James Roche, one of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's freshman year roommates at Yale, said Wednesday that Kavanaugh lied under oath about his drinking and about the meaning of his yearbook entries.

In an op-ed for Slate, Roche writes, "Brett Kavanaugh stood up under oath and lied about his drinking and about the meaning of words in his yearbook. He did so baldly, without hesitation or reservation."

"In his words and his behavior, Judge Kavanaugh has shown contempt for the truth, for the process, for the rule of law, and for accountability," Roche added. "His willingness to lie to avoid embarrassment throws doubt on his denials about the larger questions of sexual assault."

Roche says he believes his friend Deborah Ramirez, who has accused Kavanaugh of exposing himself to her at a college dorm party.

He told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Wednesday night that "there is zero chance that she is making up this story."

Anyone who thinks Kavanaugh didn't lie about his drinking and yearbook is either blindly partisan or extremely naive.

Not that I care, I wasn't an angel in high school but at least I can own up to what I did. My claim to fame would be being voted 'life of the party' and it is what it is.
And I don't think most people would care either...which then makes a person wonder why he lied about it. Why lie about something most people wouldn't care about...unless you were trying to cover up something else?

Okay. New thread topic.

He was clearly lying about things not worth lying about. When you blatantly lie about the little things how are we to expect the truth about big things?

And that's just it. I was more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hear his side but when I did I was not impressed. It's still kind of a grey area since we'll likely never know what exactly happened but he is not doing himself any favors to look better in all this.

So we have a friend of the person who accuses kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her coming out and giving his opinion and that is supposed to be proof that kavanaugh lied. Seems rather weak to me.

Also there is quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that Ford has played fast and loose with the truth as well as refusing to turn over evidence to the senate committee and rimeriez apparently called around to friends looking for someone to help her with her memory of the incident. Do you hold them to the same standard to determine if they are being truthful.

Sure doesn't seem that way. It looks like you are more then happy to call kavanaugh a liar based on other people, people who have a connection to the accusers no less, but will give Ford and Rameriz the bwnifit of the doubt no matter what. Wonder why that is.

Yes, I don't believe any of them at this point. It's just another circus they are using against us to make us all hate each other that much more. It's really working this time, this has people all kinds of split up.

I think what the public can see points to Kavanaugh being a dirty liar.

Kavanaugh has admitted he drank and liked beer, but claims he never blacked out. Roche doesn't and can't contradict that. Roche has no knowledge of the exposure claim other than he feels Debbie is telling the truth. Kavanaugh hardly hung out with Roche, so Roche isn't going to have too much information. There are people that contradict Roche about the amount Kavanaugh drank in college and who hung out with Kavanaugh far more than Roche did. Additionally, I find it odd that the people that come out with these claims, are all to the political left. Roche is a democrat and has admitted to getting into arguments/fights with family and friends regarding his politics. Ramirez and Ford are also to the political left.

And I am sure your extreme bias has no influence on why you think that.

Yeah, who cares about a supreme court nomination lying under oath as long as he's one of your own, eh?

Lying... about beer? Yeah I'll take a drunk if it means the 2A is secure for a couple generations.
