Jamal Khashoggi is dead, Saudi Arabian state television confirms

Re: NoRe: Jamal Khashoggi is dead, Saudi Arabian state television confirms

Erdogan had a US citizen imprisoned for 2 years under false charges. Do you ever post on that topic? There are so many heinous things that go on in the world in general and the Middle East in particular that this incident would pass unnoticed were it not for the lefts desire to smear Trump with it somehow.

The guy was a pastor that was apparently involved in things he shouldn't be. My question to you is why are pastors in Muslim countries trying to recruit more fake Christians? Prostelyzing is FORBIDDEN in those countries....that pastor left his own country...he knew he could be imprisoned for breaking the law...and he was. So you tell me, was the pastor tortured to death in a consulate? No, he wasn't. Was he an asylee or did he leave the US on his own free will? The US citizen knew the risk he took could mean imprisonment...

That is nothing but a mindless smear on your part.

By all means give us pieces of his writing for the WaPo....show us where he has said anything extremist in 2017...and provide a link to the actual article..not something from Daily Stormer.

This response is so moronic and hackish that aside from simply pointing that out, there is nothing more to say about it.

Cuz...words are hard?

You are more than welcome to make an actual argument that doesn't revolve around excusing Trump for demonstrating yet again how he is utterly out of his depth. My guess is that FOX News hasn't helped you to that point of avoidance argument yet.

Nope and I bet they are getting in line to flip and testify against the Prince...

In Saudi Arabia? They wouldn't testify against the Crown Prince even if it meant they will lose their head....because you cannot talk negatively against anyone in the Royal Family, especially the Crown Prince.

Brunson lived there for 25 years. Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about.

Since Fletch talks about how extremist Khashoggi is...lets look at his writings...so that Fletch you learn you should actually INVESTIGATE before you start talking out of your orafice.

There is only one country in the Arab world that has been classified as “free.” That nation is Tunisia. Jordan, Morocco and Kuwait come second, with a classification of “partly free.” The rest of the countries in the Arab world are classified as “not free.”

As a result, Arabs living in these countries are either uninformed or misinformed. They are unable to adequately address, much less publicly discuss, matters that affect the region and their day-to-day lives. A state-run narrative dominates the public psyche, and while many do not believe it, a large majority of the population falls victim to this false narrative. Sadly, this situation is unlikely to change.

My dear friend, the prominent Saudi writer Saleh al-Shehi, wrote one of the most famous columns ever published in the Saudi press. He unfortunately is now serving an unwarranted five-year prison sentence for supposed comments contrary to the Saudi establishment. The Egyptian government’s seizure of the entire print run of a newspaper, al-Masry al Youm, did not enrage or provoke a reaction from colleagues. These actions no longer carry the consequence of a backlash from the international community. Instead, these actions may trigger condemnation quickly followed by silence.

Oh the horror, he wanted a society where Freedom of Speech is a right....so awful that he shoudl be labeled a terrorist right?

The history of U.S./Saudi relations relies greatly on an understanding that America is supposed to remain stupid to the Middle East's reality. This suited our purposes just fine during the temporary (and shallow) Cold War era when Shi'a and Arab dictators provided "peace," despite creating militant extremism underneath them. But we have entered an era where such behavior leaves us unmistakably imperialistic and very stupid because we still choose to be on the wrong side of history in an era where this will no longer suffice. In place of actual intelligence and proper assessment, we have chosen to cling to broken ideology, voter ignorance, and whimsical ideas of political nowism.

Saudi Arabia, despite Trump, Obama, Bush, and the rest's shallow declarations, is our ideological and realpolitik enemy in the MENA.

That's because I am well above your station and my words confuse you. You see, I'm an actual stable genius. Trump doesn't even come to the meetings.

No, I responded to your post using the the only words necessary.

You responded in exactly the way in which FOX News personalities like Hannity have instructed you to do.

Good boy.

Clara, I didnt once speak of Khashoggi being an extremist or anything else. So you can stop lying about me any time now.

Really? Do have a copy of these 'instructions' passed out by Hannity or is that just you talking out of your rear end again. Look, this inst complicated. If you want to engage in a conversation, say something intelligent and I will respond. So far, you have to show for your posts is pompous, Trump hating nonsense.

