[W:108:129]Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

Re: Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

The Buddhist symbol goes the other direction. It's not the same. Nor would it be decorated the same.

You got your username from a surfing movie, didn't you.

In my many trips to Asia I have seen these symbols first hand but my dyslexia confuses me as to what direction they are facing...

...and it is a bank robbing and sky diving movie.

Re: Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

I can't believe this has to be said in the US in 2018, but when we allow one person to deny goods and services to a group of people based on personal characteristics that they cannot change, then we allow all people to do the same. That's how a mere sixty years ago, there were entire towns, cities, and counties where a black person couldn't rent a hotel room, buy a meal, fill a gasoline tank, or buy a cake.

Oh, they can change those characteristics. It’s a choice.

There is nothing in the Bible claiming being Black or Brown is a sin.

Re: Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

One side is morally superior. Those who would not refuse service based on customer.

Unless it’s someone you dislike, then it’s totally cool.

You agreed.

That side must be distinct from those who would discriminate based on customer. In this case, those are - exclusively - on the right.

What in that is false?

Your assertion that only those on the right “discriminate based on the customer” is false. Your relative support or agreement or apologism for other types of discrimination is irrelevant to the inaccuracy of your statement.

So stupid.

So stupid.

You said one side was morally superior and that’s the one that doesn’t discriminate based on the customer. Do you still stand by that?

Subject being protected class, the topic of the thread.

Only an idiot would believe discrimination based on protected class is the same as other discrimination. It's snowflake victim boy BS.

You don't see the difference?

You think it's based on who I dislike?

So ****ing stupid.

Merry Christmas, X! :)

Why do you oppose free speech?

Why do you not understand the concept of free speech?

A. It allows you to play victim for Nazis.

B. Horrible, pathetic ignorance.

Which is it? Both?

Why do you oppose free speech?

Denying service to a person is not free speech... why do you support the Nazis?

Re: Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

It only took 3 or 4 posts to illustrate to you how stupid your post was that I am anti-religious and that I take this personally...

That isn't my opinion, it's an established fact and you are the one who established it:

God is a delusional and stupid concept...

You just admitted that "God is a delusional and stupid concept" which explains why you reject the fact that Jack Phillips has the constitutionally guaranteed right of freedom of religion. You see religious belief as stupid, therefore any right protecting it is also stupid.

That's it. I'm hitting the eggnog too.

Re: Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

Including protected class, the topic of the thread.

I’m prepare to agree with your statement if you’re saying that the morally superior position is not to discriminate against a customer but I cannot agree if you justify some types of discrimination. You lose your own moral high ground when you make exceptions.

Re: Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

I found it interesting in an article I read that he also won’t make items for Halloween.

I think his refusal to create anything is kind of silly... But far be it for me to sit in judgement of the moral or religious beliefs of others.

No. I'm not gonna include your snowflake crybaby gay-hating BS. It's not the same. Pretending it's the same is homophobic.

Discrimination based on protected class is wrong, morally inferior, and exclusively the territory of conservatives. End of story.

I do understand that you can support the right of someone to speak but still hate the message. It’s easy to support free speech when everyone likes or agrees with it.

I don't need your idiotic platitudes.

Learn what protected class means, why it's important and why one shouldn't play the snowflake card like it's a race card.

So discrimination against customers isn’t the same thing as discrimination against customers? Why didn’t you just say that rather than phrase it in a way, initially, that suggests you’re even handed about it?

I bet you idiotically drop context in the middle of a discussion to "make a point" a lot, don't you?

That's it. I'm hitting the eggnog too.

Enjoy... Sipping eggnog is one of my favorite Christmas traditions.

Full disclosure, that was metaphorical. But I think I'll have a wheat beer.

The lack of clarity is on your part, not mine.

Siding with Jack Phillips and religious freedom doesn't make me or anyone else homophobic or anti-transgendered.

Just as supporting immigation laws and securing our border doesn't makes me an anti-latino bigot.
Just as opposing affirmative action doesn't make me a racist.
Just as supporting more thorough screenings of people entering the US from certain Muslim ruled countries doesn't makes me an Islamaphobe.

Identity politics will destroy this country unless people like yourself put an end to it.

Re: Colorado baker back in court after refusing to make cake celebrating gender transition

That baker has to realize that this is 2018 and the United States of America.

Whether he likes it or not, every business must serve everyone. No exceptions.

There are probably other people who do not like these public accommodation laws. Tough buns. There is simply no going back to the days before the 1960s.

If the baker feels so strongly about his religious beliefs, then he has only one remedy: Sell his business and find another occupation.

(I hear that Airbnb is telling potential hosts the same thing: Either accept our non-discrimination policy or do not ask to be an Airbnb host.)
