Burgers by candlelight: Trump lays out fast food for college football champs

I don't know about you, but when I was 20 years old if I would have walked into a spread of never ending burgers and pizza I would have been like.... "Oh HELL YEAH"!!!!

I wasn't a ball player when I was 20, though, trying to keep "lean and mean." You can't look like those guys do, and eat like Trump does.

If you do, you end up looking like Trump.

Whenever I get the McDonad’s wants, I just think about how I will feel 30 minutes later if I don’t have access to a porcelain convenience!

If you go for a long while without eating fast food, and then eat it again - you literally feel miserable. We don't do a lot of fast food. We either eat at sit-down restaurants or I cook at home. When we are on the road, and need to make a quick stop, we always regret it later, because we feel lousy.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump laid out a White House feast fit for a government shutdown on Monday: silver platters heaped high with McDonald’s quarter pounders and the red-and-white burger wrappers of Wendy’s.

White House chefs normally would serve much fancier fare underneath the stern gaze of the portrait of Abraham Lincoln in the State Dining Room. But they are furloughed, staying home without paychecks as Trump fights with Congress over funding the federal government.
===============================================
Personally if I was a champion athlete invited to the WH for dinner, I wouldn't be looking forward to fast food.

From Fox news article:

"... White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said much of the White House residence staff has been furloughed due to the ongoing partial government shutdown, ""so the president is personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone's favorite fast foods." ..."

Me too...if my poor coach would have served it.

But the $10B President of the USA? Nope, not happy at all.

I'm just sayin... at 20 years old I would have taken a kick ass burger, fry, and pizza spread over some fancy "gourmet" type food any day of the week. Now that I'm 51? No. I got heartburn and a bad case of the runs just by looking at the pic.

Evangelicals: now you know Trump doesn't give a **** about you. McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's...even Domino's...but nothing from Chick-fil-A.

Suckers!!

My son is 19. He would understand that serving fast food is an insult.

Really? I’m sure he got the frequent flier discount........Trump paid out of pocket? :lamo

At 20 I could eat fast food two or three times a week and I was never out of shape. That all started to change once I hit my late 20s.

If I pigged out on that crap today I probably would be locked in a bathroom somewhere for a couple of days.

Here is the part again which I highlighted and which explains why there was no food prepared by WH staff/cooks:

"... much of the White House residence staff has been furloughed ..."

.........and who shut the government down? Self-inflicted wounds........nite, nite!

Did anyone on the team complain?

My son would also realize that just because he was insulted, there would be no reason to vocalize the slight. The best move would be to move on and ignore the person who insulted them in the future.

Whatever.

Sure. But they'd have to actually be real burgers. McDonalds is regurgitated meat protein and various other otherwise inedible parts of the cow, shaped into a disk. Just thinking about eating that garbage gives me the runs.

I wouldn't look forward to it if I was college-level drunk n' stoned. Ewf. I'll grill myself a burger, tyvm..

What a slap in the face. I had better taste even when I couldn't afford it.

I've been lucky enough to have meet 2 presidents and experienced the refreshments offered. A Jr Baccon Cheeseburger and slice of pizza would of been preferable to the dry sandwiches, stale cookies and chips and generic fruit and cheese trays. Especially the younger I was. I know enough now to eat before I go if I'm ever invited back

Only a snowflake would feel insulted ... (grin).

A normal person would realize that Trump went above and beyond his duty as a host - no staff, but that didn't stop Trump from providing food.

I hope you really believe this...

Players thought it was a joke, dude.

These guys don't eat McDondald's. Many of them are on strict diets. They're all trying to go pro. Cheat days for them are chicken and waffles. Not McDondalds cause they know they will pay for it.
.

Sent from Trump Plaza's basement using Putin's MacBook.

If you want to pig out on good burgers, go Five Guys or even Wendy's...but Big Macs and Filet O'Fish?!?

That's funny cuz I have the flu and my car is down, and all I have is a motorcycle. I got a ride to the doctor from my mom for antibiotics cuz like a dummy I thought I could do an hour in 50 dgree weather to do shopping I needed yesterday, got nearly hypothermic and whole lot sicker. I had to wait for a prescription and they had a 2 for five deal (McDonalds and Subway the ONLY FF chains in town) and I had a big mac and filet of fish, specifically. It'd been years since I'd had either cuz at the price they sell for, why? But on someone else's treat after many years well I am glad for it cuz it means no need to feed myself when I feel awful, but it was not great. Still it wasn't awful either.

My ol' lady is worthless, driving wise, she can't won't, IDK if she'll ever drive.

Well... You've got a point there, but yah know what, Big macs are still great.

As long as you don't question what you're putting in your body. Athletes, especially college athletes intent on being invited to "The Big Show", tend to question EVERYTHING they put in their body.

That's because professional sports franchises waste no time in questioning it, too.