He doesn't know...the only thing he knows is he is Muslim, so he must be a bad terrorist that needs murdered. Ridiculous...I doubt he has read a single thing this man has written

I honestly have no idea what he thinks, because his argument (and a few others on the site) seems to constantly reflect my Mom's latest text, and she is an ardent all-day FOX News viewer. Her opinions are provided; and lo-and-behold the conservatives of the site all seem to share the same "opinion" on any given topic in a single day.

His kind have little, if anything, to actually offer since they reduce themselves to being a puppet for extremist, partisan politics.

...say something intelligent and I will respond.

Doubt it. You have had your chance.

You have no base knowledge of the Middle East, no base knowledge of Islam, no base knowledge of American foreign policy, no base knowledge of the Cold War, and, despite your immediate concern to defend Donald Trump at all costs, you have clearly not even bothered to read his 2017 National Security Strategy in order to asses what is currently going on.

Would you like a link to his 2017 National Security Strategy and perhaps an assessment from me, a person who actually has more than a base understanding of these issues?

He engaged in illegal activity...it doesn't matter how long he was there. I lived in Honduras for 2 decades...I am a US citizen...guess what I was required to obey the laws on Honduras...when you leave the US, the constitution doesn't follow you...you follow the laws there or you don't go.

Illegal activity??? Look at you defending the authoritarians in Turkey. So I guess you dont mind that the Saudis killed Khashoggi for engaging in activities they didnt like. Way to think things through lol

Um, yes, you did...you complained about his writings in 2017 being extremist Whabbism....I want you to show me what writings were extremist...as I pointed out to you...the guy promoted freedom of speech in the Arab world...imagine the horrors...free speech....you guys are looking for anything you can find to justify this so you don't have to look at the reality of who you are doing business with...the same way you ignore us arming death squads in Honduras, thus creating the crisis we have now with caravans of people running for thier lives.

You'd think from the look of things in international media that the world woke up one day and realized that Saudi Arabia is a dark dictatorship.

As tragic as the story of the 102894254245th victim of that regime is, it's a non-story blown completely out of proportions if there ever was one.
There's no reason for any group or person to change their opinion on SA because of this, their image before the incident is exactly the same as the one after.

You are confusing me with someone else.

Simply amazing how many people are repeating this mistake here.
Disinformation is quite a powerful thing.

He was a legal US resident and was an AMERICAN journalist..unless WaPo is owned by a foreign country that I don't know about...as a legal US resident he has all of the rights and protections a US citizen does, EXCEPT voting....he could even serve in the US Armed Forces...if a Marine who is a legal resident is killed...do you say oh well, he wasn't a citizen?

As for the 2001 hijackers, public reports claim 15 of 19 had Saudi birth. I had a great bit of trepidation over Congress' approving GW's ridiculous Coalition of the Willing. The day after the September 11th attack, members of Saudi Royalty stuck in the United States enjoyed flight privileges in spite of the "No Fly" moratorium. The Bush Clan had extensive financial dealings with the Saudi's through the Carlyle Group. Cheney had extensive investments with defense contractors. The decision to attack Iraq directly benefited Bush and Cheney.

Not long after the Iranian people ousted American-puppet Shah Pahlavi in 1979, Iraq, already led by thug Saddam Hussein, attacked Iran. The United States backed Iraq. In 1990, when Saddam made an "oil grab" by annexing Kuwait, at least Daddy Bush had the decency to enlist support from the United Nations before sending our troops to Iraq.

Though never at risk of the Vietnam draft because I turned 18 in 1974 and the U.S. Military stopped drafting during 1972, I received a lottery number. If drafted, I absolutely would have rigorously avoided conscription. I have an older brother who graduated high school in 1967, who fought the draft and who told me, point blank "little brother, if I have to go, I expect to come back in a body bag." I have had discussions with you before. I respect your military service, your military knowledge and your knowledge-based opinions.

I truly hope going forward my unreasonable optimism trumps your reasonable cynicism. All the Best to you and those you Love!

Thank you for reminding us just how corrupt the Cheney/ Bush regime was.

Their corruption seems mild to what we are currently dealing with however we do need to remember that a LOT of lives were lost in the Battle to enrich halliburton and many others.
