And the wait continues.
The jury in Paul Manafort's criminal trial adjourned without a verdict Monday after its third day of deliberations.
The jury asked to deliberate until 6:15 p.m. Monday evening - later than the jurors have stayed the previous two days, sparking speculation there could be a verdict coming that evening.
Judge T.S. Ellis III reconvened court at 6:15 p.m., only to tell the crowded room that he's going to excuse the jury for the evening and reconvene tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.

I smell one hold out...I suspect the 11 are guilty and 1 not guilty....

Re: Manafort Jury Finishes Thirda Day With No Verdict

But I heard the jury sat in different seats today. What could that portend?

likely nothing, but 3 days of deliberation with the jury asking to deliberate just a little longer, after a long day spells a hold out.

The jury is probably deliberating their get-away plan after they announce the not-guilty verdict.

Agree it's reasonable to suspect.

Sad to say that would be my plan if the prosecution hadn't convinced me.

Possibly. But with 18 counts, if your suspicion is true the hold-out could be on 1 count, multiple counts, or many or all counts.

I'm trying to start a poll on this, but right now my suspicion is Manafort is going to take a hit on around half the counts, to possibly a slight majority. I'm thinking something like 8-10 counts.

Of course beating a bunch, but not all of the counts, means little to the defendant. Any one count means prison.

Yep, and of course 1 of the counts being a not guilty would mean Trump will beat it into a fire...nevermind 17 others being guilty.

I sincerely hope not. If we are not a country of law, with respect for the law and it's process, we are nothing.

Nah. The judge let prosecution submit evidence but not necessarily explain it. He is hung up on the whole rocket docket thing. So, the jury is seeing most of it for the very first time in the jury room.

Re: Manafort Jury Finishes Thirda Day With No Verdict

There a multiple charges, not just one.

So, for example if the jury agreed to guilty on 6, not guilty on 7 - but could not agree on the last few (18 total?) - they are and are not deadlocked - if you see what I mean. They have to reach a verdict on each and every charge individually.

They could just be snagged up on even just 1 of the 18, but that is a deadlock. However, in that instance, they could inform the judge who informs the parties and the prosecutor COULD drop the charge(s) they are deadlocked on to still get a conviction.

Trump will beat it to hysteria, regardless of the verdict.

But you are right. One count means a lot to the defendant, but in political terms Mueller would appear stronger with multiple guilty counts.

No way will Mueller get 18 counts. It never goes that way in these things. But hopefully he gets quite a few - at least a handful.

Yes, all prosecutors throw everything including the kitchen sink and hope some sticks.

We are a country where the judge presiding over the trial of someone connected to Trump, for something that has zero to do with Trump, has U.S. Marshals protecting him because he's gotten death threats.

He was trump's campaign manager...Only the best

True, and its wrong and those who have threatened deserve jail

Agreed.

And by the jury's questions, it seems to me they are attempting to match the evidence to the counts and transcript. If so, that is very good for the prosecution. The prosecution presented quite the paper case it seems, and a diligent jury cannot escape that, regardless of witness testimony. If the jurors go by the paper evidence, I believe Manafort is going to take some serious hits here

Mueller is certainly squirming now....

Not sure of your point here, or your comment on my wish for respect for the law, but to say Trump's Campaign Manager has "zero to do with Trump" seems a bit farcical.

Re: Manafort Jury Finishes Thirda Day With No Verdict

Will some members of the jury decide that justice demands that they ignore the jury instruction that Mueller's GET TRUMP mission is not relevant?

It is starting to look that way....

What if it’s 18 not guilty, don’t you think Manofort has the best of the best lawyers, and they didn’t even call any witnesses, they believe the prosecution didn’t prove their case.
How much violence will liberals do if it’s 18 counts of not guilty?

Read for comprehension..."for something that has zero to do with Trump".

In the delusional alternate reality of TRUTH IS NOT TRUTH that Trumpkins occupy - his three month campaign manager did have zero to do with Trump.

And they believe it.
