[W:607]Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

That's your standard New England elitist view of immigration. Congrats.

Don't be jealous because I have a job that requires skills.

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

If you look back to previous posts, I agreed to go after employers and renters. I have my own business and have never used an illegal or migrant worker.

If you cross the border regularly you have bound to have seen the increase in technology deployed there. That along with a wall and manpower are the only ways to plug the holes. Your excuses for why all those solutions won't work is noted.
Great! So why isn't the government doing it? Do you agree it's a cheaper, more efficient option that would not only stop enticing new illegals, but push the ones already here to self-deport?

Yes, I've seen great strides in security since 9/11. Your false claim that I said a wall won't work is a sign of your desperation and willingness to take the low road. I never said that and will donate $25 to the forum if you can quote me ever saying "walls don't work". I've always said there are more efficient means we should be doing first. Specifically legislation and enforcement against hiring or harboring illegals. The fact "new Republicans" are so quick to blow billions of dollars on a white elephant without enacting cheaper, more efficient methods first is just another sign of the Republican's decline.

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

He doesn't tho. He has his states he likes and they aren't blue.

Agreed, unfortunately that's nothing new. The Liberals have joked for over two decades that "the flyover states don't count". Their push to eliminate the Electoral College dovetails directly into that ideology.

As for Trump, I doubt he even likes the Red states unless they can do something for him. Republicans like Red States, Trump just likes Trump. He's a poor President and I hope to see him resign.

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

What a bunch of BS! Overall illegal aliens put in much more into system than they take out. And if you are going to talk about people depending on a welfare system for generations you might want to ask yourself then what all those people whom depend upon federal programs down in the Mid-West, South and South-Western America would do without the benefit of that social safety net

1) Why has the needle failed to move for solving the illegal immigration problem since Reagan? The fact remains too much money is made off of what is essentially indentured servitude. We need to solve this problem and claiming illegals are better than Americans "Mid-West, South and South-Western America" is not helping. Have you considered that one reason people in those states you detest so much can't get decent jobs because the illegals are doing it for under minimum wage? If you want to build a house, a construction company will quote you a price based on industry-average wages for workers, but by using illegals, they pay those workers under the table for far less than industry-average and pocket the rest. Good for the company but bad for Americans looking for a minimum-wage or higher job.

2) The constant hate spewed by the Left toward "Mid-West, South and South-Western America" isn't new. It dates back to the Civil War and is just another reason why millions of Americans don't trust Democrats, Limousine Liberals or anyone on the far Left.

3) As noted previously, the Left loves to crap all over "the flyover states". It's just more evidence that the Left Wing doesn't care about fairness or democracy. All they care about is power and taking care of themselves. Something they have in common with Trump.

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

Nancy was trying to give Trump a chance not to hang himself in public. Not surprisingly, Trump couldn’t resist. Also not surprisingly, Trump-suckers, blinded by their undying loyalty to a man who couldn’t care less about them, make up weak deflections like the one I just quoted.

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

Hmmm... do your reports say "all"? No. As far as I know terrorist suspect ARE caught trying to walk across too....you seem to be stuck in the 'all or nothing ' paradigm....I clearly said a wall is only one piece.

Define "terrorist". A Middle-Eastern Jihadist wearing a suicide belt isn't the same as a cocaine "mule" or even a Cartel member traveling on "business".

Agreed the wall is "one piece", but it should be the last piece, not the first.

BTW, your signature quote is false. This is the actual quote: https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Alexis_de_Tocqueville#Chapter_I-V
"There is in fact a manly and legitimate passion for equality that spurs all men to wish to be strong and esteemed. This passion tends to elevate the lesser to the rank of the greater. But one also finds in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to want to bring the strong down to their level, and which reduces men to preferring equality in servitude to inequality in freedom."

I'm not the one with all the clever ways to overcome a wall. It worked well in combating invaders in other countries and it can help here.

BTW: I don't have the numbers in front of me but, if you look at the costs of going after renters and employers, it will likely be a lot more expensive and take a greater toll on the citizenry as opposed to a wall/infrastructure. Either way a combination of the above might well be necessary.

How much is it worth to secure our borders?

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

Don't be jealous because I have a job that requires skills.

Agreed. OTOH, a major problem in our nation is that we aren't helping our citizens acquire skills for 21st century jobs. The concept of "teach a man to fish" comes to mind, especially when we look at how many people are on welfare in this country. Better to teach them than to just carry them for several reasons; more cost efficient, better for their self-esteem and better for the nation in terms of efficiency and GDP.

Translation: You are correct RS. You never said walls don't work and I deliberately made a false statement when I claimed you did.

Your focus on the wall and the limited efficiency it would have versus other measures is noted. Since you spoke falsely about me then I have no reason to think you don't speak falsely every time you post.

