(CNN) — An aircraft that took off without authorization and without passengers has crashed, officials at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport said Friday night.
The airport tweeted that the person at the controls of the plane was "an airline employee" but gave no further information about that person, the aircraft or the airline.
Normal operations at the airport were interrupted for a time by the unauthorized takeoff but have resumed, the airport said in its tweet.

Wtf?

Yep, I'm stuck on the tarmac at SeaTac right now on an inbound Alaska flight right now waiting for our gate to clear. The just reopened the airport a few minutes ago - we've been stuck on the tarmac for about 40 minutes so far...

It was apparently a suicide. At least one F-15 fighter was chasing the stolen plane. Bucky sent me a twitter link with audio of the control tower trying to talk the guy down. The guy apparently admitted to the control tower he was "looney toons".

An aircraft has crashed in Washington state after a mechanic stole it from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the Pierce County Sheriff's office said.

One thing we know is he/she was a mechanic they were paid much more than minimum wage.

Yes, I'm listening to the audio now. Wow, just wow.

Sorry you got caught up in it.

We were stuck on the ground for an hour and a half after landing. Coulda been worse - one of the flight attendants told me as I was headed up the jetway that we were almost diverted to PDX!

How is a mechanic making only minimum wage? That's a skilled job now.
