Ah, the National Review, a conservative editorial magazine to Texas' rescue.
Yes, it was very hypocritical, especially when we consider that Texas likes to arbitrarily play secession games. Of course, its hard to secede when Texans are looking for tax payers in forty-nine other states to help them. AND while boasting a lack of state taxes? And I hear they even got help from the Mexican government too.
People do like massaging issues into a form that relieves them of that understanding of hypocrisy.
Not to mention, they seem to fail to realize if they are no longer part of the US, that means that those businesses that find it oh so hospitable to do business in Texas will be facing tariffs to sell their goods in the US (since Texas would then be a separate country). It would cost those businesses more to do business with the US from Texas, and therefore not likely to be worth actually being in Texas. Those businesses would move back to the US, pretty much breaking Texas.