The Constitution's Preamble charges the Federal government to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity". Not anyone else, just us. All of us, not just the 1/3 who like Trump. This also means the Federal government has a fiduciary responsibility to carry out these actions responsibly and efficiently, not for vanity projects of a minority few.

If I'm lying then we both are. OUR preoccupation with the wall and ways to overcome it, not withstanding.

So we both agree that "comprehensive" [I hate that word] border security is a must and something our government is sworn to accomplish.

Bull****. You're the one who falsely posted that I said walls don't work. That's a lie since I never said it nor implied it. Obviously walls work. They go back to ancient times. What I've always advocated is that there are more efficient and cost effective means to solve the problem yet those means are being overlooked in a rush to build a 2000 mile long monument to Trump.

I've always stated that national security is one of the primary functions of the Federal government. It's in the Constitution.

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

If you truly want a better world for your grand children as well as their children, pull your head out, and stop supporting and defending immoral assholes like Trump who thinks it is of to grab women's private parts. The man doesn't give a flying squat about you, your children, your grand children, or the USA. Time for you wake up SLC.
In my opinion Hillary was a horrible choice and ultimately her and Obama corrupted the DOJ , FBI, and State Department. How you ask? In my opinion they wanted Hillary to President so Loretta Lynch and Comey and members of the State Department could keep their jobs . In my opinion they used our intelligence community to send spies to try to infiltrate the Trump campaign. They lied to FISA judge to put wire taps on and American citizen member of the Trump campaign. In my opinion they unmasked the phone conversations hundreds of American citizens for political purposes . You are putting style Trump BS bragging. It was locker room talk and isn't true. Distasteful yes, true no. Its a style and substance thing. In my opinion Bill raped women, exposed himself to women, prayed on Whitehouse aide that he was the boss of who were have half his age and you wanted him to live in the White House again. I have watched Hillary closely since Bill began running for President. I have a sister in law that was a Ducks Unlimited Model at a convention in Arkansas and Bill was a the Governor at the time. Bill sent a state policeman to try to get her to come to Bill hotel room when that did not work Bill himself tried to convince her to come to his hotel room . Sound familiar? My sister in law told me about her encounter when she recognized Bill on TV as he was a candidate for his first Presidential primary run. So as you can imagine I wasn't surprised when his penis got him in trouble as a President.

Prior to 2016I didn't like Trump as a person I thought he was a crass egotistical braggart and I still pretty much have the same opinion of him as a person but I like his politics. I agree with most but not all of the things he has done politically. If Hillary had won we would have never found the corruption of the DOJ and FBI . Do I wish Trump would tone his bragging down sure but do I think our Southern border need a wall sure do.

I don't think we can tolerate using our government to try to influence and election and I think that is more important that disliking Trump as a person.

There have been a few in the past ten years who tried to get in through the Mexican border but seeing that 10 suspected terrorists try to enter the US through visas and boat/plain/land travel, the few captured at the southern border, most of them from what I have read is that they tried to enter through a customs checkpoint. That is what I stated that coming in through another method is far more prevalent and logical. Hence my comment about an amoeba trying to be bombed with all the nukes in the world.

Because say 6 have been arrested historically illegally trying to come through the US-Mexico border but because that might be due to under reporting, lets say 20 have tried to cross illegally through the US Mexico border. But say that in the years since 2002 (September 11 and US war with Afghanistan) 15 million people illegally crossing the border since 2002. That makes the odds of someone trying to illegally cross the US/Mexico border is a 0.0001% chance. Which is a very small number to be honest. It may not be none but compared to the people trying to cross the border legally it is virtually nothing per year.

Re: Trump Oval Office meeting with Pelosi, Schumer spirals over border wall — live updates

We take in 1 million per year...how many is enough for you?

Are we now talking about legal immigration or illegal immigration because I was purely talking about illegal immigration. And people who are taken in as you say pay their taxes and mostly work and contribute to the US economy from the start.

I said BORDER SECURITY
How many times does your side fall for the flim-flam? They aren't fighting about border security. It's all about the wall.

Yes, "Everything the Left believes is complete fiction…" -- says the guy who thinks that cutting taxes increases government revenue and that coal is coming back.
Yes, guess it is hard to read treasury data obviously the left-wing media and big government nanny-state radicals like you will never accept the official data is being accurate

I don't think anyone would argue with this. I completely agree.

Doesn't mean you're in touch with reality.

I didn't vote for Trump. I'm more in touch with reality than the people who did. Like you.

Did you ever take a civics class to learn the role of the various governments we have? Why is it in your world that the American taxpayers are the only ones that need to go on a diet?

Here is your reality, results don't matter, personality does. it is more important to have someone in the WH that you like vs. someone in the WH generating the results we have today
