Special counsel Robert Mueller is recommending a judge sentence one-time Donald Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos to up to six months in jail for lying to the FBI, a request that factors in his pledge to cooperate with the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 elections, according to documents filed with the court.

Prosecutors did not make a specific recommendation but said a sentence within the guideline range of up to six months imprisonment was "appropriate and warranted."

From his wife making the rounds of the talk shows recently & saying that he isn't getting a good deal, it looks like he hasn't fully cooperated with the Mueller team as he had promised to do to get a lighter sentence.

The timing of this recommendation is interesting. This may turn out to be a tumultuous weekend.

Actually, 6 months is a very light sentence, considering the fact that a false statement under 18 USC 1001 carries a maximum punishment of five to eight years. The wording of the statute is up to 5 years, with the potential for up to 8 years, depending on the circumstances.
The sentencing guidelines agreed to by both prosecution and defense call for 0 to 6 months.

He talked. And, for the record, Papadopoulis is what triggered the Russia investigation, not the Steele dossier. As a matter of fact, when the Steele dossier came out, the investigation was already in full swing.

Is the prosecutor supposed to recommend sentences?

6 months isn't that bad at all. Could have received as much as 5 years.

Is the prosecutor supposed to recommend sentences?

He can, under a plea deal. However, a judge is under no obligation to accept the deal, and can still impose the maximum. That rarely happens, though.

My guess is this has something to do with Papadopoulos's wife wanting him to scrape the plea deal.

Won't happen. He already signed it. It's a legal document.

Federal "country club" facility, like the one in Bastrop, Texas.
Looks almost like an assisted living facility.

He's not gonna be "cast down with the sodomites" like in Shawshank.

Zero days in jail is the right number.

On Rachel's show tonight they revealed that he used a special cell phone while in London & had talked with it with this mysterious Russian professor who told him about the Russians having Hillary's emails. He did not turn that phone over to the FBI until after that Professor had left the U.S.

IDK, 6 months for a Greek guy in prison. He probably won't take a shower the entire time.

I wonder if he can buy soap-on-a-rope in the commissary there.

Oh be nice, I have always been nice to you and I just know that you can manage.

Are you or are you not a hardcore Donald Trump supporter? What's not nice about pointing out that fact?
Sorry that you don't like the nickname "Bifftarian" but I got kind of tired of hammering out "Right wing authoritarian Trump supporter" all the time.

So I came up with a new name.

Pop is probably going to fight it, force discovery.

Then the wheels are gonna start falling (read: exploding ) off this whole thing. This was all a set up, Pop was played and hes beginning to realize it. Funny that the Feinsteins mole story has been very timely. If Pop and Carter Page were actually Russian spies, why didnt the FBI give Trump the same heads up courtesy?

Maybe cause neither was a spy?

Add to that the curious co-inky-dink that Aussie Diplomat Downer has some major ties to the Clintons and their all on the up and up, for sure, foundation securing a $25M donation. Too much coincidence added to too much coincidence when you add the fact that Russian Atty Velvetnetskya (sic) just happened (can you believe it?) to meet with Glenn Simpson (yes, of GPS Fusion Steele dossier paid for by the DNC/Hilkary campaign fame), out of the all the other 7 billion people she couldve been meeting with on the planet the same day as the Trump Tower Don Jr meeting (just what are the chances of that out of 365 days in that specific year?) ...

Plus the fact that Velvetnetskya had to, this is almost beyond unbelievable (because it cant really be coincidence, it had to be coordinated), have a special visa only obtained from the office of, guess who, AG Lynch...imagine that. Of course the AG feigns no knowledge...but a horse (***) is a horse of course of course...

So math folks out there, what are the chances of all those odd occurrences, coincidences, occuring in just the right alignment?

Lynch distances herself from Russian lawyer after Trump attack | TheHill

https://www.cnsnews.com/news/articl...-russian-lawyer-after-her-meeting-trump-tower

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Thursday distanced herself from the Russian lawyer that gained entry into the U.S. before landing a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. during the 2016 presidential race.

...

The U.S. attorney’s office in New York told The Hill that it let Veselnitskaya into the country on a grant of immigration parole from October 2015 to early January 2016 after her initial request for a visa had been denied.

Court records show that when Veselnitskaya sought permission to extend her stay, the U.S. attorney at the hearing told the judge that the special visa the Russian lawyer received was part of a “discretionary act that the statute allows the attorney general to do in extraordinary circumstances.”

The U.S. attorney described the grant of parole immigration as extremely rare.

Strange times... can almost smell the sweet smell of gooses being cooked.

You better not call me Right Wing after I have said so many times that I am a Lefty, a socialist specifically.

FOCUS!

Seems rather harsh for the coffee boy no one hardly knew. Cough, cough, cough. :lamo

President Reagan’s Daughter Coming Right Up on CNN.

I wasn’t about to see ANY of Deconstructor Stevie Bannon on M$NBC. Plus to immediately flip from Korrupt Kavanaugh Kommercials.

Stop, just stop. You're as "lefty" as North Korea is "democratic".

I think you read too many conspiracy novels.

Zero days in jail is the right number.

I would say then that if the government had recommended zero days in jail that Trump should start preparing his statement of resignation from office now.
