30 Democrats in Puerto Rico with 109 lobbyists for weekend despite shutdown

So, your position is zero compromise. The Democrat position is zero compromise. Trump's position is zero compromise. I'm cool with the government staying closed.

Not at all. It’s just that a wall isn’t a valid option.

I mean, I'm cool with the government staying closed if you want to play those games.

Likewise your Democrat leadership can continue down that path of no compromise and keep the government closed.

Since the Dems have passed bills and McConnell refuses to put it to a vote this is a Republican shutdown. Sounds like you want to make a dem tidal wave happen. Fine.

These are not compromises these are things already approved.

Really? so you have seen the bill? Doubt it seriously and doubt you would ever support anything Trump proposes

Finally a President that is sick and tired of kicking the can down the road, I have no problem at all with Trump taking ownership of the shutdown nor does he

Sure he does that’s why he is always blaming others instead of owning the shutdown. Your boy trump is always trying to blame others even when he says he owns the shutdown. And he didn’t own his lie of Mexico will pay for the wall. I’m fine with it because he and the gop will get voted out of office in 2020 for his tantrums.

What lie, no wall no lie. You radicals need to get your stories straight Trump has taken responsibility but nothing satisfies anyone with TDS

I'm sorry but I was playing close attention to the whole process during that whole thing. And it was not the President who rejected a bipartisan deal but the Democrats.

Your source is leaving out a LOT of the details.

Maybe you were paying close attention...to extremely cherry-picked sources.

White House senior adviser Stephen Miller is taking heat from political observers who have accused him of being a leading force in preventing a compromise on immigration to end the government shutdown.

Some have even referred to the 32-year-old former Senate aide and immigration hardliner as "President Stephen Miller" for his outsized influence in the immigration debate.

Republican and Democratic leaders reached a deal Monday to end the shutdown after days of negotiations. At the center of the deal was an agreement to schedule a a vote on bipartisan immigration legislation — but no permanent solution on the issue.

NBC News reported that a Friday conversation between President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, with hopes of reaching a deal to avert a shutdown, was partially derailed by Miller, who pushed Trump away from an immigration compromise.

I fully admit that Schumer was under intense pressure from his constituency to not give Trump anything, but for a while there was a window in which that $25B was on the table. Trump could have taken it right there, but Stephen Miller whispered into his ear, and here we are.

The non wall options have worked so well!

Well, since you've already lost the public debate on the wall, maybe trying a different route might not be the worst idea on earth.

Couldn't care less,

Well of course you don't. You dismiss any trump lie or deception or porn ****ing with ease. Can't wait to laugh at you when criminality comes to light and you dismiss all that as well.

support the wall, why don't you?

Buggy-whips have more effective purpose than that vanity wall. Support actual border security, why don't you?

Really? so you have seen the bill? Doubt it seriously and doubt you would ever support anything Trump proposes

They all supported a wall a while ago, but since Trump wants it, that's reason enough to be against it, border security be damned.
And of course, the goal of the Democrats here is to be able to use this against Trump when he runs for reelection.

They will fight against the wall now, and will call him out for not keeping his promise of building the wall when they campaign. As I said, security be damned, they are more concerned with power.

Right, the debate is over, and we don't want a wall at all. We want open, porous borders. Forgot all about that.

Right, you never saw a dollar you would spend on social engineering but when it comes to national security and 5.8 billion on a 4.4 TRILLION DOLLAR Govt. it is too much to support?? That is liberal logic which is basically no logic at all and just TDS

National security now is it?

Anything to spend on useless tools. I mean... there isn't a wall there, hasn't been a wall there... how are we all still alive? We've been under your preceived "national security" threat from the south for 527 years now. We should all be completely dead.

I just love how all the trumpettes are screaming about how $5 billion is such a drop in the bucket. If dems asked for $5 billion more in food stamps you guys would have a fiscal conniption.

Simply put... there is no dollar amount that could ever be spent that would placate cowardly conservative fear. $5 billion to $5 quadrillion... cons will still crap their pants about anyone who isn't them.

[checks to see if border fence is still there]

Yep! We still have a border fence!

How do you know it is a useless tool? How does this hurt you, your family, or the country? You have been wrong so many times, when will you admit it. Tax cuts worked, Red line enforced, Trump has cut spending and grew revenue adding 2 trillion to the GDP in 2 years. Now he wants 5.8 billion and you say he is wrong, prove it?

Let's start by you giving me the cost of illegal immigration in this country now? The Wall works in San Diego so why not elsewhere.

Again, you totally miss the point. This is not for a couple of people with part information at our fingertips. This is for people with actual knowledge of immigration and national security verifiable information to discuss and prioritize. Our elected officials should be allowed to verify and fact check information so they can properly discuss and negotiate.

Like I said, if after factual discussions about need and what the solutions for national security (including border security) might be....they can devise a plan.

That is your opinion, what exactly do the Democrats want that isn't in the bill? 5.8 billion is Trump's bottom line what do the Democrats want to give him that amount and how do you judge Trump's performance when he promised a wall and the Democrats won't budge?

Sounds like he has the negotiation set in his mind. His way or the highway. Not a negotiation. Open the government and allow the House and Senate to discuss facts and negotiate solutions and money.

This coming from a guy who gets punked almost every single time he weighs in on this forum.

It's a useless tool because:

1) there's these things called "ladders"
2) There's these things called "tunnels"
3) The vast bulk of people here illegally are not border crossers but visa over-stays
4) The vast bulk of drugs smuggled into this country from Mexico is through ports of entry

The wall, like trump, is a useless tool. Only difference would be that a $5 billion wall would be much more wealthy than trump ever was.

Billions have been spent on border security and what are the results? walls work, time to try them and cut illegal costs

Not going to happen, you don't negotiate with liberals

Yes, but what stops people in open air? How many people come in through the Southern border, not how many have been apprehended, how many get it. It will cost us 5.8 billion to see if it works, a drop in the bucket and no logical reason for you not to support it other than your TDS
