Manafort's defense plan: Pin the crimes on Rick Gates

I hadn't read this anywhere. Got a link to verify what you're saying is fact?

You know some things should be obvious enough. Hiring someone like Manafort after a stint like his in the Ukraine is just clueless. But apparently they did warn him after shortly after he became the Republican nominee.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/report-fbi-warned-trump-russians-may-infiltrate-his-campaign-in-2016
FBI officials warned Donald Trump shortly after he became the Republican nominee last year that Russians might try to infiltrate his presidential campaign, NBC News reports, citing government officials. Both Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton were given a high-level counterintelligence briefing by top FBI officials, who told them foreign adversaries, including Russia, were likely to spy on and try to influence their campaigns, according to the report. They were both advised to notify the FBI about any suspicious proposals to their campaigns. Trump was reportedly “briefed and warned” about threats from Russia in particular. At the time of the briefing, the FBI was already aware of contacts between Trump’s campaign and Russia, and at least seven Trump campaign officials had communicated with Russians or figures linked to Russia—though these interactions were apparently not reported to the FBI.

Manafort is going down hard...He should have cut a deal......He won't do well in prison .....LOL

True, that is not what was originally claimed.

Roseann :twocents:

I've noticed that some posters don't expect their statements to be fact checked by others. :wink2:
Too bad for them... lolz

:wink2: Perhaps, that is due to the fact... that actual facts are not really a high priority? What's bad is> a high priority preference to use simple statements that fit a particular narrative.

Fact:...Manafort is Guilty....Fact:...He will serve prison time...Fact : He might get his ass beat daily there

Fact:...Manafort is Guilty....Fact:...He will serve prison time...Fact : He might get his ass beat daily there

Fact:.... we weren't talking about Manafort's status.

Since the case does not touch the 2016 election at all, what is Trump so anxious about?
He's worried that Manafort might cut a deal with Mueller on campaign issues, in exchange for a reduced sentence.

But that's not what you originally claimed.

Everybody gets the standard talk in the beginning of the primary season about being careful with foreign contacts or money , yada yada and all that stuff. Once the candidates secure their nominations they were briefed in far more detailed information about foreign threats. They asked both campaigns to tell them about any foreign actors or governments making suspicious offers of assistance. So this FBI briefing was the Trump’s campaign last opportunity to tell the FBI about the Trump Tower meeting and PapaD’s and Carter Page’s misguided foreign travel adventures. But instead they chose to keep that all to themselves. So I would say that it really didn’t matter what the FBI told them or didn’t tell them. They already made their decision as to which path they were going to follow and wasn’t the righteous one.

I asked for a link, not a back peddling paragraph.
I get it. You don't have a link that proves what you originally claimed..

Obviously, they relied more on Manafort's resume from working on previous campaigns and as a result decided to do only a basic vetting.
Which was exactly the point ...

I'm going to come back to this thread and humbly eat my words if this happens, but I don't think there will be anymore indictments.
I'm suspecting there will be a final round, thinking there might be financial improprieties at the least, but I won't argue the point. Mueller works in a vacuum, and I surely can't read him.

Here is a Fact for you... Trix and I were not discussing Manafort.

Note: Holding up a sarcasm sign for sentence #1. :2razz:

1. Hopefully you didn't get your info from a telephone psychic or a fortune teller because it would have been a waste of money.(imho)

Manafort as of this date is consider to be> innocent until proven guilty in a United States Court of Law.

You can get back to me and gloat when the trial is over and he is legally found guilty in a Court of Law.

Then you can imagine him factually getting beat daily in prison.

What you really want is what every Trumpet wants. To only be told things that you want to hear. Mr Manafort will have to make up his mind soon about what it is he wants to do. Because this being the “rocket docket “ he isn’t going to have as much time as he thinks he may have to think about the 300 years worth of the counts he’s looking at now. Because this trial is going to be relatively short and sweet.

Which was exactly the point ...

Well yeah, but that also does not infer that the Trump campaign KNEW that Manafort was crooked.

I see you still have no link...

I hope you won't be disappointed if there are no further Trump family indictments.

They knew Flynn was crooked, hired him anyway, and wouldn't you know it, they indicted him, and he had to resign. Oops!

It's Trump's responsibility to hire good people. He's hired felons and morons that have had to resign due to legal troubles, or were ousted purely because of their complete and total lack of ethics (Pruitt).
Others have resigned because...well, because they disagree with everything Trump says and does.

Comey of course, was fired for this Russer thing. And Trump told the Russians in the oval office "a cloud has been lifted".

Nah, Trump has done enough for us to judge him. Any other role in the U.S. would have seen him to the exit door after just a few months. It's only because Russians helped him win and he was elected POTUS, that we have to endure a criminal maniac, because POTUS is hard as hell to remove apparently, if the person in the role has no shame. Anyone else would have been forced to resign, step down, or otherwise vacate the premises.

Sadly we'll have to wait for good men and women to see this done the long way.

Where did you see that I wrote that you can't judge him?
If it weren't for the non-stop daily Trump judging there'd be hardly any posts in this forum.

Btw, I judge him too but I actually am content to wait until the fat lady sings... Even the president deserves due process under the law.
I am also not for ending the Mueller probe. I want to know it all...

You're not a court of law.
I'm not a court of law.
Voting for Trump is not a matter of a court of law.
Trump resigning is voluntary.
House impeaching him based on current evidence is not a court of law.

Keep talking about courts, we're talking about a sitting president that shouldn't be sitting where he is.

Trump gets a daily deluge of attacks because he intentionally drives the daily news cycle with his antics, tweets, policies, staff choices, love of Putin, obstruction of justice, lies, etc.
Don't blame the people who react to it, blame the source.
