Gay priests must be celibate or leave priesthood, Pope says

And they end up raping boys. The perfect cases for why celebacy is stupid. It's not conicidence that there is higher rate of pedophilia in catholic priests that have to remain celebate. It's just unhealthy. Sexual repression makes people do monstrous things, just look at all the **** that happens in the middle east. Or the rapes in India because there are so many more men than women in that country

I don't think celibacy makes pedophiles as much as it encourages those whose appetites differ to become priests.

The church wants healthy, young, straight men to enter the priesthood. The thing is, a healthy young straight man wants to have sex with women.

And yet, oddly, I know two of them very well. One was one of the first four Episcopalian priests ordained in the U.S. by the Catholic Church; the other was a very successful journalist (whose book was made into a movie-for-TV) who then became an Episcopalian priest. A third, whom I've met but don't know, spent a career in the Forestry Service, was widowed, and then entered the seminary. So in my own experience, it's not "few and far between."

Because of what I regard as the schism in the Episcopal Church, I believe there will many more reordinations. It's just me would disagree, I think, because the Anglican group of which he is a member is also increasing. And more and more men are discovering a "delayed vocation" too: Increasing number of men pursuing 'delayed vocation' to the priesthood

I was a bit confused here.... Episcopal is obviously not Catholic.

It appears that a Roman Catholic Priest can BE married, if they were a married Episcopal priest (no prohibition for that religion), leave the Episcopal church, and convert to Catholicism. This was a policy put in place by Pope John Paul in response to all of the disagreements in that church, in order to give these priests a way to continue their ministry. In 2017, there were 120 in the US>

Married Catholic priests? There are perhaps 120 in the U.S. already. Here's how - Los Angeles Times

Otherwise, Catholic clergy can't marry. A deacon can be married when they become a deacon, but they can never transition into the priesthood.
