Doesn't seem like this will end well.

Tropical depression Florence continued its march through the Carolinas on Sunday, dumping torrential and historic amounts of rain. Floodwaters are expected to push many rivers to all-time highs and could spur life-threatening landslides as the hurricane’s remnants move into the mountains in the middle of the states and then up into southwestern Virginia.

Is this exactly how Katrina damage happened?

3:17 p.m.: An aging levee system holds, while a temporary barrier weakens

As the swollen Lumber River in Lumberton, N.C., rose ever higher in Sunday’s pouring rain, the aging levee system in Robeson County held strong, said county spokeswoman Emily Jones.

But a temporary sandbag barrier built by volunteers and National Guardsmen amid pouring rain this week had been “compromised” by the rising water levels, Jones said.

Also this chilling statement from the Fayetteville Mayor: Notify next of kin if you ignore mandatory evacuation order

The first two reported being killed were a mother and her baby when a tree fell on their house in Wilmington...husband is reported to be in the hospital...now, I can understand adults being dumb and careless enough to stay, but putting your baby in harm's way? I don't get it...how foolish can you be?

How long until Trump's blamed?

Maybe they thought a deity would save them because they pray a lot.

Yeah, and if they did, they should have known better in either case. This is the Trump administration and a make belief deity we are talking about.

One says help yourself. One says we'll save you.

Care to guess which one is which?

Weird how that's the first comment you make...

Weird you start out with the immediate Katrina comparison. Why not use Sandy?

Lmao ah, god doesn't save people, that's what you're getting at. Finally, an honest admission about the powerlessness of a make belief deity.

As well as a damning admission that the Trump administration can't help Americans even if it tries.

Oh well.

I just hope people aren't praying to imaginary friends to save them.

But, you believe in the messianic power of government? :lamo

I believe a good government can get things accomplished. I am glad you agree the Trump government is not a good government, therefore things can't get done.

I hope they aren't waiting on the government to save them.

No kidding, with Trump in charge they would really be taking a big chance. By all reports, if someone points at a squirrel, he forgets what he was just looking at.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but this makes no sense in regards to the post you replied to. Non sequitur hour where you live?

Government isn't perfect, no matter how good it is. Government is naturally inefficient.

The belief that government can be perfect is basic stupidity.

That's why people should be encouraged to help themselves.

It was in response to communist anti-Christian bigotry.
