YouTube, Apple and Facebook remove content from InfoWars and Alex Jones

you are lost

Do tell me, Master: What exactly gives you the credibility to say that? If you're gonna come swinging like that, you'd better be ready to back it up.

Sorry to interrupt but...I'm just ITCHING to ask...

"That avatar of yours...was it made for Vulcans?"

He censors far left liberals.

There's nothing being forced, private companies are making decisions not to carry Alex Jones. You are the one complaining about it. I just used Hannity as a comparison of how you don't care if far right folks don't carry far left views on their shows. So why do you care what private companies carry then? You sure in the hell don't care about fairness as I have proven.

Using Hannity to compare to Google etc. Is false. Hannity and Jones are content creators. Google, etc. provide access to that content but are not the creators of that content. Criticising Google, etc. for dropping Jones is not comparable to Hannity's chosen guests in any way.

Do you use your business to provide access to Michael Moore?

Does Fox News have an obligation to broadcast Michael Moore's show for him?

Spoken like someone who doesn't defend freedom of speech.

Those who celebrate this deplatforming should have taken a civics course. Free speech is more than just your first amendment rights against Government doing this, its also a goddamn civic virtue.

There is the letter of the law, and then there is the spirit of the law.

Only cowards seek to cut out a man's tongue, letting everyone know that you fear what he has to say.

Its not okay because its "Alex Jones, he's just a Conspiracy Theorist!" If you don't support the free speech of your enemies, you don't support free speech.

Also, if you think free speech doesn't apply to private corporations engaging in censorship, please look up Marsh v Alabama.
You need to understand that the person you're quoting thinks people he disagrees with politically should lose their right to free speech.

I don't visit Infowars and don't care for Alex Jones, but it's always disturbing when sites are silenced due to their ideology. It may not be the government doing it, but it's still censorship.

Red:
  1. I don't know how you can credibly assert, notwithstanding what you may suspect moreover sans a sound/cogent argument, that the site's/Jones' ideology had anything to do with it, unless, of course, you soundly/cogently argue that Infowars/Jones has adhered to the policy guidelines to which he/Infowars agreed when establishing an account with the platform providers.
    From the article:
    • Facebook -- "Upon review, we have taken it down for glorifying violence ... and using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies. While much of the discussion around InfoWars has been related to false news ... none of the violations that spurred today's removals were related to this."
    • YouTube -- "When users violate ... policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts."
  2. Even were one (you or others) to soundly/cogently show that the service cancellations YouTube and Facebook have implemented re: Jones/Infowars are ideologically driven, so what? They are not bound by the the 1st Amendment and there are alternative platforms to theirs. Simply put, private organizations and individuals can permit and proscribe whatever behavior and speech they want within the confines of their domain/property. Nobody is required to allow or lend their own name, facilities, renown and/or reputation to be used by another to further that other person's/entity's objectives. (That was made patently clear in "Masterpiece")

No. That's not good enough. You think you know my position on the First Amendment when you haven't even scratched the surface.

You know better than to attack an opponent's position when you haven't even taken the time to understand what that position is. Your doing so is a clear sign of a failing argument.

Haha...this is hillarious..Facebook, Google and YouTube colluded and shut Jones down

Hilarious?

No. This is blatant censorship by multiple private entities working in concert to erase someone from the internet. You should be alarmed.

Tell me, what would you say if, instead of Infowars, it was HuffPo...or the WSJ...or Wapo...or a Democratic President...Democratic Congressmen...that was removed from all of those sites? Would you accept that?

InfoWars is not a news organization. They were not silenced because of their "ideology", they were quelled because of, well, in YouTube's words, "...When users violate ... policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts," said a spokesperson for YouTube....

Holy ****NOT everything in this country is about freedom of speech.

NeverTrump, you don't understand. /s The Far Right only believes in two Constitutional rights: Hate speech for Nazis, and unlimited gun rights.

Hell they don't even take the time to read the rest of the First Amendment whose current interpretation even gives those free speech rights to Nazis!

your position on the 1st amendment was posted by you!, and that position was freedom of speech.

however in another post you wish to use the power of law to shut down speech you deem as propaganda........

you need to do a self elevation of your own thoughts.

And God forbid you go against the GEOTUS when a Republican. But to be fair, I think some do know Nazis have free speech. I personally think Nazis have no place in you know AMERICA, but that's a different discussion.

I'm not in the business of providing internet content to anyone, so no.

Fox News creates their own content.

You're not just not in the ballpark; you're not even on the right planet. Try again. What is my position on freedom of the press?

I don't watch or listen to Hannity, so can't really answer that part.

By denying Alex Jones these very popular and widespread platforms, it is censoring him. I also note these platforms don't seem to mind carrying all sorts of other bull****.
Yeah, well it's the call of those platforms as to whether Jones has a soapbox, not you.

Facebook, YT, Twitter, all have community guidelines that are almost impossible to break. They are very tolerant of all points of view, even when they are being accused by the very users who are openly breaking the rules of "censoring" them.

I know Jones has been warned by YT about videos that promote harassment and strongly imply violence, but he continued to do it anyways, so they finally had enough and kicked him out.

Wow, really? Who knew?

If it's okay with you I'll just keep stating my opinion on things posted on this site. Please let me know if that's going to be a problem for you.

:lamo you cant even see your own hypocrisy.

Still waiting on you to tell me what my position is. And it's becoming clear that I'm unlikely to get a straight answer from you on that question.

Conservatives would rather mindlessly cite an amendment they don't understand, than to practice some of that personal responsibility they preach.

If Jones hadn't kept posting videos of him openly harassing people, he'd still be allowed on YT to be his stupid old self.

I'm not in the business of providing internet content to anyone, so no.

Fox News creates their own content.

So content creators have free speech rights that mean all content platforms, regardless of type, must host literally anyone who demands it. Youtube must host pornography, or else free speech is doomed.

Facebook and Youtube create their own content too. Why don't you give a **** about their rights?
