Canadian controllers buy pizza for Americans

Democrats do not like people bringing up 'inconvenient truths' which have a direct bearing on their bad policies going forward.

Again, Not sure what you're walking about.

Doesn't make me no never mind what you are. It's just silly that you keep parading around like a GOPer.

Tell that to my lifelong family friends that despise DJT and yet have always voted GOP.

The partisan shoeboxing continues, and it's pathetic.

The govt doesn't need to be open to negotiate.

Dude, are you serious?

He is holding the government workers hostage and saying words to the effect of "the wall or else".

He acts like a spoiled kid that is having a tantrum. Things only get worse when the parents give in to that type of behavior.

I knew this would turn into a blame fest for the shutdown but the actions of the Canadians were not partisan, they were just showing support for their American colleagues.
Yeah I think it was a cool gesture by good neighbors.

Yes. And even in unwalled sections the cartels use tunnels. So a wall is not going to stop that.

So does drying up their employment opportunities by jailing explotative employers seeking to undermine the market value of labor and profiteer. They will self deport if we start holding these folks accountable for robbing americans of job opportunities. Wasn't that one of the biggest issues? Jobs for americans?

Our system is not democratic. We're a republic. And I do support democracy as well as federalism. The democrats took the house, their constituency does not want the wall. You support a democratic election, right? If so, then you ought to support the dims stance on the wall, since their constituency doesn't want to pay for it - and I support that cause.

Trump winning the election does not mean his agenda is supported by the "country."

No it means that those who voted for him...want that wall built.
That's called a mandate.

No, it's not a mandate. It's only a mandate by and to his constituency - not the entire country. Those that voted for him wanted the wall. Those that voted against him do not. Thus the House flips to the democrats, and now the wall won't be built.

Tell me, why for the first two years in office, did Trump not get his $5.7bn?

You've raped and completely misdefined 'mandate'.

For the same reason Obama had such issues. It happens...but that doesn't mean the wall wasn't mandated by the election in 2016, and it certainly doesn't mean Trump should give up on the wall.

However, in your blind subjectivity, you assume I am a liberal and that the sole reason I dislike the wall is Mr. Trump - and, that the Dims in the house are also "just out to get POTUS" essentially.

Point me to a study done showing the wall will help the situation. Show me some evidence. I reject the claim your wall will work - because the 700+ miles of wall currently there is not really working, now is it?

'Point you to a study'? What do you think this is? Obama stalling the pipeline? Here are the REAL experts talking about this issue....

I asked for a study. Where is the study? I don't give a **** what this guy has to say. I want a real study that shows real evidence of the impact a border wall will have on:

1. The cost to US tax payers; benefit vs. expense; true cost to our healthcare and social safety net programs due to illegal immigration
2. The true impact on the jobs market
3. The true impact on the healthcare industry

I dont know that thats fair. I think there are many Americans un-effected by illegal immigration and, thus, dont see it as much of a problem. There are no illegal immigration issues where I live, so it is understandable that people in my area dont really care that much about a wall. It doesnt mean they are dumb.
Actually it often means that. It is not a uniquely American thing and can be seen in Europe as well. Most High anti immigration areas in Europe are places that have no or few immigrants.

The classic example is the Swiss. Years ago they banned minarets in the country. Now this was the far right pushing the referendum based on lies. You see to build a minaret you need local planning permission and most areas have bans on any building higher than a certain hight (usually 3 stories). Even church spires could not be built. But the referendum passed and minarets were banned. Cities where Muslim live was against the ban, but rural area who maybe saw a Muslim driving through pushed through the ban. You have a greater chance of getting it by an astorid than some Muslims wanting to build a minaret in rural Switzerland...

You see this over and over. Highest Brexit city has some of the lowest immigrantion numbers and so on. AfD in Germany are most popular in areas with little immigration.

So yes people are dumb and often are very easily manipulated into things because they don't have time to set themselves into things and rely on headlines and "talk" to stay informed. It is a major problem of the information age, where there is so much information and so little time, so many choose to stick with negative (very human) Conservative views like "they are coming for our jobs and women"..

Trump's "mandate" was undone by the 2018 mid-terms. Why did he not get it built before this? What was happening the first two years of his administration?

The wall is an albatross with no study showing its value to our country.

