Political nonprofits must now name many of their donors under federal court ruling after Supreme Cou

Right, I get it, but the fact that this is theoretically possible isn't evidence it's happening above the trivial and worth worrying about. I'm just not aware of any data on even the potential for a serious problem. I'm sure the random person gets around the limits by using gift cards, or at least I'd expect it, but in a modern campaign, a few individuals giving an extra $2k per cycle isn't going to change anything, at least not when we have mega donors making donations of $10 million or $100 million EACH.

Right. Unlikely for $10M or $100M donations (which are pretty rare). But it's absolutely happening, and very likely used to get around the individual caps. A $4000 or $10000 donation would be easy. We've sent people to jail for circumventing the individual caps by going through a third party, yet very willingly accept anonymous donations that can be used for the same purpose.

And I'm not saying we should nail Bernie Sanders to the wall, but we should look at what's happening and find ways to close that opportunity (for example, don't accept a donation unless you have a real person and address).

I'm good with those suggestions. :peace
