I suppose Schumer and Pelosi figure that they can run the same scam on Trump, but I don't think he's going to be taken in by them.

Schumer and Pelosi have been in Congress for eons now, if they are all so concerned about border security, they had plenty of chances to actually do something about it, but didn't.

He also referenced those "adults" and why they are bringing all those children. But even if they were actual family units, 20,000 family units in one month is an alarming and unacceptable number.

In fiscal year (FY) 2018, 17,000 adults at the border with existing criminal records were arrested by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and border agents.

In FY2017 and FY2018, ICE officers arrested approximately 235,000 aliens on various criminal charges or convictions within the interior of the United States—including roughly 100,000 for assault, 30,000 for sex crimes, and 4,000 for homicides.

We are now averaging 60,000 illegal and inadmissible aliens a month on our Southern Border.

Last month alone, more than 20,000 minors were smuggled into the United States.

The immigration court backlog is nearly 800,000 cases.

There has been a 2,000 percent increase in asylum claims over the last five years, with the largest growth coming from Central America—while around 9 in 10 claims from Central American migrants are ultimately rejected by the immigration courts, the applicant has long since been released into the interior of the United States.

In FY2017, roughly 135,000 illegal and inadmissible family units arrived from Central America. Of those, less than 2 percent have been successfully removed from the country due to a shortage of resources and glaring loopholes in our federal laws.

So far in FY2019, we have seen a 280 percent increase in family units from FY2018.

300 Americans are killed every week from heroin—90 percent of which floods across our Southern Border.

Illegal immigration is a humanitarian crisis: 1 in 3 migrant women is sexually assaulted on the journey northward to the U.S. border; 50 illegal migrants a day are referred for emergency medical care; and CBP rescues 4,300 people a year who are in danger and distress.

Here's is what has actually been going on at the border.

Border crossing apprehensions have dramatically declined since 2000. There is no border crisis. But there is humanitarian crisis that has been created by this President's practice of using cruel policies to dissuade migrants and their children that put them increasingly in harm's way.

What was shocking to me was how bad and predictable it all was. He threw in a little about compassion, which wasn't persuasive, then fear mongered. He should have replayed a 'best of' from his rallies, and it would have been far better.

The most bizarre claim was he changed to metal slats instead of concrete because that's what Democrats wanted. It's also what the border patrol people want, and I know he couldn't care less what Democrats want, so a bizarre untruth....

Apprehensions is a misleading number. It ignores the number of people who were NOT apprehended. So...if 300,000 were apprehended in 2017 (a VERY alarming number in its own right), now many made it across without being apprehended?

Years ago it was mostly young Mexican men looking to find work in the US and these people would actively seek to evade capture by the border patrol. Now it's mostly migrants from Central America fleeing extreme poverty and violence in their home countries who come seeking an opportunity to apply for asylum in the US. In other words they are trying to do it the right way but Trump illegal directive to border security to refuse them entry and turn these people away from legal ports of entry and back into Mexico is forcing these take more dangerous forays into remote and barren stretches of the border. These people actually go seek the border patrol almost from the second they come across to turn themselves in. They not trying evade the border patrol at all.

Would you say his numbers about the specific crimes is accurate? If so, doesn't that alarm you that so many illegal aliens are committing so many crimes in the US? Don't you care about the thousands of victims of those crimes?

Using newly released detailed data on all prisoners who entered the Arizona state prison from January 1985 through June 2017, we are able to separate non-U.S. citizens by whether they are illegal or legal residents. Unlike other studies, these data do not rely on self-reporting of criminal backgrounds. Undocumented immigrants are at least 142% more likely to be convicted of a crime than other Arizonans. They also tend to commit more serious crimes and serve 10.5% longer sentences, more likely to be classified as dangerous, and 45% more likely to be gang members than U.S. citizens. Yet, there are several reasons that these numbers are likely to underestimate the share of crime committed by undocumented immigrants. There are dramatic differences between in the criminal histories of convicts who are U.S. citizens and undocumented immigrants.

Young convicts are especially likely to be undocumented immigrants. While undocumented immigrants from 15 to 35 years of age make up slightly over two percent of the Arizona population, they make up about eight percent of the prison population. Even after adjusting for the fact that young people commit crime at higher rates, young undocumented immigrants commit crime at twice the rate of young U.S. citizens. These undocumented immigrants also tend to commit more serious crimes.

If undocumented immigrants committed crime nationally as they do in Arizona, in 2016 they would have been responsible for over 1,000 more murders, 5,200 rapes, 8,900 robberies, 25,300 aggravated assaults, and 26,900 burglaries.

How sad is it that politics fueled by the hatred for Trump will result in three sets of winners. The human traffickers, the drug smugglers, and the massive number of illegals pouring across our borders knowing damn well once they reach this country they can wait it out a short period in detention then get released to a location of their choice and disappear in a sanctuary city or California the first declared Sanctuary state.

The losers are all the immigrants waiting in line abiding by our laws to enter this country.

The many people getting addicted to cheap heroin pouring across the Southern border which the pushers are targeting our youth ...the young and dumb. A crisis many cities across this country have felt the devastation.

The increase in deaths from fentanyl also targeting the youth a substance pouring across the Southern border.

The cost to the American taxpayers federal and state having to provide for illegals in forms of welfare, the cost of cleaning up the devastation of illegal drugs from the additional police and court costs to the cost to incarcerate those captured. But the cost of the loss of human life and devastation these deeds cause is worst of all.


Then a big loser are those who get caught up in human trafficking that force people into sex slavery and other types of shady deals that hits women and children the hardest.


You can't claim there is no crisis at the border and that our border is secure out of one side of your mouth with the number of illegals pouring across our borders has overwhelmed our system. The loopholes in our system are the very thing that is attracting so many to illegally cross. It is insanity.

Today I heard the new lefty governor of California declare they welcome all illegals and a plan for healthcare for all. I heard the same schpill from the leftist leaders in NY. They have officially put out the welcome mat to encourage more illegal immigrants to make the journey yet they can't get a handle on the homeless in their major cities. Of course it involves more taxation for those who actually pay. Prepare for a major exodus from both states in the near future.

Poverty and violence do not justify being granted asylum. Perhaps that's why over 90% are rejected. In any case, not being able to get asylum is not a justification for entering illegally.

Border Patrol can't catch them all...even if some of them do turn themselves in if Border Patrol is around.

Furthermore, Mexico has offered them asylum. Trump hasn't forced them to do anything. They make a conscious choice to enter the US illegally.

Oh...one more thing...about those "young Mexican men looking to find work...". Did you even look at who makes up the lion's share of those caravans? Estimates are over 85% were single, adult males. Looking for work. The only difference between now and "years ago" is that they are coming from Central America instead of Mexico.

Of course the GOP have had their chances, including the last two years. What did the GOP House do this summer? Oh yeah, nothing. They tried and couldn't get a bill through the House, even where they needed zero Democratic votes. When did the GOP House and GOP Senate fund Trump's wall request? Oh, right, never.

Your complete ignorance of how drugs come into the US is just embarrassing.

Fentanyl can be ordered on line from china, no one needs to risk their life smuggling it.

Anything a single person is trying to get a cross the border is too small of an amount to even worry about.

Drug cartels are using drones, airplanes, boats, and submarines.

This is a manufactured crisis, we have not needed a wall for centuries and we don't need one now...
