South Korea scrambles fighter jets after Chinese plane trespasses airspace

Aug. 29 (UPI) -- South Korea scrambled more than ten fighter jets on Wednesday after a Chinese military aircraft trespassed into the Korean Air Defense Identification Zone, or KADIZ, according to Seoul.

The incident marks the fifth Chinese military incursion into South Korea-claimed airspace in 2018, News 1 reported.

Yonhap reported the plane entered Korean airspace at around 7:37 a.m. from an area southwest of Ieodo Island, or Socotra Rock, a submerged rock in the Yellow Sea that is also claimed by China.

Seoul's joint chiefs of staff said Wednesday after the Chinese plane trespassed into the Korea Strait area of the KADIZ, it "repeatedly entered and left" Korean airspace.

COMMENT:-

You might want to compare the tone of this report (and the actual actions of the aircraft involved) with "U.S. air force says trains in vicinity of South China Sea".

Once you do, you will see that this is a perfect example of "If WE do it, then it's 'normal training operations in international airspace', but if THEY do it it's 'a violation of __[fill in the blank]__ airspace'.

"Poles attack peaceful border guard station" anyone?

I say we report them to the "this nation is being an asshole" police department... oh, wait... sigh

They are not playing tiddly winks over there. Those are real combat aircraft, armed with real ammunition and missiles. And incursions are use to test speed of reaction, radar frequencies, alternate routes of attack, among other things.

If you don't push back at China before you know it they will be stealing your aircraft.

I think China just redefines everything as their own.

My son was an air traffic controller for three years in SC, I will have to get ahold of him later and see how common this is.

"Report: U.S. flew B-52H bomber over East China Sea"

Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A U.S. B-52H bomber recently entered China's Air Defense Identification Zone in areas of the East China Sea, according to a Taiwanese press report.

The Liberty Times reported Tuesday a strategic bomber entered areas of the East China Sea where Chinese activities have been ongoing as a check against Taiwan and Japan.

Using data from Aircraft Spots, the site that tracks military air movements online, the report said two B-52H bombers left from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam on Tuesday and flew across the Bashi Channel to reach the South China Sea.

"If WE do it, then it's 'normal training operations in international airspace', but if THEY do it it's 'a violation of __[fill in the blank]__ airspace'." strikes again.

Chinese aircraft invade South Carolina airspace?

China has declared most of the Nine Dash line as their own, and have issued ADIZ requirements. The US does not recognize China's attempt to make this part of the world it's own property.

I don't think that there has been a lot of Chinese Air Force activity in the South Carolina area - at least not recently and not by the Chinese aircraft which are so stealthy that they are completely undetectable by the hardware the the US military possesses (even the stuff that is so secret that the US government doesn't talk about [or even allow politicians to have photo-ops in front of or pretending to operate]).

[NOTE - The stuff in the above paragraph AFTER the dash will be picked up on the Internet within 24 hours and the "report" that "The Chinese have aircraft which are so stealthy that they are completely undetectable by the hardware the the US military possesses (even the stuff that is so secret that the US government doesn't talk about)." will go viral. Shortly after that the Department of Defence will request an immediate funding increase in order to counter the threat posed by those aircraft.]

You do realize that ALL of the ADIZs are unilaterally declared and have absolutely no legal status whatsoever, don't you?

You do realize that, since ALL of the ADIZs are unilaterally declared and have absolutely no legal status whatsoever, what the US does or does not do is just as reality based as what the Russians do when their aircraft "violate an American ADIZ", don't you?

Once again "If WE do it, then it's 'normal training operations in international airspace', but if THEY do it it's 'a violation of __[fill in the blank]__ airspace'." strikes again.".

I think China just redefines everything as their own.

Didn't you hear? The ancient Chinese scroll maps said China owned the Moon in 400 BC. They are entitled to the Moon now.

They also detailed that China traded with the West through ancient India before the silk road with the West... that means they own India trade now.

You do realize that ALL of the ADIZs are unilaterally declared and have absolutely no legal status whatsoever, don't you?

I don't think that "legal" has ever been a concern of China.

I think China just redefines everything as their own.

I mean the gall of the Chinese to place their country so close to various US military bases

I don't think that "legal" has ever been a concern of China.

You do know that the US has established ADIZs as well, don't you?

Are you telling me that you don't think that "legal" is a concern of the US?

Or is it that "That's DIFFERENT!"?
