Taiwan police nab gun rights activist on sex assault charges

Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Police in Taiwan have arrested the founder of a company that develops 3D gun designs on charges he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in Texas, authorities said Friday.

Authorities in Austin issued a warrant for Cody Wilson, 30, after the girl said he offered her $500 after sex.

Taiwan's National Immigration Agency and Criminal Investigation Bureau told CBS News, though, that Wilson's passport was no longer valid and he was in the country illegally. Officials in Taiwan said they were making arrangements to send Wilson to the United States.

COMMENT:-

This item showed up in a whole lot of other places too. My questions are

  1. "How is this case so different than any other similar one so that it rates above the fold international coverage?"; and
  2. "Is this case symptomatic of an underlying social disorder?".

1) He's the one that wants to put the 3D printer guns online, and has recently been in national news because of putting the blue prints out there to make untraceable and unregistered hand guns out of plastic.
2) He's a well known neo-nazi.
3) He fled the country.
3) When discovered, he fled the country.

A well known neo-nazi?

wrong. He not only offered the 500, but she also took the money.

Uh, what does that have to do with anything I said ?
I think Horn was referring to the crime this guy was arrested for.

Does the fact she accepted payment make sexual contact a minor any less illegal?

So far the replies have addressed the first question "How is this case so different than any other similar one so that it rates above the fold international coverage?" by saying (essentially) "Because he's a sleazebag." which does NOT set this case apart from any other case of adults having sex with children.

However, so far, no one is addressing the second question "Is this case symptomatic of an underlying social disorder?".

Why?

Does the fact she accepted payment make sexual contact a minor any less illegal?
Don't think so.

Maybe would mitigate the sentence?
