Just found this video from Sept. 2017 concerning the southern border region. It's pretty interesting. What I learned from it is we're safer than we think. Even in some areas that have border fencing which most of our southern border consists of have no problems. In fact, the terrain along our southern border is more of a deterant from the topography than the fence itself.

I'm not saying illegal aliens, drugs or human trafficking don't come cross our borders from Mexico. I'm saying there doesn't seem to be as big a problem across the great expanse as most people are lead to believe. Take a look and judge from yourself.

We're still much lower than we were in the 1970s, even when you don't include the increased unemployment among males.

Has there been recent improvement? Absolutely. I'm not denying that. We still have a long way to go. This is not the result of one party. Both parties have conspired to help big business at the expense of labor.

I agree we have a long way to go. I also agree certain businesses have been and continue to take advantage. We also have businesses help their communities as well as employees.

I can't tell you what to defend or that "boomers will be there to squeeze out as much rent from them as possible."

I can tell you our system of government (personality of politicians aside) is worth protecting because if you look around, nothing better seems to be out there.

I'm a big fan of small businesses who pay their employees well. I want them to pay as little tax as possible. I'm not a Communist.

Um, the money is still being sent to Mexico, otherwise there is nothing to tax. The the tax income is just money from the US economy going to the US government. As you just explained, the money didn't come from Mexico. Taxing people that send money to Mexico isn't going to make that income magically come from Mexico.

Is you theory here that if you levy an 18% tax that 18% less money will go to Mexico? Because that would be pretty absurd. People will send the money that is needed or that they can afford (and most likely they will find a way around a fee that high anyway).

Oh, a video that takes quotes out of context, targets individuals who are nervous and/or unprepared or unintelligent, and is edited to "prove" a partisan point.

I watched this and forgot that we have a President who committed a felony and has created an administration of billionaires who are serving nobody's interests except their own and other billionaires. If we can only build the wall, I think we all might be able to forget that forever!

So what would your specific plan be? At present there are isolated areas throughout Arizona, New Mexico and Texas that have no walls but vehicle barriers that illegals cross into on foot into the U.S. Would you prefer this to continue without closing areas of this sort?

Mexico depends on the billions of remittance dollars to boost its economy. It basically adds to the GDP of Mexico. A remittance tax on illegal aliens sending money home is just a tax on illegal labor.

No, it is literally a tax on money sent to Mexico. You folks keep trying to pretend it's something that it's not.

You don't have to be a citizen to work in the US legally and legal residents of the US also have reasons to send money to Mexico.

Furthermore, it does not stop, interrupt, or necessarily reduce the flow of money going to Mexico, it simply taxes it. Mexico continues to get money AND PAYS NOTHING.
