Photo of a woman cleaning windows is shared by UK police with a sinister warning

Also from the article:

Maybe this seems ridiculous to FOXNews because we don't really have a big slavery problem anymore in this country, but partly because of the UK's immigration laws, they have a much bigger problem. My husband is from London and his nanny growing up had originally been brought into the country essentially as the slave of an eastern european oligarch.

We do have a big problem in the US, it is just well hidden.

The 2017 Global Estimates of Modern Slavery report released Tuesday found modern slavery in every region of the world. The report didn't specify how many of those victims were in the United States during 2016, but a Walk Free Foundation index estimated that number to be about 57,700.

I don't know what the point of the OP is. Is it that in Europe there is a problem with domestic slavery? Or is it that the police in Europe are too intrusive? Or is it that Europeans are over-protective of women?

I don't get it.

If the person is never ever alone...and not a wife or the person's child and is always inside, always cleaning....yes, that might be a sign of something. I know of 2 bars that were busted in Houston. The woman was given life in prison. She had paid for coyotes to bring her young girls....some as young as 13 and 14...and forced them to work in the bar, prostituted them and then took the money they were being paid to supposedly pay her back for the coyote...at night she had rooms that she chained them into...rooms with no windows and only a mattress on the floor. So, that is reality.

You don’t want your country to be like one which makes efforts to combat modern slavery? Do you imagine it isn’t an issue in the US? Or do you simply not care because getting your petty little nationalist dig in is so much more important?

Washing windows is modern slavery?

Some window washers are so dense that they need a good solid lefty to point it out to them?

The USA has a modern slavery problem, much of it due to complacency. Europe has less of a problem because we're more aware.

Someone took out a box of crayons and colored a map? And put up some random numbers. And so we have a slave problem?

No. Was the article too difficult for you to understand or did you just not bother to read it?

I read it. I think it's crap.

Across the U.K., members of the public are being warned to be vigilant if they spot someone carrying out household jobs - because the real reason could be much more sinister.

And be especially wary of vans dropping off house cleaners to work? I see a couple each week in my neighborhood alone. Same applies to lawn mowers. Should I worry about them too?

No, some people are kept as literal involuntary servants by human traffickers. Jesus Christ why would you defend human trafficking!?

You and American both went "UK = LIBERAL = BAD" and didn't stop to realize this isn't a political message at all. It's literally "here's a type of crime to watch out for."

Goddamn, talk about kneejerk reactions.

I’d be interest to know the north/split. Hell even by country. For all we know all the modern slavery is in Canada.

It also brings in to question their methods. Because if I knew of 400,000 slaves in the US, writing an article wouldn’t be my goal.

I don't defend human traffickers. I just don't think window washing is a sure sign.

Next time I see a person washing a window or a Molly Maid van stopping in my street, I'll be sure and call the authorities. They will be able to:

"This could be an indicator of domestic servitude. Many victims won’t know they’re being exploited and need you to be a voice for them."

Let us and the victim know who is being exploited and let us know we should be a voice.

The window washing is not the sign

The person window washing, who is never seen outside the house, never interacting with neighbors going to the store, while other people in the household do, especially other adult women.

So in other words, signs that make it look like that the person washing the windows is not free to leave the house, because the other residents are preventing them from leaving. The person might have agoraphobia, or they might be kept as a slave unable to leave the house because of it

I will say at least the British are not calling the police for people BBQ's or people not going to a pool

Read the article. It's not "washing windows = human trafficking." There's more to it than that.

I have 2 kids and a beautiful wife.

My mother is too weak to help baby sit, father passed away 10 years ago, most of my family is OLD or has passed. My wife is a Green card holder, meaning her family lives in another country.

We have NO baby sitters (unless paid for) I am stuck in my house against my will. I cook, clean, take the kids to school and pick up everyday. I watch them as I feed them and spend all that time cleaning the floors picking up after them. Not to mention I have a full time job.

My wife works part time and between that she is shopping for groceries to cook every evening with me. As well as laundry and cleaning as well.

These KIDS are putting my wife and I in domestic servitude.......

ARE YOU FEARING KIDDING ME...... This is NOT a Snowflake, this is an Avalanche.......GTFO of here LOL!

The link seems to indicate they have a problem with human trafficking; a modern form of slavery. IIRC, the way it usually works is that people, usually women, are imported on a visa for a price. Their passports are collected and they are told to work off their debt, which is very difficult given the wages they are hired out to work for. With an expired visa, they now become illegals and are threatened with deportation if they don't comply.

Consider the conditions these woman are escaping if human slavery as a house cleaner is the preferable option to being deported back home.

If it’s better than back home then maybe they are improving their life by cleaning a house, it could possibly be a choice they made to stay. What gives someone else the right to decide what is best for someone else?

Or self responsibility places. Hardships on ones self. I chose to have 2 kids and chose to have a house with multiple windows. It wont clean itself.....

You are saying that it's okay to enslave someone as long as they are better off than when they were free. Sorry, but I disagree. If the person is being held against their will, it's illegal.

You should have had an abortion, then you'd have been free.

It seems like you didn't understand the article if this is what you took from it.

Yet again:

Washing windows is not the sign they want you to watch out for.