Why would you discount the words of people who actually know what they are talking about? If soldiers and generals in the field say they need more armor do you say 'screw them, I need to see a study?'

Why would I accept it? Without evidence and a cost/benefit analysis, I see no point in advancing the wall idea. These guys can say whatever they want. Why should I believe your claim the wall is necessary when you haven't proven the claim?

Also, false equivocation. You're talking about observable and demonstrable instances where a military commander sees anti-armor weapons causing too many losses and thus we need better armor.

Here, the observation seems to be "we need a wall, despite most illegal immigration and drug smuggling happening through legal points of entry and through tunnels, which circumvent the wall entirely."

The mandate still is valid.
as for the rest of this...a quote from another poster, if I may...

No, it isn't. The mandate has been checked and no longer exists. A minority of the country no longer has the authority to force the majority to pay for this fantasy.

And, I replied to that with a request for a study. I don't, again, give a damn what that guy has to say about anything. Give me a facts based study, not the word of one, two folks who work down there.

Huh...you sure have an odd way of looking at elections.

Correction: You hate Trump and will ignore the testimony of the real experts on the ground, in order to satisfy your hate.

Gee...that ficticous character your avatar signifies fealty to...would be impressed with your hatred...were that he actually existed that is...

No. I do not accept the word of any one man or small collection of folks as fact. The bible was written by a collection of people. I do not accept it, either.

If you're so convinced of the need for the wall, then why not support a study proving this claim?

The mandate is gone. His constituency want him to build the wall, the rest of us don't. 23% mandate a wall. The rest don't. The 2018 election slew your dragon.

Stop putting words in my mouth and insisting I hate Trump. Your presumptive bull**** -is not an argument, a point I've already made, countless times on this forum.- This is the same odious bull**** as using a race card - you can't win the debate so you throw out ad hominem or some soundbyte to try and disparage your opponent so you do not need to entertain their arguments.

Your petty, contriving nonsense will not fly with me.

Now. Why do you not support the study to prove the necessity of the wall if you're so sure of its efficacy?

Because the experts on the ground have been asked and their answer is clear.
Trump was elected to "Build That Wall". That's called a "mandate". The "mandate" is not nullified by a midterm that was marginally successful for the Dumbocrats.
Why do you question the experts? Its more than just a handful BTW. Just ask the good folks of San Diego.

Now...yes the Bible was written by men. As far as I'm concerned, its a political thing more than a religious thing.
But to use that as an excuse to exhibit support for the contrived enemy of man, is not impressive nor is it brave.
Its...as silly as posting a crucifix with a dead guy unceremoniously tacked to it, on every post.
I've had this debate with allot o' people in the music industry...they weren't very intellectually challenging.
But consider, if you will...
If you believe in Satin...does that not automatically mean you believe in Gawd too?

Are you really that sure about all the stuff you're saying. I hear this same thing over and over from the Left, like they got told to say it. The Senate was a real problem for the Reps before.

The arguments that the Senate should have used reconciliation to pass the border wall funding actually came from the right. Bush passed 3 tax cuts with reconciliation. The Democrats passed modifications to the ACA with reconciliation.

https://thehill.com/blogs/congress-...onciliation-is-the-key-to-building-the-border

You can blame the Republicans for not giving you the wall you want when they could have done so.

I don't believe in either. I use it to upset people - which it clearly works, since you've referenced my avatar a few times now.

How many times do I need to repeat to you - I don't take word of mouth as fact. It's hearsay. Let's see a study. Why are you against the study? Why not publish a study that shows the efficacy of the wall? If you and them are so sure it works, shouldn't you want to prove your claim?

Trump was elected by 23% of the population. They want the wall built. The 77% chose in the 2018 election to pick a new house. That house is composed of folks who do not want the wall. Thus, Trump and his ornery supporters have lost their ability to demand the wall.

good reason to display the sign of the enemy.

the mandate exists...your numbers I would question...the proof is there...build the damn wall

The Reps haven't always had majority votes on border security, because they have the RINOs up in New England.

The dollar number has been lowered by the WH, but Democrats are unmoved. It's appears it is they who will not negotiate.

Like most projects of immense proportion, the initial dollar amount means nothing. The wall is stupid and should not be payed for by the tax payers. Standing firm is stoic.
