And?

Is it or is it not a step in the right direction?

It's a step in no direction.

Like I stated, it's politicking in a world where Kim wants not to get rid of his nuclear deterrent but also wants sanctions lifted. And as I have stated enough times in other threads, the answer to North Korea's threat is to pull it into the global community (in which Kim can't have), not entertain fantasies of de-nuclearization.

Don't tell Trump that Kim got his parade. Jealous butthurt coming to Twitter soon!

On a public relations level perhaps, but if you have a knife and conceal it you still have a knife. The success of any deal with North Korea will be one that has them eliminate their nuclear arsenal and a means of confirming their compliance. The idea of North Korea moving in this direction has been put out there, but there's been no agreement on them eliminating nuclear capacity. Considering that it's nuclear capacity that got provided the leverage to meet with the US, it would seem like an odd advantage to surrender.

No ICBMs? Not much of a parade in my book then. Any fire engines?
