Families of Sandy Hook shooting victims win legal victory in lawsuit against InfoWars, Alex Jones

Good for the judge, hope they find enough to nail that dirtbag to the wall.

Hopefully he won't take the easy way out and declare bankruptcy. I know a businessman that screwed customers over left and right and simply declared bankruptcy. Insurance companies have been known to do that too.

I still stand by my statement.

Why?

Not that the tension between First Amendment rights and defamation isn't at the heart of this; it is. But if you think that conservatives as a group are supporters of Alex Jones, I believe you're mistaken.

I'd have to Google; I don't keep up much with crazed conspiracy theorists.

Just so we are all clear on just who defends Alex Jones' right to use other people's infrastructure to not be as much a liar as a mentally ill man through reposts, or lets us all know that they don't like the guy while reposting his work, or telling us how unfair it is that a private company doesn't want to do business with him:

It's the same people who read Drudge, and Breitbart, etc over and over again.

We know who keeps up with the crazies on this forum, nota.

Americans respond well to appeals to emotion. They love having their heart strings pulled, but tend to be selective about who is entitled to First Amendment and who is to be excluded.

There goes another one of your CT theory supporters. Down the drain, falsehoods exposed.

These folks have his nutjob fanbase harrassing them about being crisis actors and liars. He put them up to that. Freedom of speech isn't freedom to rally that kind of idiocy. Yet another right winger who contends that lying to incite the masses is protected free speech.

Do you have any evidence that he incited his followers to harass these people?

So when politicians lie that the rich aren't paying their "fair" share to incite the masses it isn't protected speech?

He sued to try and publish the home addresses of the Families...He lost in court....

Im entirely a fan of the first amendment. But thanks for the hyperbole that was so useful.

You literally said you hope that the government would go after an individual because of things he said. This would seem antithetical with the principle of free speech.

Parents of Jewish Sandy Hook victim forced to move 7 times due to harassment
Noah Pozner’s mother says they can’t visit son’s grave; conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who claims mass shooting never happened, sues couple, seeks $100,000 in costs

The parents of a 6-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook shooting have been forced to move homes seven times and now live hundreds of miles from their son’s grave due to near constant harassment from conspiracy theorists who claim the deadly massacre was a hoax.

Just looking at the article above it seems like AJ might have winning hand here.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t listen to him or even think he’s credible.

But I think his speech/opinions are protected. It’s also interesting to claim the parents public figures for their activism for gun control.

I’d be curious of what they consider circumstances that force them to move?

I see nothing in that article the shows Jones inciting any sort of harrassment. This would be like blaming Bernie Sanders for his looney supporter shooting up that baseball field over his rhetoric.

Bernie wasn't spreading malicious lies to stoke that guy. Not even close to the same.

All Jones did was put out a conspiracy theory that Sandy Hook was a hoax. Bernie Sanders was calling the Republican healthcare bill barbaric and was going to kill American citizens. If anything Bernie's was worse because his rhetoric directly lead to violence. Ultimately both Bernie and Jones are not responsible for the actions of some psychos that happen to support them unless they actually call for the violence/harrassment.

Welp I didnt say that so theres that.

What did you mean by they should go after Ted Nugent next?

Edit: I shouldn't have said "literally", I tend to use that word too much.

They= family And it was tongue in cheek, so calm down dude. It was a bit of recognition and disgust for what Nugent said in his free for all on the victims and their families.

Those families would ultimately have used the power of government to go after him, unless of course you meant they should gather a bunch of pitchforks and burn him at the stake.

All good, to be honest I don't even know what Nugent said but undoubtedly it was something offensive. I didn't realize it was tongue in cheek, there are likely many here that would actually want the government to go after him.

One is using the truth to excite people to vote and one is lying to incite people into violence.

You know, Charles Manson didn't kill anyone. Should he have gone to prison for speaking lies to his followers that they ultimately ended up killing?

Time will tell, and more importantly, the discovery process.

Recall that the plaintiff Pozner in a similar suit against Halbig, failed to show for a deposition in his own lawsuit. That in late 2017.

https://sonsoflibertymedia.com/sand...il-suit-investigator-wolfgang-halbig-dropped/

I don't know much at all about the suit against Jones, but if it develops fully with full discovery processes for each side, things might turn out differently than many expect.

Where did Jones incite people to violence?

Where is the lawsuit against Maxine Waters, who repeatedly openly called for Republicans to be harassed?

Where is the lawsuit against BLM that openly called for the murder of police officers - and police officers after that were specifically targeted and assassinated after this?

Where is the lawsuit against Democrats calling Trump a Nazi worse that Hitler thus trying to terrify Jews?
