And I have been all over the world including the US. US portions dwarf European portions. Example, in Hawaii I ordered a hamburger and fries.. I get a 250g+ hamburger with a plate of fries (overflowing). In Los Angeles at the various fast food places we went, we always by default got a large menu and had to ask for a medium menu.
Now I am not saying you cant get a large portion in Europe but your example is poor. Everywhere you order roast chicken, you either get a whole chicken or half a chicken. If you wanted something smaller, then you should order roast chicken breast or wings or something like that.
Lets put it this way.. I go to a restaurant here and order a steak. I get a reasonable size steak and a handful of fries. I did the same in the US, and I got almost 1/2 KG of steak and a seperate plate of fries..
And why dont you google it.. there is plenty of expert material done by nutritionists and doctors that all state that portions are too big in the US and it is a problem

Now I am not denying that portions are not increasing in Europe, because they are.. we tend to follow the Americans by several decades.. but both traditionally and still in most places our portions are no where near as big as the standard American portion.
None of the links you posted confirms that European portions are smaller than American ones. Ive been all over Europe, and the only places where you'll get very dainty portions are in cafes, tapas bars, and fine dining places. If there is a size discrepancy, then its not much, I would say an extra handful of fries and a few extra grams of meat is the difference at the most.
