Trump Trip to Pay Tribute to U.S. Fallen Canceled in French Rain

Re: Rain Stops Trump in France

And trump will happily fetch anything in the rain when his master Putin commands him to.

Some pets will do anything for a loving pat on the head.

Fortunately he was able to salvage the situation by staying indoors and tweeting threats to rescind federal funding for California because the state’s on fire.

Rain won't stop trump from playing golf.

Re: Rain Stops Trump in France

Who am I to judge?
I go by what I read until I have more information. Read the Bloomberg article. It states that due to the rain it would be logistically impossible for the helicopter to get to the ceremony.
That tells me that because of the president's tight schedule, it could only be reached by car, and that would present a conflict in the president's itinerary. Hence, he is sending Generals Kelly and Dunford on his behalf.
No big deal afaic, but I can understand how his haters are full of the faux outrage.

There is nothing on his schedule other than the ceremony he skipped.

Re: Rain Stops Trump in France

Either he is still sulking about the election results

Or he hates being in the presence of Merkel and macron

The optics are SO bad, his team will come up with some alternative fact to explain it away.

If your Prime Minister really cared about sacrifices and the military he'd push Canada to meet it's NATO obligations and be a good military ally instead of piggybacking off the US for defense like much of the world does. But hey, at least he makes for a good pretty boy among the selfie culture.

We all know the only way you can be a good ally to the US to spend billions on massive conventional militaries that we can then drag into another Middle Eastern quagmire because of the incompetence of American foreign policy.

Like I get it, it's fun to make fun of the Germans for the Bundeswehr for being in such a sorry state, but don't try some bull**** that Germany spending $90 billion on defense serves any other purpose than to eventually support whatever next regime change the US decides to implement in the Middle East.

Re: Rain Stops Trump in France

Had the rest of the leaders also been affected, as well as Kelly and Dunford then fine. As it stands now, it looks pretty bad.

I'm nearly certain of a few things. The weather wasn't a surprise, our aircraft can fly in a little rain, and if it was important to him he could have made it there. The others did make it, somehow, as did others in the U.S. delegation. If there's a reason everyone but Trump could make it, I'd like to hear it.

Exactly....that is why I think there is a little bit more to this not reported. Yet.

Could Trump be more of a coward?

The weather was awful! look at the heavy raingear that French cyclist was wearing today!!

Been a pretty bad ally eh Digsbe...

Why don't you go through this list, and let the families of these fallen soldiers know that.

I'm sure they'd appreciate hearing from you.

I'm not trying to downplay Canada's sacrifices, but to frame Trudeau as somehow being more "pro-military" or something over going to a cemetery while his government does not meet NATO obligations seems pretty hypocritical.

Let's hear from Trudeau!

"As we sit here in the rain, thinking how uncomfortable we must be, these minutes as our suits get wet and our hair gets wet and our shoes get wet, I think it's all the more fitting that we remember on that day, in Dieppe, the rain wasn't rain, it was bullets," Justin Trudeau

One who is not afraid to leave the fake hair cake out in the rain.

Why is your president afraid of the rain?

This one wasn't.

I’ll just point out that this wasn’t from today... the Dieppe raid was in August of 1942 in WW2.

But the point does stand- Can you imagine if Obama and his wife traveled to France only to skip the point of going there?

Digsbe wouldn’t be whining about Trudeau’s NATO contribution, I bet.

(sigh)

Yet again a "non-issue" being made an issue of to discredit the President.

Just another day in the "We hate Trump, see why?" hit parade that just keeps on playing over and over in the Forum these days. :coffeepap:

DJT deserves every hit he takes over this. The idea that the President of the United States is prevented by rain from honoring Americans fallen in war is shameful and disgusting.

Not necessarily more pro-military, but honorable. Trump behaved dishonorably.

Because it's nothing more than ceremonial photo-op feel good stuff. I'd prefer that he go but him not going is a nonissue.

Go tell the vets finding buddies name on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall that they are there just for the photo op.

In the rain.

We all know it’s not about the helicopter. Or the rain.

It’s about the hairdo and the fact that Merkel and Macron will make fun of him behind his back for not knowing the difference between Baltic and Balkans despite having a wife from Slovenia.

(FYI- for digsbe’s information, Slovenia was a part of Yugoslavia.)

My husband's 2 x g-uncle, 18 y/o, killed at Marne, 19 July 1918, buried at Oise-Aisne, Fere-en- Tardenois, Plot A, Row 34, Grave 15, gave his life for a nation who elected a CiC who has no regard for our veterans?
