Trump Trip to Pay Tribute to U.S. Fallen Canceled in French Rain

Again more excuses.

It is not on a "country road".

All the other world leaders.. actual leaders, could make it in the rain and by road and helicopter.

Stop making pathetic excuses for a weasel of a man. I mean .. the excuses..

SS com gear is not waterproof.. laughable. Does that mean that Seal Team 6 does not have waterproof gear as well?
No "beast" car .. despite the car following the president everywhere in the world. This is a fact going back decades.. ever watch National Geographic or Discovery?

What excuse is next? Bonespurs?

Not excuses -- it was the explanation given, and a very reasonable one. Perhaps you should take a step back and look at the situation with a little less venom.

Skipped dinner with who? Perhaps start a thread on that if it concerns you.

No one said he couldn't go. They said it created significant logistical issues to schedule a last minute presidential motorcade 55 miles to a special event through the French countryside. They opted out of the additional logistical nightmare, and expense. Note, again, that this wasn't the primary event for the trip.

Wow.

You’re real good at rationalizations.

Unless I'm missing something what else did Trump have scheduled between going to the memorial and then meeting up for dinner later?

According to his tweet he used the time for phone calls. Something he probably could have done during travel.

Added he's kept these people waiting on him before so showing up late for either event would have been more likely seen as par for the course, imo.

The President of the United States cannot allow himself to be prevented from honoring American war dead by rain, especially when others made the trip. The failure is only made worse by memory of the rain and mud in which these dead lost their lives.

That’s nice.

Obama never ran anything except his mouth.

That did not work out well for the US, or the world. He was a ghost candidate, but with a clear Marxist and racist past.

He did not have much of a record coming into office... except failure... and when he left, he added mightily to the failure.

And... he failed again this past election.

Trump failed to honor the troops. Trump failed to walk to the ceremony. Trump failed to be on time to meetings. He's losing it and you're fine with it.

Fortunately he was able to salvage the situation by staying indoors and tweeting threats to rescind federal funding for California because the state’s on fire.

What else would you as the leader of a country, but attack your fellow citizens when they are at their most desperate?

Pure Trump that is.

(sigh)

Yet again a "non-issue" being made an issue of to discredit the President.

Just another day in the "We hate Trump, see why?" hit parade that just keeps on playing over and over in the Forum these days. :coffeepap:

A non -issue?? Hmm wonder what you would have said had that been Obama.............

This thread is about Trump but as you've just made a claim - can you show the US employment statistics over Obama's period to show whether he was the failure you claim?
Equally, can you post the Obama GDP figures over his period just to show how he failed?

Wow Jack - first time in years I agreed with you on anything.

Under what circumstances can a President override the Secret Service? Serious question.

According to the AP:

The determination to ground Marine One, the president’s helicopter, due to bad weather is made by the Marine Corps and the White House Military Office, which then presents the recommendation to the White House in collaboration with the Secret Service, according to a Secret Service official. https://www.apnews.com/52462add34fd45ecb16319b564045d61

I care more about what people do with their actions, Trump honors our troops in many other ways and if it has anything to do with how I feel, I do pay respects on Memorial Day and support honoring our veterans.

If your Prime Minister really cared about sacrifices and the military he'd push Canada to meet it's NATO obligations and be a good military ally instead of piggybacking off the US for defense like much of the world does. But hey, at least he makes for a good pretty boy among the selfie culture.

Yeah, sure he does.

Short answer: I don't know, but the POTUS is the C-in-C.
More thoughtful: No one should fly in unsafe conditions, but there was a ground transport option and others got there.

Don't misunderstand; I agree with you. I just wonder what the protocol is.

Better question: has any other world leader cancelled commemorating fallen soldiers because of rain? Has another US president cancelled a similar event due to rain?

Mind you, pictures (the ones showing the other world leaders at the event) prove this was just rain. So, don't play games and bring up situations like hurricanes, tornadoes or other major weather catastrophes which may have cancelled an event here and there over the eons of time.

trump refused a motorcade....He couldn't bother with any tribute to fallen soldiers.....Event was outdoors, trump wouldn't take a chance he might get rained on....Basically an embarrassment for the United States but the Europeans are used to it, counting the days until he is gone

He can under just about any circumstance, but only an idiot would do so when the flight crew says it's unsafe to fly.

I guess this president never heard of driving

Oh that's right. He's too good to sit an hour in a car just to commemorate fallen soldiers.

The president (any president) is the leader of the free world. His safety is more important than any other world leader.

If evac aircraft are grounded due to weather, then the scenario changes significantly.

Have you thought out the possibility of President Trump dying in office? Thst would be the worst thing for the Leftists. Not to mention the possibility of a 10 year Pence presidency.

I guess you"e never heard of emergency air support that al United States presidents have in place. Plus, the security concerns that no doubt the Secret Service mentioned.

Soon as the media published a dozen panty-wetting-reports about the air support being grounded, they announced to every nutjob in town that a ground route would be possible.

The Secret Service would have to secure the route, prior and that could take days.

Damn, but Liberals are stupid...lol

Keep advertising your ignorance. Proof still that being educated doesn't make one smart.

Fallen soldiers?...Over 1,000 buried there...Many under 21 years of age....Still trump couldn't muster up the courage of standing in the rain for a few moments to acknowledge their sacrifice....Deplorable really
