WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Four men linked to a white supremacist group were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the white nationalist rally that turned deadly in Charlottesville, Virginia, last year, authorities said.

Benjamin Drake Daley, 25, Michael Paul Miselis, 29, Thomas Walter Gillen, 34, and Cole Evan White, 24, were arrested in California and were to be transported to Charlottesville after making initial appearances in federal courts in California on Tuesday, U.S. Attorney Thomas Cullen said at a news conference.

They were each charged with one count of conspiracy to violate the federal riots statute and one count of violating the federal riots statute.

These racist groups are still using the removal of Confederate statues as a reason for propogating racism, under the guise of "protecting our history".

I am glad we are taking down these statues. They have no business being on our public squares. Good for the brave mayors, city councils, and citizens who continue to take these down. Robert E. Lee has as much business having a statue on our public squares as Benedict Arnold. I don't see anyone objecting to how we want to "erase our history" just because we don't have any statues of Arnold around. Not sure why Lee is any different. He killed hundreds of thousands of our troops. These statues were put up as a symbol of southern resistance to the civil rights movement. They need to come down.

Why is it good? I didn't see any specific claims of what they believe their actions were. Though, they were sure to throw in that they were supposedly white-supremacists...even though the government admits they can't charge them with a hate crime.

They’ve repeatedly been involved in conducting acts of violence at various other rallies in addition to the Charlottesville attack.

You're free to back up your claim by quoting where I defended these folks. I've asked a question. I've not assumed the government or the media are telling me the whole story, nor the truth. I guess that behavior is frowned upon these days.

The whole thing stunk of a White Supremacist rally. I believe today's actions is "good".

If they're convicted, I'll probably say it's "great".

Let's see what the jurors say, I'll abide by their verdict.

They are racist scum propagating highly dangerous and destabilizing levels of hate, fear, racism, and terrorism against large numbers of our citizens. That's good enough reason for me.

Of course, I know being a racist bigot is no *legal* reason to get arrested. But it's like with Al Capone. You may not be able to get him legally for the real reasons he needs to be gotten. So you get him on tax evasion. Good enough.

I don't know exactly what these federal riot statutes are they are using to arrest them. Sit back and relax. I am sure the details will emerge and you will find out more details soon enough. But that's not the real reason we should be glad we got such scum off the streets.

You are not fooling anyone with this "but I'm just curious" nonsense.

The Confederacy was a deeply evil regime which went to war to preserve slavery, spent a century after their defeat brutally oppressing loyal Americans, and was damn lucky the North was as lenient as it was.
