Angry furloughed federal workers protest shutdown at the White House, around the country

Like the right is doing about trump. the whole right wing of law & order meme went out in the 60s with Nixon.

The right (GOP) has put more exec. branch in jail than the damn mob.

Yeah. We should all be allowed to just grab any sign we can grab and prance around like idiots for the cameras.

What Trump (and clearly many on this board) do not realize....if you are living paycheck to paycheck....when something like this hits you it can affect you like a slow rolling tidal wave or tsunami).

You cannot pay a bill...so you put it on the credit card. You cannot pay the credit card so they give you late fees. You cannot pay another bill, so it gets reported on your credit. And so on.

If you are paycheck to paycheck....you do not have daddy out there to float ya a million.

I am happy that many on this board seem to have enough socked away that being without a paycheck is no big deal.

But for me, after weathering multiple family crisis over the course of 3 years, I am in a get back on track mode. Being without a paycheck would be devastating.

This is Trump's shut down with a sprinkle of Coulter and Limbaugh.

Let these people go back to work.

BTW, does anybody feel safer knowing that people who we depend on to keep us secure are working without being paid?

Also, there are likely thousands of contracted employees that will not get a check after the shut down.

It's called democracy...not dictatorship that's impotent unless of course you can...shut down the govt.
You dont think the Democrats should sign a bill they dont agree with. Why should trump sign a bill he does not agree with?

Open up the government and negotiate.

Negotiation is not holding hostage.

He is holding innocent parties hostage.

Well, since he is SUPPOSED to be working for the people and the people through their representatives have made their will known it is his obligation to sign it.

What is disgusting? The workers protesting?

That we have elected officials acting like children over something that we have a right to secure! The democrats want point to trump as a problem. The Americans who voted for trump saw something that he was going to do. The democrats doesn’t care about you if you are a noncitizen now you are important

They missed a paycheck yesterday, so I am sure they are not behind on any payments as of yet.

Interest accrues on credit cards, car loans, mortgages, etc. That doesn't go away. The one good thing out of this has been that Trump and his supporters are being shown for the federal worker haters they are. Already many federal workers (even those that aren't furloughed) see how much Trump and the GOP hate them and are willing to jeopardize their lives for political gain.

The problem is McConnell won't even put a bill to VOTE so it could be sent to Trump. It's good to know you don't mind the senate playing political games with people's lives. The senate should put to vote the house bill and if it passes, then let Trump veto it. You guys are cheering McConnell and Trump on for their extortion.

I think you have that backwards, but you would never admit it.

Interest accrues when you haven't paid the bill when it becomes 30 days late.

They missed one paycheck yesterday.

Not at all, Dems are wanting to open the government up and negotiate (putting federal workers back to work) and Trump and the GOP want to hold federal workers hostages like the scumbags they are. So yes, Trump and the GOP HATE Federal Workers.

You realize that people are PAYING on those items month to month, so that paycheck they missed would most likely go to paying that credit card. Since they can't interest will accrue.

No its not.

No point in McConnell letting the house waste their valuable time

There is no negotiation

Nancy categorically refused to negotiate with Trump, but somehow, we're supposed to believe that negotiations will begin AFTER the gov't is reopened. Democrats have been lying and making promises since Reagan. They can't be trusted.

Trump should leave things as they are until he gets the funding or the military has begun building it and the courts have ruled not to block it.

As a retired federal employee I disagree. Have you seen the way some of our National Parks and recreational areas are starting to look? If you care about the condition of federal lands you would want the employees of the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, BIA and Fish and Wild Life Service back to work.

You do realize that wildland fire training is being canceled do to the furlough. That puts training and hiring behind in preparation for the next fire season.

So Trump and Congress need to get off their butts and get things settled. If Congress would pass budgets and immigration reform in a timely manner we would not be in this situation. Of course this has been going on long before Trump was elected. Stop the politics and get on with the business of running this country.

Trump is sitting in the WH waiting for Dems to come and deal IN GOOD FAITH. They have failed to do so.
Once again, they've skipped town.
How many days has Congress worked since the shut down began? And they're still getting paid.

Federal budgets is a process involving Congress and the President. Seems neither side wants to budge. imo, the wall should stand on its own merits and have its own spending bill.

I am not defending Republicans, Democrats in Congress or the Office of the President. I agree it seems the Dems are not dealing in good faith. I will ask how is the President negating in Good Faith when he states unless I get $5B, I won't sign any spending bill? I will also ask why the funding for the Forest Service, Park Service, FWS, BLM, BIA should be help up over the dollars for the "wall".

The funding for the "wall" should be a stand alone appropriate bill. Trump and Congress are using federal employees as political pawns.

It’s disgusting

Disgusting? Furloughed workers protesting their abuse at Trump's hands disgusts you?

:lamo

And to think you probably called a liberal a "snowflake" once upon a time...

Trump has budged. The dems are the ones not budging.

Unfortunately, that is how untrustworthy Dems are.
