Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer, to testify publicly before Congress

Re: Michael Cohen Agrees to Testify to Congress ...

I repeat:

"Sorry you made the claim Mueller was done with Cohen, NOW PROVE IT"

You look it up and prove it to me.

Make me!!!

Re: Michael Cohen Agrees to Testify to Congress ...

There's going to be another manufactured crisis the day Michael Cohen shows up to testify.
I'd like to compile a list of the possible ideas Trump might seize upon to blow up into a crisis:

(mine)

"North Korea"

It is true the analogies to Nixon are striking, even down to Cohen's tapes.

I would argue that there is one REALLY major difference between Mr. Nixon's lying and Mr. Trump's (whatever you want to call it).

Mr. Nixon was a polished and professional liar and actually knew what the truth was when he said things that he knew were not true and he told his lies in order to further a specific plan of action that he had worked out in advance.

The same cannot be said for Mr. Trump with any degree of assurance.

Well, the cable news services will sure be excited about this.

In all likelihood this will be little more than an opportunity for Democrat House members to grandstand in front of the cameras and it will be a great opportunity for Cohen to spread a little more conjecture. However, it will be little more than a show and it's HIGHLY unlikely that anything substantive will come of the media event.

Which, of course, is not in the least bit like Mr. Trump and his TV commercial where he didn't even deliver the Grand Announcement that he had promised.

I'm just going off the one example I have and that's Cohen's claim that Trump ordered the payment to McDougal when Cohen's own tape has him telling Trump that the payment needs to be made.

Cohen is all about taking care of Cohen and if that means playing the Democrat's game he's all into it. When this is over he should go into practice with Avenatti.

I'm confused.

Do you meant that Mr. Trump lets his hired help tell him how to spend his money, or were you unaware that "IF you want to __[fill in the blank]__ THEN you have to __[fill in the blank]__." does NOT mean the same thing as "You have to __[fill in the blank]__."?

When you make a claim be prepared to prove that claim. Otherwise like you refusing to prove your claim makes your claim baseless and useless.

I'm done with you and your BS

Yep, I think it's time we all came to an understanding about this. Trump is too lazy to learn even the most basic facts about any subject. He just babbles off the top of his head, saying whatever he thinks the base wants to hear. Likely largely based on what he heard on FOX and Friends, or from Alex Jones, or perhaps Hannity or Carlson.

He's not lying, he's just babbling nonsense.

A five year old could be put in front of the microphone to tell us all about border security, and there would be just as much factual information as anything Trump has said. Probably more.

I have already stated and stated it quite clearly. Cohen has already plead guilty, Cohen has already taken a plea deal. Cohen has already been sentenced. Cohen will start serving 3 years in prison starting in March. Cohen did not have the permission to go in front of Congress to talk about anything to do with Russian meddling up to the moment of his sentencing. He's free to do so now and has the express and explicit 'okay' from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Special Counsel, namely Robert Mueller. Up to and until the time of his sentencing he was prohibited from speaking to anyone, not the press, not the Congress and not even to his cat, about what he shared with the special counsel. Does that answer your question YET?

I understand what your saying, but what your saying is not cast in stone. What your advocating is that once you are sentenced the game is over. Period. I see it a little differently.

Have you ever heard of an inmate "in jail" saying to a prosecutor that is trying another criminal, I'll squeal on him if you reduce my sentence. Convicted criminals from day one are trying their best to reduce their sentences. Mueller's mission is to get Trump even if Cohen has been sentenced to prison. If Cohen could give Mueller more information, even if Cohen lies for Mueller you can bet it will be giving with terms, a lesser sentence, even if Cohen has been in jail for a year or more. Nothing is ever off the table. Further I understand Cohen refused to answer some questions by Mueller of his personal life's business. Mueller could try again to get Cohen to open up further. Like lets let him spend some time in jail and then he may be more forthcoming to shorten his sentence.

Re: Michael Cohen Agrees to Testify to Congress ...

Keep in mind that Cohen's sentencing did not come from the special counsel's case, it came from the verdict reached in the Southern District of NY. The crimes he was found guilty of pertain to laws broken within the jurisdiction of the State of NY. Although the investigation by the special counsel continues, it's evident that Michael Cohen has been as forthcoming as he could be having spent many hours testifying with the special counsel. The special counsel’s questioning of Cohen, had focused primarily on all aspects of Trump's dealings with Russia -- including financial and business dealings and the investigation into alleged collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign and its surrogates to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. The FBI was more than satisfied that they had received enough testimony from Cohen that assisted them to a great degree in their investigation and that's why in their sentencing memo to the SDNY they recommended to the court that he receive NO prison time.

Elijah Cummings, chairman of the Committee on Oversight, is very aware of the delicate dynamics at play, and has made it clear that he planned to work with Mueller’s team so as not to step on any toes in their investigation of Russia hacking and collusion. Asked by reporters yesterday whether Mueller signed off on Cohen’s appearance, Rep. Cummings replied, “Of course.” He added that the special counsel’s team had “cleared it.”

I HATE it when people say that because then I can't stop thinking about the old joke with the punchline "But I only wanted a kiss.".

I wouldn't disagree with you, although I might have said it differently. I mean, I've known some pretty mature five year-olds.
