President Donald Trump's military parade is now estimated to cost approximately $92 million, a U.S. official tells ABC News.
The official stressed that this is still an estimate that could vary based off of the final decision on the scope of the parade made by Defense Secretary James Mattis. The secretary has still not signed off on the final plans.

Hey Donald, want to show America that you support the military? Instead of spending almost 100 million on a parade so you can thump your chest, how about donating it to veterans' organizations? I have been giving to Paralyzed Veterans of America for quite a few years now, but my donations are chicken feed compared to what you could do. How about it? How about really putting America first instead of just yourself? Put up or shut up.

With you on this one.... Why do we have to do the truffle shuffle... $92 mill could go a long way else where! But....... here is a big but.

generic economics. Is this money pumped back into our system meaning. Its like the Pro Bowl in Hawaii how stupid they are. $5million from Hawaii to bring the NFL to make $20 million for increase tourism and business cost influx... net $15 million, but they didnt want to pay.

So I hope $92 mill goes into the the economy rather than big businesses.?

Really good thing we lost all those deficit hawks on January 20th, 2017.

Don’t know what happened on that date but, if I ever hear anyone accuse the next democratic president of “spending like a drunken sailor” they need to be laughed out of the room.

When they post real facts instead of:

Let us know. I want to see the LISTED actual costs to determine how much is real additional costs as opposed to day to day costs (wages, transportation use, etc.) that would exist parade or not.

You want real facts? Here are two.

1. Wages do not equal transportation or TAD/TDY costs. Wages are typically static/inevitable. Travel costs are dynamic and dependent. For this parade I actually imagine they'll be calling up a lot of guard and reserve forces in the National Capital Region outside their normal AT/ADT. So we'll incur those additional costs, which are not a function of normal operations.

2. And a much more salient fact. If it involves the U.S. government, it's going to cost a lot more in execution than any planning estimate. I'm no libertarian (left or right), but they do typically know things like that.

Today, we DO have a traitor to trade. If Putin still wants him, Putin can have him. Our price? This one is free of charge.

Costs? Every dollar spent goes back into the economy, which is one of the important factors when it comes to government tax use.

Housing providers will benefit (Hotels, Motels, Holiday Inns like the song says) both from the military personnel needing billets and from all the visitors coming to see the parade from around the nation.

Restaurants and food service providers will benefit. Stores selling merchandise will benefit.

The troops benefit from the extra pay, plus a free visit to the capital they can enjoy prior to and after the parade.

Every dollar spent on transportation goes to public and private transport (airlines, buses, etc.) and service providers of all kinds.

Then there are the industrial interests that support the military complex. They make profits that pay worker wages.

I'm sure some people would like to see this money used for more social welfare handouts. Personally, I have no problem with this parade. :coffeepap:

The facts are not on your side with this one:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/17/politics/trump-donation-veterans-affairs/index.html

https://www.military.com/daily-news...ill-including-26-percent-troop-pay-raise.html

He donated his salary to the VA and signed legislation giving the troops a raise. CNN even reported on it. Seems like Trump is doing far more for the military than our previous president.

Government/military spending will benefit the economy of the wealthiest census-designated major metropolitan area in the country (which is the wealthiest census-designated major metro in the country already because of government/military spending)?

Sounds awfully libertarian.

As an aside I get to live up here, so hey-o.

Damn I totally forgot about this.... I need to fact check if he did donate his whole salary. BRB!

If you want parade than sent extra of YOUR money into your false god trump. There is wear and tear, clean up, and other costs that could better be spent elsewhere. Hypocrites like yourself say we can’t afford Obamacare but you support a **** stroke parade for your false god trump.

I imagine most the Military doesn't want to be part of this clown show either...Forced to goose step back and forth in front of this preening asshole trump

Most military members hate dog and pony shows.

Should update to read that the Pentagon has apparently postponed the May Day Parade. Waiting for link to post.

I haven't met a single servicemember, officer or enlisted, who didn't think it was a ridiculous idea. And now it's on the chopping block. I guess Mattis got through to him.

I really can't get too worked up about this. The PoS gets to wave at the troops and puff up like a big man. Sure it costs a lot of money but compared to what they've already done to the deficit, it's like an eyedropper full. It dosen't rip babies away from their mothers or any other monstrosity and that's all I care about.

Commentary: Trump's military parade isn't as unusual as you might think

https://napavalleyregister.com/opinion/editorial/commentary-trump-s-military-parade-isn-t-as-unusual-as/article_4f5cb855-83d1-5d88-aaa1-d13520a252bc.html

News that President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Defense to plan a large military parade in Washington this year has generated a new wave of concern over Trump's authoritarian instincts, especially given the huge costs of such an overt display of martial pomp.

But the president's desire for a large display of military might is not unique to Donald Trump. In fact, it is merely the culmination of the American public's decades-long, uncritical embrace of the all-volunteer force.

Good thing it has just been "postponed."

The military has parades monthly. I would be surprised if it wasn't weekly.

I think the plan is to donate his entire salaries to different causes, maybe not exclusively veterans but it appears he did make good on his promise and gave a chunk to the VA.

I believe he sent a quarter of his salary...which would be $100,000? Meanwhile charged the government millions for his stays at his own hotels. But do, give him a parade, because he so deserves it.
