Re: F.B.I. Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia
So.....all presidents had made their own appointment! Just so happens Trump is more prolific about it. So?
Your source also says the votes by the ABA was split - and it took Pence to do the tie-breaking! It was a split vote!
What exactly was the issue with Kobes? here, read the letter that was sent to Grasley:
According to ABA, he's competent, capable and accomplished!
LOL. If you don't have sufficient evidence for the rest - then it can swing both ways, too!
He could've also have the prerequisite "excellent analytical and writing" skills - after all, he's competent, capable and efficient!
SPLIT VOTE!
That means, half of ABA members didn't think that Kobes is unqualified!
Half of ABA's members don't agree! It took Pence to break that tie!
Furthermore:
We saw that liberal bias come to play with Kavanaugh! ABA had previously given Kavanaugh a gold seal of approval, and yet suddenly they took it back right after that controversial hearing we saw on tv!
Whether we want to accept it or not, everything is partisan now! It's ABA's credibility that is now in question, as far as I'm concerned.
The ABA doesn't much care for some of Trump's nominees, although it prefers the term "Not Qualified"

https://www.americanbar.org/content...nathanKobesnominee-EighthCCA.authcheckdam.pdfWe conducted two separate evaluations of Mr. Kobes, and the Committee came to a split vote, as indicated.
Mr. Kobes is a very accomplished, competent, and capable person, but his career path has not resulted in sufficient evidence
of a developed ability to do the written work of a United States Circuit Court Judge.
We conducted two separate evaluations of Mr. Kobes, and the Committee came to a split vote, as indicated.
Without sufficient evidence that the nominee possesses an especially high degree of legal scholarship and excellent analytical and writing experience, the Standing Committee voted that the nominee was “Not Qualified” to serve on the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The Standing Committee does not have any question about Mr. Kobes’ integrity or temperament.
There were no issues raised by any of his peers with respect to those two criteria

Bias Alleged
The ABA ratings are purportedly non-partisan, but conservatives have been claiming that the ratings process is biased against them since the 1980s.
“No one who looks seriously at instances of the ABA’s negative assessments of conservative candidates—especially on the malleable topic of judicial temperament—can dispute that the ABA’s liberal bias sometimes comes into play,” Ed Whelan of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, who has been vocal in supporting Trump’s judicial nominees, told Bloomberg Law by email.
