It's my understanding that Feinstein sat on the letter until Ford herself was willing to come forward. Apparently, Ford had made the decision not to come forward in August....and then shortly after someone leaked it to the press and misinformation started to spread about her and that's when she changed her mind about coming forward. And when she did, Feinstein sent her letter to the FBI. The FBI then sent a redacted copy of the letter to the WH and now Trump is sitting on it and refusing to allow the FBI to investigate the validity of Fords story.

that doesn't explain why DiFi didn't question him about an incident.
tell me what support does Ford's claims have other than what she claims?

any first hand witnesses support her? NO
any physical evidence support her-NO
any actions she took at the time this alleged incident took place support her (like reporting it) NO


so what justifies any investigation into this allegation

Of course it explains it. She was respecting the confidentiality of her constituent and it wasn't until after Ford herself decided to come forward that Feinstein turned the letter over to the FBI. After all, what good is the letter if the author isn't willing to come forward and testify? And I don't think Ford made the decision lightly.

*Yes, yearbooks, memoirs, therapists and character witnesses. Who knows, maybe they'll even find the house.
*Sexual assault and rape is the most under reported crime with 63% percent going unreported.

Ford is the only one that has requested an FBI investigation and taken a polygraph test. Her letter is a written statement to Sen. Feinstein, a member of the judiciary committee and it was turned over to the FBI who then sent it to the WH to get the presidents okay to investigate the letters allegations. But instead, he's just sitting on it.

if her claim is that, then why didn't she tell anyone for 30 years. MY BS detector is way up

you all are going to do everything possible to excuse her poorly supported, conveniently lacking in factual evidence, claims because you all don't want Kavanaugh seated. You don't care about her having to prove her claims. and the bottom line is this-if women want to be president or SEALS or whatever other tough jobs they haven't had yet, then they need to be able to meet accepted standards of proof and stop claiming any time a man does something to them, they can wait 30 years and everyone should believe them without any other evidence save their own word.

I said from the day after the hearing that I thought Kavanaugh was a liar...but I never said that about Gorsuch. So why would I say that about one of Trump's picks and not the other?

Uh....The demand to testify first was traded for the demand that these 11 Republican men will have to do the questioning...Which is what Dr Ford and the Democrats wanted all along...See how easy that was

There are thousands of people who waited 30 years or more before they spoke out about getting molested by Catholic priests. So why did it take them so long? The only difference here is the sexual molester was a drunk male Catholic HS student instead of a Catholic priest.

No, that is why the FBI refused to take any statements from the suspect, Hillary Clinton, when giving her a pass on her email crimes. Kavanaugh is ready to testify before Congress, the FBI and the American people. It is his accuser and her handlers who are avoiding giving testimony.

having been involved in the trial of a molestor after 20 years between the assault, the issues are much different. there were several witnesses that remember the boy and the priest (the priest took the boy across state lines which gave the feds jurisdiction) and their testimony clearly supported the prosecution. the witnesses so far don't support Ford whatsoever.

the boy in the case I was involved with-was able to tell the prosecutors where it happened, when it happened and described the church he (the priest went to another state to fill in for a sick priest and took the boy to be his altar boy.) had been taken to fairly accurately after 20 years. His mistakes in the layout of the church, vestry etc was explained by long time church members noting there had been renovations during the intervening time.

Are you suggesting that because in the above case, the victim held certain memories that if the victim doesn't have a vivid recollection their case is more suspect?

From the case that you describe, a priest and an alter boy, the molestation usually isn't one incident but repeated victimization. In the case you mentioned, the boy was taken across state lines, which probably took time. If so, the victim is more likely to remember the incidents and the surroundings (a church that they frequented many time.)

This is in stark contrast to the case at hand -- a party a home that the victim visited once and an incident that probably took only a few minutes.

My point is that making judgments about the validity of a victim's statement from a starkly different fact-pattern is prone to false conclusions.

I truly doubt Kavanaughs denial has anything to do with Trumps denials. I'm sure most men would deny and especially when they're a man of power. Sad but true. Also who believed Trump was innocent, think it's more they just didn't care.

If these allegations are not investigated, we are never going to know the truth without testimony, under oath. I'm surprised the Republicans are not asking for this to be investigated. I'm getting a better understanding of all of this after discussing this with an Attorney, Attorneys in my family.

I'm now just waiting to see how this is going to be handled and what is said under oath. If it does end up a he said, she said, we are never going to know the truth, that's for sure. If Kavanaugh had of admitted to this, I doubt he would have been confirmed, not sure but it isn't going that way so no need to speculate.

This really is a mess and they are going to need to make rules so this can't happen again. Can't wait until the last minute to bring up something like this against a nominee. Not sure how this could be accomplished but hopefully there's a way.
