This is cotton pickin great news. It's time to finally end the abuse of the 14th Amendment by mainly third worlders who come here to drop babies on our sovereign soil which ends up putting a major burden on our natural born Citizen taxpayers and overall economy. The 14th Amendment was never meant for babies of foreign nationals born on our soil to become citizens. This will be an epic step in stopping the browning of America. I see our newly appointed Constitution originalist Supreme Court Justices, Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, siding with our magnificent leader on this when it gets to the docket. This will be a win for President Trump and America, and the future for the people this country was specifically created for by the founders. I agree with what he is saying but I don't think has the authority to end it. This will most likely need to be heard by our scotus

The US is the only country in which US citizenship can be granted. So he is correct. But for clarity there are a lot of countries that have birth right citizenship

I question the constitutionalaity of this and I also question the use of executive orders considering the flack Obama got for it from Trump and others, but I do agree with changing the birthright laws. If neither parent is a citizen then the baby should also not be a citizen in my opinion. If one parent is a citizen then I’d support the child’s citizenship.

Yeah, if they allow amendments to be ignored due to executive order, that's horrible precedent, and would tip the balance of power almost past the point of no return.

The father of the 14th Amendment, Rep. John Bingham, defined natural born Citizen as this:

Then in 1866, Bingham also stated on the House floor:

“Every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.” (Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866))

No other Representative ever took issue with these words on the floor of the House. If you read the Congressional Globe to study these debates, you will see that many of the underlying issues were hotly contested. However, Bingham’s definition of “natural born citizen” (born of citizen parents in the US) was never challenged on the floor of the House.

They have no jurisdiction to change anything regarding their automatic citizenship as a US Citizen if the 14th clearly has made them citizens as it has done with very clear and precise language which has been in effect for over a century and a half.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

Yes, those citizens are under the jurisdiction of the USA and states. But neither can change the citizenship the 14th grants them clearly.

I didn't realize that a president has the authority to overrule the U.S. Constitution. This is amazing, because the same people applauding this action would have been appalled if President Obama unilaterally nullified a constitutional right.

What I was taught in grade school is that the only way to change the constitution was through the amendment process. Silly grade school teachers.

So, what other constitutional rights will be put on the chopping block? Oh, I know. Freedom of the Press.

In United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898), the United States Supreme Court ruled 6–2 that a child born in the United States, of parents of Chinese nationality who at the time had a permanent domicile and residence in the United States and were carrying on business there but not as employees of the Chinese government, automatically became a U.S. citizen

If the amendment stopped at "born and naturalized in the United States" that would be a fair. But it it doesnt. It adds the additional standard.

Because that would contradict and negate the grant of citizenship the 14th clearly bestows. Yes, they are under the jurisdiction of the USA and states. But that does NOT mean the grant of citizenship can be negated since the Constitution clearly has granted it.
