The Latest: Trump: I do find Saudi explanation credible

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — The Latest on the disappearance of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who vanished after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul earlier this month (all times local):

4:15 a.m.

Asked whether he thought Saudi Arabia’s explanation for the death of Jamal Khashoggi was credible, President Trump said “I do. I do.”

But Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Trump supporter, and other lawmakers are expressing skepticism about Saudi Arabia saying that the Saudi writer and critic of the royal family died during a “fistfight” in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

The Republican Graham tweeted: “To say that I am skeptical of the new Saudi narrative about Mr. Khashoggi is an understatement.”

Trump says that he’ll work with Congress on the U.S. response to Khashoggi’s death but that he’d rather not see billions of dollars in arms sales with the kingdom cancelled because that would cost American hundreds of thousands of jobs.

COMMENT:-

Finding the explanation that someone who had just had his fingers cut off died as the result of a "fist fight" credible takes an incredible amount of talent - talent that only a "stable genius" could have.

Kashoggi was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and a devout friend of Osama Bin Laden. Good riddance.

If this had been Tucker Carlson or Tomi Lahren, we'd see a different response - but since this guy worked for the Washington Post, our president believes a repressive government instead.

Republican patriots, where are you now?

Sent from Trump Plaza's basement using Putin's MacBook.

No, he wasn't.

What's the point in lying like that?
He has a picture of David Duke as his display picture.

Are you serious? Lol.

None of this is particularly surprising and you know what?

It's not even just Trump that's guilty of this, this is simply the most personal example because it's laser focused on a single individual.

China and Saudi Arabia now get very soft or even non-existent pressure or even public statements or condemnations on human rights abuses, the United States and Europe come to MBS and Xinping, cap in hand and they don't dare mention it anymore for fear of economic reprisal such as in Canadas case.

The way Trump has conducted himself on this is simply far more obvious and visceral but that doesn't make it any less disgusting.

So when it comes to medicaid, medicare, and social security they're getting ready to cut; is this thug administration going to stand up for what's right? Or are they going to give another handout to the wealthy as they did here?

A vote for a Republican is a vote against your interests.

Apparently the CIA has heard the audio of the Saudis sawing his fingers off. He must have been really beating down on those fifteen men and a bone saw for them to do that to him. I can't believe the CIA hasn't briefed the President

A generation of GOP activists incensed by Clinton lying about oral sex to the point of wanting him impeached, removed and indicted has grown up....into a generation of middle-age GOP voters who hate (his wife) Hillary Clinton so much that they want her arrested for deleting personal emails off a server, and asked and probably helped Russia hack said server. Don't mind if Trump helps cover up a US journalist being dismembered by a bone saw. Don't mind that Heather Heyer was killed by Nazis marching in the street, and they don't mind that the President of the United States hasn't released his tax returns, slept with a pornstar, or used campaign money to pay off that porn star.

All while going on TV talking about values, morals, and being tough on crime and hypocrites. :lamo

You forget, our intelligence agencies are not to be believed, the Prince said he didn't do it. That's good enough for the great pumpkin...

I'm glad the word "fistfight" is in quotes. It denotes that as the word Graham used...not any word that the Saudis used. In fact, there have been all kinds of words used, depending on the desired spin from the person using the word. I've even seen it reported that someone put the guy into a choke hold after he started fighting and that's how he died. shrug... Could be.

Now, your comment...about his fingers having been cut off...well, I wonder where you got that fact from. Hmmm?

Trump usually sides with the despot in any controversy.

You don't believe it?
What if they blamed it on a video?

It was a spontaneous interrogation that got a wee bit out of hand. The alleged fistfight quickly escalated to decapitation and dismemberment. What difference, at this point, does it make?

Well we can count on republicans holding hearings on this for years right?

Apparently?

That depends entirely on whether the source was a leaker or a whistle blower.

Perhaps not - it may soon be the demorats turn to hold hearings on things for a while.

I predict once Trump leaves office he will be making some very profitable deals with the Saudis.
