The police in Pittsburgh reported “multiple casualties” after responding to a report of an active shooter at a synagogue Saturday morning, a police commander said.

Chris Togneri, a spokesman for the Pittsburgh police department, said that three officers had been shot and that the suspect was in custody.

The commander, Jason Lando, told CNN that “right now we have multiple casualties, we’re working the situation.” It was not immediately clear how many other people had been shot.

Erika Strassburger, the city councilwoman for the district that includes the synagogue, the Tree of Life Congregation, said it was not immediately clear how many other people had been shot.

And here we go yet again. Too early for details but the suspect surrendered. He also shot at three police officers who may have been there as security.
 
Just to make a prediction, if the shooter is a muslim, conservatives will label it terrorism and demand the persecution of muslims because they just can't be trusted. If it's another right wing asshole, they'll say he was a disturbed soul totally not representative of all conservatives and we really need to focus on "mental health".

The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as "the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives".

Until we know the motivations of the mass murderer then we can't accurately say its terrorism. Because it could be disgruntled employee, pissed off lover, wacko, drug deal gone bad(not likely since it was a Synagogue) or some other reason that doesn't have squat to do with terrorism.

Columbine and Sandyhook may have resulted in some groups becoming better protected by increasing the numbers of people in the group arming themselves against such assaults.

We don't know the motives of the mass murderer so we can't say if its terrorism or something else. But considering the fact that most mass murders involving firearms are usually committed by crazies and criminals then statistically it isn't terrorism.

I will still say the same thing until the facts come out. Terrorism has a very specific meaning.Just because a mass murder happens in a house of worship doesn't make a terrorist act. If the mass murderer left a note saying he wants Jews to do this or that and that is why he shot those people then sure I will agree with you that its terrorism. The whole point of terrorism is that you are trying to use unlawful violence or the threat of unlawful violence to coerce people into doing what you want usually for a political or religious goal. Simply killing a group of people because you hate their race or religion isn't a act of terrorism,sure its a hate crime but not terrorism. Killing people because you are ****en nuts or a suicidal social outcast loser in school doesn't make it terrorism. Killing people over a bad drug deal isn't terrorism. You are trying to make the terrorism label apply to a mass murder before you even know all the facts.

So the shooter is being charged with a hate crime and 28 other crimes. He was armed with an AR15 and 3 pistols. His social media page had a picture of some guns titled "My Glock Family"...

You can't walk away from it gun crowd; he's one of yours.

He is not one of ours. He has nothing to do with the gun crowd.Nor does he have anything to do with the conservative crowd. He is a racist nutjob.Nothing more nothing less. Trying to affiliate him with 2nd amendment crowd only shows that you are no 2nd amendment supporter.
