“Reports the writer's "cut up" remains were found in the garden of the Saudi consul's house, are "deeply disturbing", says No 10.”

Why would the Saudi’s be so sloppy? What is Turkey’s aim in keeping this story hilighted?

The Saudi official story has changed a few times now. Personal effects found in a diplomatic car. Body doubles.

Muslims killing rogue journalists and critics.

Doesn't this happen pretty much every day?

This sounds like a movie plot. Clearly all of the evidence points to MBS orchestrating the murder, but then, at the 11th hour, it turns out it was his brother setting him up to steal the throne! Queue the Michael Bay explosions for the finale.

Yeah, this story just gets weirder. If true, this just seems really, really dumb.

If they can prove it's our guys remains, then there goes their last hope of probable deniability.

Unless there's more we don't know, SA should just shrug and say "Yeah we killed him, what're you gonna do about it!?"

Savagery. I suppose it's a good reminder we aren't as far out of the cave as we'd like to think.

Claiming that he was a 'rogue journalist' is a transparent lie.

Rogue in Muslim-ruled countries' eyes. That's what I meant.

This is every day over there.

Saudi Arabia just lifted the ban on women driving three months ago. The cave is in that entire region.

Still waiting for the audio and video tapes ... besides, didn't the Turks claim he was parceled into suitcases and shipped off with the 15 bad guys that came ?!?

Interesting analysis

Right now, Erdogan simply didn't need to reveal his full hand, because the three most important people listening today will have heard the message loud and clear.
King Salman, Trump and the Crown Prince will know exactly what Erdogan intends to do next: drip incriminating information until he gets what he wants -- the trial of 18 senior Saudis on his turf, bin Salman brought to heel and who knows what else from President Trump.

How would Khashoggi's remains wind up in a consul's house? How bizarre. You would think the assassins would get rid of all evidence and bury it where no one would think to look.
The apparent carrying out of this assassination in plain sight, captured on many cameras and the amateur body double stunt just screams Keystone Cops.

I don't trust Turkey one bit and think they are controlling the (changing) story with their slow burn.

Where's that recording, btw?

I’m wondering if there are negotiations going in which the Saudis may give up certain concessions in exchange for the audio not being released.

But usually it's not the American POTUS who is acting as a PR man for the Muslim killers.

The times they are a changin'

You expect Trump to conduct the investigation from half way around the world?

Are you surprised? I expect no less from that culture and that region. How are James Foley and Daniel Pearl doing?

Erdogan has MBS in a hard place and wants significant concessions.

I don't care that much about the journalist's death. Even if dual-American citizenship.

Sometimes the US 'gets into bed' with some pretty shady countries/characters to achieve certain goals.
Stalin and WWII comes to mind. I guess America's relationship with Communist Russia wasn't as bad as KSA's.
And I guess the goals with KSA weren't as important as WWII, either.

What about Iran and the nuclear deal orchestrated by the US? Was Iran Lilly-white?

The irony. Erdogan shaming KSA.

Not only that, Turkey kinda hates KSA, too.

I forgot in which country’s consulate were those journalists tortured and dismembered?

A head of state who locks up journalists attacks another head of state who locks up and kills journalists while the biggest head of state who detests journalists looks on.

Because this Crown Prince is incompetent, and needs to be tossed overboard.

Power play going back Centuries when the Ottoman Empire was the center of Muslim power. Erdogan has been expanding in areas for influence that are in opposition to Saudi

IMO, Erdogan wants free reign on the Kurdish question.........

How much of this is politically motivated? How much truth of the incident do we know?

So you expect no less from the leader, the Crown Prince and heir apparent, of one of our "allies" than that he orders the targeted assassination of a U.S. resident and U.S. based journalist, lies to our face about it for two weeks, then insults us with a story only a moron would believe, and we should continue to supply this "ally" with $100s of billions in military hardware?

You've kind of put that bar into the dirt haven't you? I'm pretty sure our response to James Foley and Daniel Pearl was to drone or otherwise kill everyone responsible. Now the correct response is a shoulder shrug?
