Jan. 9 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he ordered the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cut off relief money for California as the state recovers from the deadliest wildfires in its history.

"Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest fires that, with proper Forest Management, would never happen," Trump tweeted Wednesday. "Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money."

Trump is pretty transparent as to how he feels about BLUE states.
Forest management. Of all the idiotic bilge that's come out of that buffoon's mouth, that term has to be nearly the dumbest.
Just clear-cut the state, I guess that's what he means.

When there's a Dem president and there's a hurricane down south I HOPE he tells FEMA to tell those Red states to F'off because they were stupid to allow cities, hotels, developments, etc. to build near the coast, right in the path of hurricanes and where the hurricans will do the most damage...

Trump was right: California’s forests have been grossly mismanaged

Trump is right. We do have a management problem on the state, federal level and local levels (in that order). This can be broken down into six key areas where we have failed: Access, logging, grazing, endangered species, water quality and air pollution.

Mismanaged, overcrowded forests provide fuel to historic California wildfires, experts say

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/p...es-experts-say

Neglect and mismanagement have left western U.S. forests overcrowded, firefighting experts say, leaving them more susceptible to the kinds of major wildfires that are currently ravaging California.

“Our forests are dramatically overcrowded,” said Krystal Beckham of the Little Hoover Commission, an independent California oversight agency that has called for major changes in the state's forest management practices.

“There are some places where there may be four times as many trees as there should be,” Beckham said. “When you have trees that close together, they can’t get the water they need, so they are more susceptible to drought, insects, and disease. And when they start dying, they become a terrible fire threat.”

Actually, even California says Trump is right about the wildfires

    https://nypost.com/2018/11/20/actual...the-wildfires/

President Trump’s critics are belittling him for not buying the lefty narrative that global warming is to blame for the California wildfires. Instead, Trump points to decades of mistakes by government agencies that caused the woodlands to become overly dense and blanketed with highly flammable dead wood and underbrush.

    He’s exactly right.

Just ask California officials. Two months ago, the state legislature enacted a measure that would expedite the removal of dead trees and use “prescribed burns” to thin forests. In other words: the very same reforms that Trump is now being mocked for proposing. The September law followed a Gov. Jerry Brown executive order earlier this year that also called for “controlled fires” to improve forest health.
    Your own articles,

California state and federal officials have responded to about 4,500 fires this year that have burned nearly 400,000 acres of land, easily outpacing last year's record burns.

Two months ago, the state legislature enacted a measure that would expedite the removal of dead trees and use “prescribed burns” to thin forests.
So why is he removing funding if they are no longer mis-managing? I mean, in 2018 they spent record amounts for this. They've made major improvements in 2018, why remove further funding?

And won't that just make matters worse?

With that being said, Trump is typically wrong on this issue:

Trump says we need to rake the forest floors
Trump spoke with the president of Finland, Sauli Niinistö and Trump claims Niinistö told him about crews that were raking the leaves.

Once California gets their rakers lined up, I'm sure Trump will be happy to reinstate funding. Jesus, Dumb as Donald. SMH.

I will give Trump one thing, he sure does take care of the leeches in his base. California's residents have paid more in federal taxes than they got back in federal spending for decades. Despite this, since they didn't vote for Trump, he doesn't care. If he could funnel every cent California residents pay in federal taxes to the states that voted for him, most of which have always received far more in spending than the residents actually paid in, Trump would do it.

That is all that this is about. Trump doesn't care about forest health. He doesn't know the first thing about it. He just wants to reward the states that voted for him and to penalize the states that didn't as much as he can.

Trump only cares about those that have done something for him. That's it. Anytime you want to understand Trump's reasoning and motivations behind his actions, always start with "Trump, an utterly despicable human being....."

The people cheering on Trump's despicable partisan act would be screaming in fear and rage if we cut off the flow of money from blue to red states via federal tax & spend.

Just the first eight feet of road frontage. I believe they are supposed to keep cut the first four, but fail to do so.
