have. I think it is awesome
I was a Trump voter and strong supporter of Trump until semi recently, where I'm reaching the line in the sand. I've stood by him for many of his gafs and bad moves since as far back as the campaign. I'll admit I've made some ridiculous arguments, but at the same time, I've tried to avoid running around screaming: you just don't like it because it's from Trump.
IMO trying to make this fast food thing out to be some great noble gesture is goofy. And as had been mentioned it's not so much about the food items (burgers, fries, pizza) it's about why not have the best of the area prepare those items? Perfect opportunity for the president to have given a shout out to "Luigi's pizza" or "Macs Burger joint. And yes I'm sure that would still get complaints from severe trump haters but I'm thinking most people like myself wouldn't have taken issue.
I don't see it as "great noble gesture" nor do I see it as the massive fubar Trumpophobes want to make it. I think the level of looniness has gone beyond all comprehension.
My basis argument is "cheap-ass Trump" with a poor perception of what hosting college athletes at the White House and serving them burgers in a box would look like. The optics are terrible, IMO. It really does make him look cheap and the athletes unworthy of a White House visit.
The only victims in this scenario are your hurt sensabilities...
Aside from that, everyone seemed to have a good time.
Oh, by the way, Clemson's star quarterback enjoyed Trump's Spread
"It was awesome," Lawrence told us while taking pics with Clemson fans ... "We had McDonalds and everything. It was good!"
Another fan asked Lawrence how many times he plans on returning to the White House -- to which he replied, "Hopefully, a few more!"
Trump also enjoyed the dinner with the champs -- tweeting out, "Because of the Shutdown I served them massive amounts of fast food (I paid), over 1000 hamberders etc."
I heard trump paided for it...naturally he would be cheap about it
How many posts have you (and others) made here making up reasons why this was AOK? "They probably love that kind of food" "Nobody seemed to be complaining" etc.
I read the link about last years meal and one of the young men commenting on the bbq said something along the lines of "best food (bbq?) I've ever had" Do you think they got home from this visit and told all their friends and family about the great food they had? Of course not, they probably had friends at home eating the same thing that afternoon.
I'm curious why you feel you need to defend the meal.
Some people have a wider and more mature palate than mediocrity between two buns. That isn’t elitism.
The Big Mac is America's signature burger. It is a symbol of American culture, like blue jeans, baseball, apple pie. It symbolizes us. 2.4 million Big Macs are made every day.
The Mac attack is 50 years old. McDonald's sales are through the roof.
People forget the Big Mac changed the way we think about food.
You need to think deep and discover why you have a problem with the meal. McDonalds is a working class meal; it show you who Donald Trump is for. The progressives does themselves no favors by complaining; class-warfare hill you want to die on.
I've heard two, I also heard one young man being overheard saying he thought it was a joke as he looked over the table. I would figure these young men have been taught manners and weren't going to bite the hand that fed them. Whether it was 100 or 1000 burgers. The president missed a basic opportunity here.
Oh c'mon, what do they know unless they have the anti-Trump brigade there to help them get through their day?
We'll have to disagree.
Most college students eat ramen noodles. Trust me, college students love fast food.
Not "defending" anything. Well, except of course for the absolve mindless Trumpophobia rampart amongst many of the poster on DP.
Greetings, Jack. :2wave:
I'm sure they did - it's food they're used to eating, and it's not every day that they have lunch in the White House with the POTUS! Good for them and thanks to President Trump for giving them something to remember and talk about years from now - 1. their 44-16 win over Alabama and 2. their lunch at the WH! :thumbs:
No Taco bell? Must have been because Mexico wouldn't pay for it.
