Attorney General Jeff Sessions Submitted His Resignation To Trump

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

I don't think Mueller should be shut down. But it's time to finish up his report and to move on...unless, of course, what you want is seemingly endless investigations.

Based on what? How can you possibly know that it's time for him to finish his report and move on?

We need to follow the rule of law. Mueller needs to stay within his mandate. By all indications he's done just that. This is a Republican investigation managed by Republicans. There are zero indications that Mueller has exceeded his mandate or is conducting an investigation that's not by the book. Any suggestion that Mueller should expand or end his investigation to meet external political desires is unacceptable.

I personally like Sessions. Thought he was an OK pick as AG. However, his decision to recuse himself was a bad one. He should have discussed this possibility with the president before hand. Would anyone hire a person to a job and then keep them when you find out he can't show up to work and do that job every day in all phases of the job. NO! Two year of this is too long and only political pressure from the dems and Mueller prob have kept Sessions in office this long. If the Mueller probe had ended 6-8 months ago then maybe Sessions would have survived, but time was not his friend.

I think it should be obvious by now that Trump is slowly but surely replacing all of the "old guard" with sycophants who put his interest over that of the country. The two most recent being Cavanaugh and Whitaker.

It's only a matter of time before he has a completely impenetrable firewall, and will be able to do whatever he wants without consequences.

And someone who can act with impunity...well we all know what that is.

I can see that you have already come to a conclusion and rendered a judgment. I'll wait on the Mueller report.
It doesn't take a stretch to come to some very basic conclusions using publicly available information and reading between the lines.

It is astounding that some still sell the "let's not rush to judgment" narrative amidst the already existing and growing amounts of extremely strong evidence to the contrary. Trump's own lawyer contradicted Trump's claim that he had no knowledge of the Trump Tower meeting with a Russian operative. In fact, Trump himself -- who originally said "nobody met with Russians" -- which then turned into "yes, they met with Russians but only about adoption -- and then admitted "I wrote the letter myself" which then turned into "they met with Russians about *opposition research* which everybody does" and then, "collusion isn't a crime." No, that is admitting that his son conspired with a foreign government to illegally affect an election and he knew about it -- which means he lied about it previously too.

Then there are these suspicious events: What American President has sought to establish back channels to the Russians that only use the Russians' own secure communications, and cannot be heard by American intelligence? What American president has a secret two-hour meeting with the dictator of Russia, who he's suspected of conspiring with, and won't disclose what was discussed?

What American President asserts that he has the absolute right to pardon himself while also asserting that the did nothing wrong?

If your standards are: "collusion hasn't yet been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt in a courtroom," you can't also be saying "Mueller needs to hurry up and shut down his investigation." If you actually care about the country, you would ask: "What did the President and his family actually DO?"

If your standards are: "We care about our country and its independence from *any* foreign power," you ought to be profoundly concerned and want the most comprehensive investigation possible.

When I watch Trump threaten the now Democratic held House that if they continue an investigation on him, he'll retaliate and investigate them, I (and you) should conclude that this isn't an innocent man looking to unearth the truth. This is a man neck deep in the most extensive presidential conspiracy the nation has ever faced trying to coverup and hide his crimes.

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

I believe my admission and conceding, instead of a wall of text BS file dump and diversion, demonstrates so.
Fair enough but I launched my post before the rest of my comment. You do realizes 15 is less than 25% 0f 32 right?

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

he is divested from his businesses and has turned it over to his kids

NO. he has not divested himself of his business. tRump realizes the income from his business entities

despite ostensibly turning over the reins of day to day management to his kids, tRump maintains positive control over the businesses and their activities. which is why it can not be factually said that he has divested

Broken promises:

1. President Trump will not have any management authority or involvement with the Trump Organization.
2. Ivanka Trump will not have any management authority or involvement with the Trump Organization.
3. The Trump Organization will not reference the presidency, including on social media.
4. President Trump’s sons won’t discuss business with their father while they run the Trump Organization.
5. No new foreign deals.

Corrupt-Swampy-In-Charge

An investigation by USA Today last summer found that in the 12 months after he clinched the GOP presidential nomination in 2016, "70% of buyers of Trump properties were limited liability companies – corporate entities that allow people to purchase property without revealing all of the owners' names. That compares with about 4% of buyers in the two years before." Overall in 2017, the paper reported, Trump's companies "sold more than $35 million in real estate ... mostly to secretive shell companies that obscure buyers' identities." Mysterious investors suddenly pouring tens of millions of dollars into Trump coffers once he became the Republican nominee and then the president? Nothing suspicious here: Please move along.

...

Forbes' Dan Alexander and Matt Drange estimated last month that Trump rakes in at least $175 million annually from commercial tenants like the state-owned Industrial & Commercial Bank of China. Which companies specifically and how much money exactly? It's impossible to say because federal disclosure laws don't require an accounting of where his businesses get their money. This was not a problem with previous presidents, who divested themselves and disclosed. Trump on the other hand does nothing more than the minimum legally required. Not knowing who's paying the president how much money? That seems like it might be a problem. "Take any hot-button issue of the past year, and there's a good chance Trump's tenants lobbied the federal government on it, either in support of or in opposition to the administration's position," Forbes noted, adding that at least three dozen known Trump tenants have "meaningful relationships with the federal government, from contractors to lobbying firms to regulatory targets." In one case, even the federal government is paying rent to the president.

