Paul Manofort found guilty of 8 counts of Fraud

Mistrial on 10 counts. Meaning the prosecution could try him again on those 10. Plus Manafort already has another trial aside from these that is to come soon.

A jury found Paul Manafort guilty on eight of 18 counts against him. Those eight counts carry a maximum sentence of 80 years.

The judge has not set a sentencing date yet.

Here's the breakdown of the counts:

  1. Count 1: Tax Fraud — Subscribing to false US individual income tax returns in 2010 (3 year maximum sentence)
  2. Count 2: Tax Fraud — Subscribing to false US individual income tax returns in 2011 (3 year max sentence)
  3. Count 3: Tax Fraud - Subscribing to false US individual income tax returns in 2012 (3 year maximum sentence)
  4. Count 4: Tax Fraud — Subscribing to false US individual income tax returns in 2013 (3 year maximum sentence)
  5. Count 5: Tax Fraud — Subscribing to false US individual income tax returns in 2014 (3 year maximum sentence)
  6. Count 12: Hiding Foreign Bank Accounts — Failure to File Reports of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts in 2012 (5 year maximum sentence)
  7. Count 25: Bank Fraud — $3.4 million Citizens Bank loan (30 year maximum sentence)
  8. Count 27: Bank Fraud — $1 million Bank of California loan (30 year maximum sentence)

Note: The count numbers are drawn from indictment, which is why the numbering seems off

A mistrial was declared on the remaining 10 counts: Three hiding foreign bank accounts and seven bank fraud or bank fraud conspiracy.

Just think. This wasn’t even the worst news of the day for Trump. It would appear to be highly probable with Cohen pleading guilty to counts 7 and 8 of his indictment that President Trump has become an unindicted co-conspirator. The last time a President was unindicted co-conspirator was President Nixon. And you know how that went.

America is a different country now, and Trump is not Nixon.

And there you have it.

Paul Manafort is the kinda guy our president thinks is a "good guy." Said so himself.

You can't write scandal like this. What a House of Cards!

Can't wait to see the Trumpkins try to deflect and spin this. I wonder if they will use the same blah, blah, blah or get creative?

What's to spin? What Manafort has been convicted of has nothing to do with Trump.

It's shameful and dangerous that such criminals are so close to the presidency. I don't think we can trust this administration or the judgement of our president if he surrounds himself with these kinds of people.

Trump may pardon him but the states.....New York and Virginia and Illinois will go after him. Little fat Paulie better stay in the Fed Sytem....cause the state don't give a f--k about cushy prisons

Gee, there were an awful lot of criminals in Trump's election campaign. Does anybody have a theory for what the common denominator was?

"As a legal matter, this is a complete and total defeat for Manafort. He will get the same sentence that he would have received if he was convicted on all 18 counts.

The number of counts of conviction doesn’t impact federal sentencing."

Well, if your neighbor's live in a swamp, where do you live?

Perhaps years of looking into his birth records, or U1, or Benghazi were a waste (in the case of Hillary). How much time and money were spent on those issues?

No, Benghazi wasn't a waste of time or money. Their names were Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Ty Woods, and Chris Dougherty.

And Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice are lying McLiars.

Don't you remember these are the best of the best....my momma always said you are who you hang out with....lots of laughs

I guess you didn't hear his so called "solitary" was probably just as go as most high end hotels with lots of privileges.

Protective custody (sequestration from the general facility population for safety reasons) does not necessarily imply "solitary" hard-time confinement.

Manafort was not confined to a solitary cell. He had his own bathroom and shower facility, a workroom, his personal phone for 12 hrs a day, and his personal laptop.

Trump will pardon him.

He's got another trial scheduled and can be retried for the 10 counts that are (fabricating a word here) mistrialed in this one. So if trump pardons him on these eight... Manafort still has a long perp walk to continue.

Not really. Had there been to a special counsel to scrutinize every member of the Obama team, I'm guessing the same thing would have happened.

Had there been? Had Obama been as corrupt foolish boorish narcissistic incompetent and moronic As Trump he might have blah blah blah.

But he's none of those things and does not live in a swamp.

Yours is just about the weakest argument I have ever observed on this forum

I appreciate the sincere work of the jury.

My two cents:

Penny 1: There was no call for the way Manafort was treated by Mueller (the terrifying pre-dawn raid) and holding him in solitary the way he was.

Penny 2: If there isn't a good rerun on, I may actually tune in to "Hannity" for a few minutes tonight just to see what he has to say now.

I wonder if he'll get to wear a boa skin prison jumpsuit.

I have zero sympathy. He deserves everything that is coming to him. He's lower than scum.

Hmmmm... interesting!

Oh FFS, you Trump lovers are comedy gold.

Classic :lamo:lamo

Now, if you can provide evidence, by all means go ahead. However, that does not stop the indictmetns, plea deals, and convictions that are piling in.

There are lots of names, Penny Pritzker is one, that likely would have been convicted of something like tax fraud if there were a "Mueller" trying to dig up dirt on them. Are you really this naïve?

Please do. THere is a big difference between having facts, and having diverting speculation. Show the evidence.

What's to spin? What Manafort has been convicted of has nothing to do with Trump.

You just spun it.
Trump chose Paul Manafort and Rick Gates to chair his election campaign. They were both crooks. But why stop there?

Manafort - found guilty 8 felony charges
Gates - plead guilty felony charges in a cooperation deal.
Michael Flynn - National Security Director - Plead guilty to felony charges
George Papadopolus - Campaign advisor - plead guilty to felony charges
Michael Cohen - Trumps long time personal attorney - plead guilty to 8 felony charges

And it's still ongoing nota bene. I suppose you'll have to keep spinning, until it stops. Hope you don't get too dizzy!
