The other similar post cites HuffPo, which I believe is not MSM, hence I'm citing Washington Examiner, which I believe is. (moderator -- am I correct? )

Anyway, her coming out, noting that she is a college professor, ups the ante considerably, methinks.

We'll see what develops.

Christine Blasey Ford, now a California-based clinical psychology professor, wrote a letter in July to her congresswoman, Democrat Rep. Anna Eshoo, outlining how Kavanaugh drunkenly pinned her on her back in a Maryland bedroom during a gathering of their Georgetown Preparatory School classmates and attempted to muffle her screams for help with his hand, the Washington Post reported Sunday. Ford, however was able to disentangle herself when a peer who had been watching the encounter jumped on top of them.

“I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” Ford, 51, told the newspaper of Kavanaugh. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.”

Re: Woman accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct comes forward

From the Washington Post...

Now, Ford has decided that if her story is going to be told, she wants to be the one to tell it.

Speaking publicly for the first time, Ford said that one summer in the early 1980s, Kavanaugh and a friend — both “stumbling drunk,” Ford alleges — corralled her into a bedroom during a gathering of teenagers at a house in Montgomery County.

While his friend watched, she said, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed on her back and groped her over her clothes, grinding his body against hers and clumsily attempting to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it. When she tried to scream, she said, he put his hand over her mouth.

“I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” said Ford, now a 51-year-old research psychologist in northern California. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.”

Ford said she was able to escape when Kavanaugh’s friend and classmate at Georgetown Preparatory School, Mark Judge, jumped on top of them, sending all three tumbling. She said she ran from the room, briefly locked herself in a bathroom and then fled the house.

Just when you thought the story was fading..........

Just when you thought the story was fading..........
More likely, "perhaps when some people hoped the story had faded...."

Re: Woman accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct comes forward

Christine Ford passed a polygraph test.

The White House is standing by Kavanaugh's denial.

As with most political issues in this day and time, there are way to many questions surrounding this; I don’t think this will, if founded, will stop the confirmation. This will just expose more vitriol, if possible. The time lapse, both in the original incident and the bringing to light of the letter, brings doubt to the forefront. The request for anonymity and then when the momentum didn’t impress, the identifying of the accuser questions the motives. :twocents:

Sex crimes are not something that bothers Republicans.

And if he's confirmed then that would be two Supreme Court justices credibly accused of sexual misconduct. After the election of Trump ( and immediately following the release of the Access Hollywood tape), you can get a sense of why women are flooding the elections. It's pretty undeniable at this point that if you're not at the table, you're on the menu.

It could also reasonably result in a colorectal examination of her own political activities.

good god, can the left at lrast try to come up with a different attack plan? The last time the left tried this they got stuart smalley ejected from their own party. Too funny. Ask them to dig into Bill Clintons past and its all out defense. What seething hypocrites.

Find me a man who opposes abortion and I'll find you a woman who has been pinned down by him.

I don't believe that. But I do think that tribalism is stronger with Republicans than it is with Democrats, so the closer to the center of their tribe you go (and the absolute center would probably be the nuclear family...probably), the more of a negative reaction you would see to the perpetrator of the sex crime. This sex crime's victim, however, is waaayyyy over on the other side of their tribes, and so why they certainly don't approve of the sex crime in question, the reality of it is threatening the cohesion of their tribe.

IIRC, the Anita Hill allegations were in Justice Thomas’ recent history and of a reoccurring nature. Barring any other revelations, this is one incident when Kavanaugh was 16. Thirty-six years in the past. I have a difficult time equating the two scenarios.
I am not a fan of the judges appointment, but this just makes the opposition look even worse than the hearings last week or so.

Shame on her and her handlers if they haven’t thought this through........

The unintended (I'm sure) implication of this argument is that one's experience as a near-rape victim doesn't matter because she was only seventeen.

The White House is standing by Kavanaugh's denial.

The man whom Ford claimed jumped on the two of them claims the incident never happened.

In light of that, the WH would be remiss not to stand by Kavanaugh's denial.

According to Ford, they were the only three in the room.

Judge said, “It’s just absolutely nuts. I never saw Brett act that way,” Judge told the Weekly Standard of the Kavanaugh accusations."

It’s a bit on the thin side; Kavanaugh has been on the federal bench what, twelve years? Has he behaved since 1982? Why wasn’t this brought up in the earlier appointment/nomination? Devil’s advocate, here....

Re: Woman accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct comes forward

If Republicans are ok with rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and pedophilia what on earth makes anyone think they will care about this mans disgusting behavior? Now if a story breaks that this man respects women, or minorities or views them as equal his nomination would be in jeopardy.

I had hoped this country had learned something after the destruction of Anita Hill. That was an absolute disgrace. Joe Biden headed up that Senate hearing and he regrets it to this day, as he should. Biden has stated that he 'owes her an apology' but an apology isn't what will Anita Hill needs now, it's too late for that. Clarence Thomas should never have been confirmed, never. So too in the case of Brett Kavanaugh, it's absolutely wrong to confirm a man that is supposed to be the epitome of high morality and the conscience of every American to the highest court in the land.

Or it's well thought through and executed.

Imo, it’s little and late. And before “little” gets dissected, I, in no way condone sexual assault.

Staying out of the public eye didn’t generate the desired result, so now the other party is willing to go public. Our politics suck.......

Who among us hasn't sexually assaulted someone else when we were young ... or throughout our lives if we were rich enough ......
