Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized Thursday after fracturing three ribs on her left side in a fall at her office a day earlier, the court said in a news release.

Ginsburg, 85, initially went home after the accident, which occurred in her Supreme Court office. But she later reported experiencing some discomfort, and was admitted to George Washington University Hospital "for observation and treatment."

She is as strong as nails. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

She should really be more careful about these things. Does she have any idea how important her life is for the future of America?

Can we stuff RBG in a cryogenic tube with Walt Disney for two more years?

I'm asking for a friend.

I hope and pray for Justice Ginsburg's speedy recovery. That said, it looks like Trump may get another SCOTUS pick before this is all over

This is why the Senate races were so important. Sure the Democrats in the House can obstruct and or stall Trump and the GOPs agenda, but the GOPs gains in the Senate mean that Trump can continue to appoint Conservative judgesa and new SCOTUS judges and there's nothing the Democrats can do to stop it.

I’m thinking “foul play!” Check Kavanaugh’s calendar!

Can you imagine what Walt Disney would think? He passed in DEC66......

How much I have changed since the GOP's descent into Trumpian Hell.

I used to hate when people strutted around being all proud that the Notorious RBG was in their corner. If I responded at all to a health setback it would have been something polite that I was trying to mean because I want to be a nice person, but I would have been glad to see her retire.

Now I'm here rooting for her recovery and continuing health so she can stay on the court and help hold the line against the rightwing agenda.

C'mon RBG!!!

This is the second time she has fallen and broken ribs. She survived Cancer. This lady is a battle ax. She has taken hits, but she keeps going.

Wishing her well.

Trump will be re-elected and will eventually replace Ginsburg and Breyer.

7-2.

This. And the new House coming in next year can do nothing to obstruct any new judges Trump appoints. They'll criticize but that's all they can do.

On top of that, it's been known that Ginsburg does in fact have many health problems. 15 years ago, roughly, the same thing happened to her. She had been a multiple cancer survivor, which probably does play a big role in her health.

This is not me hoping that she gets off the SCOTUS bench so Trump can put someone in: Ginsburg, for her own sake, may want to retire soon. We don't know what else could have been ruptured. Internal bleeding is possible and since she has a stent in her right coronary artery, it could have disturbed that tremendously. And if any kind of bad reaction to any meds that are taken, that can spell something horrible for her. I hope she recovers well.

Way too old to be a justice. She falls asleep, and keeps falling down. Time for her to resign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't mind me asking. What caused you to change? I can understand someone who is right leaning and still support right wing thinking at the same time oppose Trump.

I changed because the GOP was voting against even things they supposedly agreed with, just to stick it to Obama. They were voting against helping veterans and against other things that I care about which they used to be interested in investing in -- such as infrastructure.

The Tea Party claimed to care about fiscal responsibility, and I helped elected some Tea Party candidates, but they turned out to be a Trojan Horse. After blocking anything Obama was doing, their other main interest was to pass legislation restricting abortion. I didn't vote for that. And in Scott Walker's case, he was moderate when we elected him, but then did a far right pivot in order to try to win the GOP nomination.

When the GOP was addressing fiscal matters during the Obama years, instead of doing anything meaningful there they did nickle and dime stuff. Like attacking food stamps, even though that was a very small part of the budget. And sometimes even doing things like pushing for drug testing of welfare recipients even if that would cost more than what they might save in welfare payments.

They had years to come up with a workable, humane "repeal and replace" proposition to give us instead of Obamacare, but we got crickets. When they finally got Trump for president and had a chance to pass good legislation, they had nothing. Because they had long ago stopped being about solutions. They were all about obstructing Obama. I saw this in 2014 when they got the Senate. I kept waiting for them to show they deserved the reins -- waiting for them to craft some common ground legislation which Obama could sign ... but they kept being do-nothings. So I gave up on them and started listening more to people like Warren and Sanders (and an acquaintance on another forum who was a somewhat progressive Republican and caught heck for it) and then the GOP went full-Trump and if I had any doubt, it was all gone. There was nothing left there for me in the GOP.

And when I cut the ties with the GOP, I was free to embrace some of my more liberal tendencies that I had been tamping down. :)

Thank you for your time and reply. I certainly do understand your reasons. I used to be a registered Republican but changed to Independent in 2004 and will always remain so.

She’s up and working in hospital room today.
They said she is in good spirts and even cracking jokes.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is already up and working in her hospital room, a day after breaking three ribs in a fall, her nephew said late on Thursday at the Hollywood premiere of a film about her life.

Ginsburg, a ground-breaking liberal jurist who at 85 is the oldest U.S. Supreme Court justice, was hospitalized on Thursday after falling at her office at the court, a court spokeswoman said.

"The last I heard she was up and working, of course, because what else would she be doing, and cracking jokes," her nephew Daniel Stiepleman said at the premiere of the film "On the Basis of Sex," about a gender-based discrimination case Ginsburg tried as a young lawyer in 1972.

"I can't promise they were good jokes but they were jokes," said Stiepleman, who wrote the script for the film with input from the justice herself.

Broken ribs are the worst. Hurts to breathe, cough, twist, and there really is nothing you can do to alleviate the pain. Bummer.
