Some on the Left hate jews (or Israel), so hating Nazis and jews creates a dilemma.

The United States was entering the Cold War, and under "Operation Paperclip" thousands of former scientist were wanted in the United States. We needed them to advance rocket technology for the United States. If the Soviet Union got to them first, the Soviet Union would have that technology. If we did not accept them, the landing on the moon would not have happen in 1969.

I think he was “caught” by the DOJ’s Office of Special Investigations (Nazi Hunters). ICE just issued the deportation letter in this particular case.

You can be a National Socialist and like me, a Social Democrat. And during Would War II, Germany and the Soviet Union were two different types of socialist countries.

He was tracked down in November 2003... ICE was formed on March 1st 2003.. hence the actual people who did the grunt work were from the other agencies transfered in under the newly formed ICE and have not much in common with the gestapo force of today....but of course the right will use this "victory" to praise and organisations that arrests fathers to be on the way to hospital with a wife in labour... and then leaves her alone. Or the same agency that has kidnapped and tortured children...

As for this Nazi. Guess he did not pay his dues to Trump...

Side note:I don't know why some make such a big deal about separation of kids from undocumenteds.
(1)The undocumented parents to which the kids belong aren't always apparent.
(2)By the same token, do you want, for example, any drunk-driving parents (in non-sanctuary-cities) with kids in the car to keep their kids, too?
How about any parents (in non-sanctuary-cities) who abuse their kids? You wanna keep the kids with the potentially abusive parents, too?

As of late they hate Nazis, but love immigrants, so it will be a conundrum for sure.

It is kind of like their love for Muslims and gays which are diametrically opposed.

Yeah, but what are they going to do with a prison guard? The usual assumption is likely that he loved throwing jews into the ovens, but we don't know much about this or him. I'm not trying to defend the guy, but we weren't there to see what ordinary soldiers faced if they didn't follow orders. Anyway he lied to the US government so they have a case, and he helped kill jews.

I also wonder what choice did a young man have back then? But the fact remains he evaded justice for committing horrific genocide. No doubt just the stress of uprooting him and taking away the home he's known for decades will take its toll.

They try to hide their past. He isn't the first either. A former Nazi criminal came to America and became an ordained priest in the Catholic Church. Romanian Jews outed him eventually, but he kept trying to a play a good Christian and case of mistaken identity.
