I think it is fishy how little investigating was done and evidence gathering quietly the way it should be done then the arrest and charges. This looks too much like a political chess move rather than a serious accusation and investigation of a candidate for SCOTUS. If there was any real evidence to substantiate the claim he would have and should have been charged with a crime. He should have his day in a real court instead of the usual witch hunt and media justice that has taken over our judicial system.

There are a lot of parts to this. On one hand, I completely understand why a woman wouldn’t want to press charges in an attempted rape. She would have her reputation dragged through the mud and have to relive the whole thing and in the end the majority of such cases don’t end in conviction due to a lack of evidence. It is a very difficult crime to convict on due to its very nature. So I get why she may not have reported it.

I can also understand how a woman who didn’t report her attempted rape might be pushed to the point of finally saying something once her attempted rapist is nominated to Supreme Court. Despite trying to put the memory behind her all of a sudden the man who attempted to rape her is all over the news and it looks like he will soon be in a position to make choices that affect her and rest of the country. I can easily imagine how that would push her out of silence. So the timing of her accusation isn’t an issue with me. I get it.

But I also understand how our political leadership works and thinks. Everything is a means unto their political end. Feinstein, as well as most members of Congress, see these situations as games to win, and people like Ford are just pawns to them.

But the cat is out of the bag. Ford’s accusation is already out there. There is apparently no statute of limitations for attempted felony rape in Maryland, if it turns out the incident rises to that, so Ford should file charges with the appropriate officials in Maryland.

You build your entire premise on lies. So far, we have NOTHING from her beyond vague comments that happened sometime, somewhere, not really sure when, but with allegations that surface a week before the confirmation vote. And the flip side with the other two parties allegedly involved you have denial. Beyond that you have...nothing but people speculating. The comments you cite are from someone speculating. Meanwhile, ****heads that have no knowledge of the incident and if it even happened have no problem labeling the man a rapist based solely on their political bent.

And YOU think you have some sort of moral high ground here? You are as bad as the woman you quoted.

Boy, she must be getting paid a HUGE fee for saying something that she might have to hork back up someday.
I hope that if she DOES have a fifteen year old daughter, that the daughter slaps the crap out of her.
If she has a fifteen year old SON, I hope to God she doesn't regret what she said, because she just might.

I just learned tonight after Dr. Ford's attorney letter to the Judicial Committee was read in full, that the Judicial committee has set the following rules for Monday's "hearing".

1. Dr. Ford will not be able to bring corroborating witnesses; only she will be allowed to speak for herself.

2. Dr. Ford will be forced to sit at the same table as Kavanaugh during her testimony! Can you imagine? Forced to sit two feet away from the man she alleges pinned her down, groped her, tried to tear her clothes off and covered her mouth so she couldn't scream, as Senators force her to describe every salacious detail of that horrible experience.

3. If she doesn't appear, the Senate will vote without considering her allegations.

Grassley has made it utterly impossible for Dr. Ford to comply with not only the outrageous time frame, but thwarted her ability to provide corroborating evidence, and would force her to sit next the man she says tried to rape her. He knows she won't be able to do it, but he'll just shrug for the cameras and say, "We tried; she refused to cooperate."

Again, ****ing outrageous.

Again, I only think it should disqualify him IF he did it. As to your question, I believe only the best of the best should sit on that court. Seriously, there are only 9 seats and we only have to fill one. ONE seat. Hundreds of millions of people in the US, which means there are likely hundreds, if not thousands, of people qualified. So why settle for merely “qualified”? Let’s go with someone who is qualified and didn’t attempt to rape someone. Is a person who attempted to rape someone in high school while drunk who has since lead a fine, upstanding life, irredeemable? Of course not. There are a whole host of careers I would be ok with such a person being in. Most of the careers, in fact. Just not the highest court in the land. I promise you there are qualified people who haven’t been sex offenders at ANY time in their lives.

And I’ll say this for the umpteenth time today, all of that is assuming Kavanaugh did what he is accused of. I am NOT saying I believe he did them. I have stated repeatedly I have no idea who is telling the truth. But this OP is about IF he committed the crime.

Who are you talking about? The one with glasses is Katy Tur of MSNBC; don't know who the other woman is, but I'm pretty damned sure it is not Dr. Ford.
 
The hypocrisy is astounding. If she was drunk, she deserved what she got. If he was drunk, he was just horseplaying around. "Boys will be boys" and all that rot.

Here is my thought on the whole issue: These are grave allegations, and I do not know who to believe. I would not bet my reputation or life on the truthfulness of either Kavanaugh or Ford. I will need to see the evidence that this happened, which is actually easier than most people think. Kavanaugh has apparently said that he was not at any(?) party in the Summer of 1982. In my opinion, if he is lying about that, then I believe he is lying about this encounter with Ford, and his nomination should be withdrawn and another nominee should be forwarded. And if Ford can find any witness or acquaintance from that night to corroborate details of this party, then Kavanaugh is finished because it will demonstrate that he is lying through his teeth.

A Georgetown Prep student says they were not at ANY PARTY in the summer of 1982?
Now I KNOW he's flat out lying because I grew up in that neighborhood.
The only way he was never at any parties in the summer of 1982 while attending GTP would be if he was a member of some ultra orthodox religion that forbade it.
If those were Kavanaugh's exact words verbatim ("I was not at ANY party in the summer of 1982") then he's bull****ting.

lets assume she is 100% accurate-she was at a party where underage drinking was going on and she apparently was doing the drinking and a 17 year old boy-who was stupid drunk then engaged in what would be termed (for an adult) fourth decree sexual assault with a one year SOL.

my view-so what. what relevance does this have given there is no evidence of BK engaging in anything like this as an adult

what is her purpose for raising something she knows cannot be the subject of a valid prosecution or civil suit and would have been sealed if it had actually resulted in a juvie-court action?
