John Kelly, hired to restore order for President Donald Trump, is out as chief of staff

trump and Kelly weren't even on speaking terms for the last 6 months...trump wanted to fire his ass back then...But he had to fire Omarossa-Sessions-Haley-McMaster etc first....He has got to spread it around....Mattis is Next

It might be a lot more humiliating t o stay in the Trump regime. Things are unravelling pretty fast now.

Kelly was one of the architects of the family separation policy. In spite of the fact he was almost the last adult standing, I won't be shedding any tears.

Indeed...He disgraced himself rolling in the Mud defending trump...He needs to go away and hang his head in shame

Kelly left as all former Trump associates and appointments have left: disgraced and humiliated. And there'll always be new people who want to sign up, thinking, "But I'll be different!"

Play in a dumpster fire and you're bound to get burned.

Ummmmmmmmmm. Trump did not appoint Kelly to manage the president and that was not his job after he got it. Again, you're drinking too much of the liberal kool aid. People get appointed by Trump, not to manage Trump.

So you agree that trump HIRED tillerson, omarosa, nikky hayley, sessions, cohen, flynn and kelly. Could you tell us all where they are now? Oh we know Kelly is gonna hang around flr a few more weeks. Probably has to finish shredding all the documents that would incriminate him, trump and the other crooks.

It's Mueller time!

Elect a clown and you get a circus.

What on Earth are you talking about? Back to the liberal kool aid again? We were talking about the comment that Kelly was trying to manage Trump or keep him in line. I commented that that was ridiculous and then you post this nonsense which has absolutely nothing to do with my post.

Yes it's impossible because Trump has absolutely zero leadership capabilities. Anyone who's ever had even the tiniest leadership position and enough brain power to actually form a coherent thought learns pretty quickly that they don't know everything and that it's important to surround themselves with qualified people and actually listen to them. With few exceptions Trump hasn't done the former and without exception hasn't done the latter.

Oh and while it's not the point of the OP knowing what you don't know helps too. It's no sin for someone in a leadership position to not know something. It's a major problem if they either don't realize they don't know something or - not knowing it - refuse to get educated.

Again, drinking from the liberal kool aid. Why is it you guys have such a reading comprehension problem? I responded to a post which implied that Kelly was managing Trump and keeping him in line to keep citizens safe from a crazy president, with me posting that that was nonsense. Your post has zero to do with that.

Trump didn't fire Kelly, Kelly resigned.

Obviously the terms "constructive dismissal" and "jump before being pushed" are totally outside of your comprehension.

BTW, Mr. Trump NEVER fires anyone personally - he gets some flunky to do his dirty work for him. This was slightly more difficulty with respect to Gen Kelly since there wasn't anyone in the chain of command between him and Mr. Trump.

Say what you want but Trump did not "fire" General Kelly. He either retired, left the job, or resigned.

What does being white have to do with this?

What percentage of Mr. Trump's senior cabinet positions are held by "NON-White" people?

What is the percentage of "NON-White" people in the US population?

Draw your own conclusions.

Whatever makes you think I "drink the liberal kool aid"? That's my assessment of his leadership skills based on 30+ years of having leadership positions, and viewing real leaders up close and personal in organizations ranging from 20 people to 150,000 people in size. I've said from day 1 that Trump is a poor choice for President because he has never had to manage a real organization. His company is a privately held venture so he can be as autocratic as he wants. That doesn't work in public corporations or in government.
And in that sense at least Rex Tillerson's comments are right on point. All big, successful organizations are disciplined and process driven and the boss cannot simple go with his intuition.

And my comments are germane to your point. At a minimum a chief of staff's job is to manage the executive's office and office staff. Generally they also control access to the executive and along with the rest of the senior leadership assist the executive with actually leading the organizations. Part of any senior assistant's job is to "manage their boss." That was part of Kelly's job even if he was serving a normal President and a normal President would realize that. Trump's not a normal President.

Actually I know you are somewhat independent and don't usually drink from the liberal kool aid. But, you responded to my post to someone else who claimed that Kelly was trying to manage Trump and reign him in as part of his civic duty to protect us from Trump and I called that post out as being nonsense. I really don't know why you butted into that conversation and went off on a tangent. I can only assume you didn't read the chain of events in this thread.

I didn't read the entire chain and was responding to the idea, as I saw it, that you were dismissive of the idea that Kelly as chief of staff has no role in managing his boss. In truth I suspect that Kelly may have taken the job in part because he saw it as his duty to help a very inexperienced person who's organization appears to be chaotic - to say the least - but I'm really just guessing.

Trump's organizational and managerial inexperience and the fact that many people thought him qualified to run the country because he ran a business is a particular hot button issue for me. It completely ignores the fact that all organizations are not created equal and I personally fear that one of the aftermaths of the Trump presidency may be that very experienced private sector leaders who could be good presidents will not be looked at so part of my motivation was probably just to beat that horse a little more. Sorry that I got on my soapbox at your expense.

trump wanted to fire Kelley's ass last spring...But had to fire others first......trump told Kelly I want you gone by years end...(Fired!) Kelly gets to say he is "resigning"...To save what little dignity he has left

Saying Kelly was fired is like saying you were banned from this form when you actually voluntarily left

I had nothing to do with Kelly being fired...Nice try trying to make it about me....Somewhat flattered

Nick Ayers has turned down the job AND will be leaving at the end of the year (he probably does not want to be there for the **** storm that 2019 will be).

Who's next? Jr's GF is available.

Serious question: is there a person with an appetite for abuse and humiliation large enough to take that job?