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

I didn't say that I thought Sessions was a bad AG, just that he wasn't a good fit. I think Sessions made the decision to recuse himself out of an overabundance of caution, trying to avoid the inevitable accusations had he not. But in doing so, he hamstrung himself.

Yeah.. not sure how making sure that you follow the law, and recuse yourself from potential conflicts of interest should be a bad thing.

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

If he shuts down the investigation, that's obstruction of justice.

but then who is left to prosecute it?

I think he just wasn't a good fit. His immediately recusing himself was a bad first step.

Damn right he wasn't. In '86 Sessions nomination for a District Court judgeship was rejected by the Senate because of evidence presented that he made several racist remarks and comments. That should have been the first red flag. (no pun intended)Not that Trump would care about any of that. Plus Trump and his campaign people were aware of Sessions contacts with Russians in the course of the campaign and should've expected that would be problematic if they were not properly disclosed in the course of his nomination for Attorney General.

Now that midterms are over and Mueller, as expected, respected and conformed to the DOJ's traditional protocol not to weigh in on ongoing investigations near an election. I think you can look for things to start heating up fairly quickly. The word is that while Mueller was quiet his team was very busy in the courtrooms and the grand juries all throughout this 'quiet' period and are probably ready to move on a number of fronts.

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

Funny how Comely was the Right's darling, until he wasn't.. Funny how Sessions was the Right's darling, until he wasn't.

The hold Trump has over his supporters is cult like, and might become dangerous. If things get ugly with the Dem controlled House I can see Trump calling for violence. And like with any cult leader that calls for violence, the members will obey.

Psychology Today has this list of 50 attributes of a cult leader authored by a former FBI profiler. It tells people that if they see these characteristics in people, stay away. Trump has about 40 of the 50 attributes of a cult leader, which would make is followers, cultists.

"...Here are the typical traits of the pathological cult leader (from Dangerous Personalities) you should watch for and which shout caution, get away, run, or avoid if possible:..."

If you're asking if I think Republicans will hold him accountable, I'd guess probably not.

Yeah McCabe is under grand jury right now. And the word is the new acting AG will likely be bring other Obama cohorts to grand juries also. If I was a known classified document leaker or a know unmasker of innocent American citizens or an ex CIA chief that abused or had classified government e mails on my home server I wouldn't be sleeping well now.

Bring it on and let's see who has the most S**t to hide.

When Trump declassifies DOJ and FBI documents in the next couple of weeks you eyes may pop too.

Is that what Ken Starr did? Ran a limited scope inquiry into a land deal in Arkansas?

Nope and still all he could come up with was a blow job in the oval office.

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

Is this Surprising with ANY upper echelon type person?

Obama was CLEAN as a whistle... (In comparison to Trump)

HRC was JUST as Dirty as Trump it was a lesser of 2 evils, Would it be hard to believe that HRC would likely be facing the same attacks from the Repubs? If she was president?

THEY ALL SUCK and LIKELY ALL HAVE Skeletons in their closet. PERIOD. I have accepted that. I have made mistakes and even though I THINK I am a good person if I ran for some kinda political office I would be scrutinized like hell too....

I just want to focus not on the SCUMBAG nature. BUT the greater good for the nation, I WANT you To be happy not because Trump got impeached, JUST every day LIFE for YOU....I want you to have a health care policy that works for YOU... I want taxes that are fair for all and takes care of those that needed through public services.

I want those that live on the borders to feel protected and safe EVEN though I DONT live on the bordering state I WANT THEM MY American people safe.

Im so tired of seen laws suits, accusations..... criminal this impeach that..... JUST work on making the American People Happy....... But alas just a pipe dream I guess.

How many times was HRC investigated by a Republican congress and they found......what???

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

Again I get it...you guys hate him.... I dont need to here more HATE about him.

I just want you guys to give it to me straight about WHY I voted for him. On policies and what he said he would do for this country.

LET ME Be clear again....IS it NOT surprising that ALL these politicians got issues.

HRC running has LOTS of her OWN issues in her own right and we ONLY had these 2 to choose from? I could NOT say...."Nah I just dont want ANY president for the next 4 years" So I went on political agenda.

HRC did NOT fit that. Trump did.

Is TRUMPS policies so BAD that my vote was wrong can you convince me that my VOTE was in error and I should have voted for HRC.

HRC's Husband had a BJ in the Oval office and lied on national TV to the American Public.

Trump and his Family got rich for whatever possible reasons...... OK they ALL SUCK... THEY DO.

So if we cant vote on their Morals. lets vote on their political Agenda.....

So you're ok with the racism, mysogyny, the lying and the wanna be dictator?? Don't think morals mean much since 45 is on tape as grabbing them by the "p*ssy. So really?? You want to talk about morals?? Political agenda?? Pollute?? Dismantle healthcare?? Build a wall?? Give the rich a huge tax break?? Take that out of Social Security and Medicare that we have paid into all our working lives?? Yeah great political agenda too.

Re: Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns from Trump White House

...all except the date...YES, I agree.

Now Trump needs to put someone in there with some balls.
Male or female, they need to have the ability to actually step on some toes that need stepping on.

but...in all actuality, nothing they will ever do will have any effect on my life in the slightest.
It is more like watching a soap opera at this point.
A S...L...O...W...L...Y drawn out soap opera.

Then you're perfectly healthy?? No Pre-existing conditions?? Willing to have your SS cut?? You want to work longer for less wages?? Then you're perfect. Or you're rich and don't give a sh*t.
