I would prefer that you stick with the original statement that you made about small businesses not benefiting from the tax break they are getting for the next 5 years.
I don't believe I placed a time period on the statement, and I don't feel like digging back. I think I'll stick with the concept that most won't have the income to enjoy the break.
Worse, my experience has taught me that when government attempts to micro manage the economy with tax rate manipulations, the laws of unintended consequence invoke their own twists on what follows. Similar to when the Fed raises rates to control inflation, and the result is greater inflation.
Smoke and mirrors.
However, I'm beginning to suspect this is all moot. As I review Trump's actions, micromanaging the economy via tax manipulations is not his goal. Instead, I see him pulling a surprise attack on liberal democrat and well as republican policies of the income and business tax systems that have evolved since WWI, and slightly before. He's seeking to lay the groundwork for eliminating what we commonly call progressive taxation. I suggest he wants the US to revert toward our original forms of Federal revenue raising, through tariffs, leasing of Federal lands for mineral and otter resource income, simultaneously shifting Federal governance away from its massive controls over everyday life, including entitlements, revenue sharing, and so forth. His trade war, smoke to hide his real goals. A massive shift in the roles of Federal governance, mostly toward defense and resource management, a minimization of Federal governance roles everywhere else. Exactly what conservatives claimed they wanted. Obama was right when he said "Don't underestimate this guy." He's as shrewd as they come. Distracting those who would oppose him if they understood what he was doing, with a circus for the mob.
For anyone who thinks I'm mistaken, take note, the oil companies are already chafing at his demands for a 25% return to the Federal government for any new offshore deep water oil drilling leases in deep water. Previous administration were asking for 3-4%. Mining and timber companies who work Federal lands are seeing similar demands for new and renewed leases. He doesn't need congressional approvals for any of these moves, the provenance of the Department of Interior, entirely his to manage and execute by his orders. Fascinating. Not a peep in the media. Environmentalists should be thrilled. It means a true end to the laissez faire management of Federal controlled resources in favor of sustainability for maximum returns. Holy Batman!
If I am correct, he'll have executed the foundation for these shifts within the next 18 months, and it will be too late to reverse the course and still not understood by the opposition.
