Monsanto ordered to pay $289 million in world's first Roundup cancer trial

Barnacle..thinking it's cool to have chemicals you spray outside, that if you happen to have a gust of wind blow in your face, you'll get cancer.

Chemical companies that created health problems actually increase your health care cost.
In this case, he's suing roundup, that won't affect health care cost, unless he wins and they replace it with a lower/non-carcinogen, then it will reduce costs.

No idea what you're talking about. Neither the guy who repeatedly sprayed during an up-wind nor I considered that action "cool" - that definition was made by you.

My definition was: "What an idiot."

And your post is idiotic, is the point. This is why we need better education in this country.

You see, when something is legal, and used routinely by millions, and can easily cause cancer that will ****ING KILL YOU, it's a good idea to eliminate it.
Wind doesn't ask you if you just sprayed Roundup when it gusts.
If your teenager sees some weeds and grabs the roundup, they may not know the proper CDC procedure to suit up, get a ventilator, just to spray some ****ing grass. They wont' wear gloves, it's just a household grass killer, why would they.

Good christ.

Good grief, man. That guy considered himself a "professional groundskeeper" - albeit without common sense - and not a teenager, where in many cases common sense has not developed yet.
Although I bet you that if that teenager sprays against the wind, most of them will not do it next time around.

Simple: DO NOT SPRAY ROUND-UP ON A WINDY DAY.

We've been spraying Round-Up for 25 years - 50-gal container each time, twice a year - NEVER ON A WINDY DAY.
We have never "managed" to spray ourselves.

Just tripling down on the stupid I see.
Accidents are managed by reducing risk/odds. Not by proclaiming to the world that you're personally so awesome you use a 50 gal container, never on a windy day. It really is up to better people than yourself to make the world a better place isn't it? It would be bad enough if you just did your own thing...but you fight it...for shame.

Still defending that idiot, who called himself not only a professional groundskeeper but also pest control manager ... but apparently had no idea that spraying chemicals repeatedly in one's face over a prolonged period might be harmful.

By the way ... I am awesome ...

My first thought when reading your post was, "Surprise! Another conservative blaming the victim!"
My second thought was, "I hope this snowballs and spells the end of one of the most evil entities in the world, Monsanto Corporation."
Bayer too, if they can't scramble out of the line of fire.

Amen.

Just in case you were thinking that's harsh...

" ...A weed-killing chemical linked to cancer has been found in dozens of popular breakfast cereals and snack bars, including products marketed to children.

Tests found glyphosate, the active ingredient in the herbicide Roundup, in all but two of 45 oat-based foods sampled by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), an American public health organisation.

The findings come days after a landmark court case in which Roundup manufacturer Monsanto was ordered to pay $289m (£230m) to a school groundsman who claimed the weedkiller contributed to his terminal cancer. ..."
