New York school urges students to stop wearing, and losing, $350 beanies

i doubt that i'd pay fifteen grand for a suit, either. ****, if i had tens of thousands to blow, i would probably buy a 1968 Chrysler Imperial and a pair of leather pants.
To each his own. If you had 10Ks of dollars to blow on clothes, we probably wouldn't be talking about this because it would be normal for you to spend it on things that are valuable.

Sent from Trump Plaza's basement using Putin's MacBook.

If I had tens of thousands to blow on clothes, I'd shop at Kohl's and figure out a way to retire ASAP. I might buy a classic car, too.

Probably a lot. Do they have iridium, though? Lol.

I actually had two pairs, as the first pair disappeared from my car. Probably stolen. I had a person or two around me with sticky fingers, I would guess. These days I buy el cheapo sunglasses.

The last place I worked had a "safety glasses mandatory at all times" policy - they supplied them and bought them in case lots. They never bothered to even inventory them and I probably have a couple of dozen pairs still floating around.

i have three pairs at work and one at home. i'm a lab rat.

They do tend to accumulate, don't they?

definitely. i have a main pair and some backups. they take PPE seriously at my job. i went back to academia for a few years in 2011, and i was no longer comfortable going into the lab without eye protection.

Not only that, but I find that they are better designed than the "commercial" sunglasses. Admittedly more cheaply made, but for the difference in cost who cares.

Hell, I even wear "Kirkland" jeans (which I understand come from the same factories that the $200 and $300 "designer jeans" come from [and are made from the same material]).

A while back (this is what is known as a digression) I was in the market for a new freezer. I did a lot of looking around and then, while talking to one of the salespeople at a "not high end" appliance outlet I asked him what the real difference between the various freezers was. He stated that almost all of the freezers on the market (locally) used the same motor/condenser/cooler units and that the main difference was the design of the interior liners and the name tag on the outside of the freezer. His advice was, if __[name of motor/condenser/cooler unit]__ made and sold one that would meet my requirements then I should buy that one as it was likely to be between 20 and 30 percent cheaper than one that had a "national brand name that was extensively advertised" name tag on it. (The same, apparently, applies to many [but not all] of the vacuum cleaners on the market.)

good advice.

i'm old enough to remember when vacuum cleaners were serious business. up until i was probably 19 or so, one company still had salesmen selling high end models door to door. we had two Filter Queens when i was growing up. one was for vacuuming, and when it went on the fritz, there was a vacuum repair shop down the street. the other one was solely to be used as a hair dryer, believe it or not. if you kicked the reverse switch on one of those, it would dry your hair in about a minute tops. we even took it on vacation with us. when i got to college and started using regular hair dryers all of the time, it seemed like a step down. now the vacuums are pretty much disposable, but my dad taught me how to work on them and keep them going for years / decades. my guess is that most people just toss them and buy another.

Was one hour old when I posted it.

They don't come much more "breaking" than that.

Besides, so far no one has blamed EITHER Climton, Obama, Trump, the URussians, the Saudis, the Iranians, the "Left", the "Right", the "Great Huge Vast Enormous Hidden Covert Concealed Secret Conspiracy Plot", the "Deep State", Christians, Jews, Muslims, Whites, Blacks, Browns, Yellows, Commies, or Nazis (either alone or in combination) and you deserve a rest from the usual fare once in a while.
I guess you haven't figured it out yet; UNLESS it can be BLAMED on TRUMP it is NOT "NEWS", we've a TV monitor where I work that plays CNN (Cable NEWS Network) and all they talk about is Donald Trump; gang killing in Baltimore, delays at some airport, immigrants in convoys crossing Mexico bound for the US, low prices in housing market, Brexit problems, Cohen too scared to talk to Congress, Maduro facing protests in Caracas, Israel confronting Iran, trouble in the Kerch straits, Turkey harassing Kurds, China's economy buckling -its in the news ONLY if it can be blamed on TRUMP.

it's just that i can go to Kohls and get a snow hat for like twenty bucks. i guess that the brand is cool and that their parents have a lot of money or something.

Proof positive that richer didn’t mean smarter. As if we needed more proof after Trump.

Although I don't now, I've owned "FilterQueen" vacuums for years and they are all they were cracked up to be. I've even seen them used for "wet pickup" (although that is HIGHLY NOT recommended).

Ours were decent, as we had them serviced often. As for wet vac use, I wouldn't do that.

I don't believe that I've watched a "regular" TV news program for at least 10 years. Admittedly it probably takes me longer than 10 minutes to "find out what's happening", but I'm in no rush.

PS - It is NOT true that something has to be about Mr. Trump for the media to cover it. What IS required is that there be a chance of increased profit arising from the coverage.

I didn't - but I have seen it done and (since the amount of liquid was small, the vacuum survived).
