AG Jeff Sessions Announes Religious Liberty Task Force

Wow, I'm surprised you're willing to ignore what could be a special AG force used to uphold religious views. This should NEVER exist in a country where religion should not be in bed with government.

I guess we disagree about the seriousness of this task force. I view it as a political stunt, and nothing more.

And the fact is religious liberty is protected by the 1A and that's an honestly good thing, so there's no advantage in protesting a 'task force' protecting what is a 1A right. If they announce the DoJ will e.g. decline to prosecute discrimination against LGBT, that's got to be met with protest, but I just don't see it happening.

I was assume those on the right, that believes in the Constitution, will join those on the left to denounce this abhorrent move by the AG.

The Christians have God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Saints and Apolstles, and all the angels in Heaven in their corner, yet they still need help from the government. It's telling that they have so little faith in their Faith.

The problem is the creation of a force tied to religious beliefs. We already have police and courts that enforce laws that protect against religious discrimination. Empowering a group just for that is dangerous and reminds me of Middle Eastern theocracies.

The task force must not violate the Constitution -- we know that.

However, it can protect those of faith to believe as they so choose. And, it will protect Muslims as much as it will protect Christians. You're never going to get all people to agree. What this comes down to (I'm guessing) is the idea that if Christians and Muslims don't want to specifically cater to LBGT they won't be forced to do so. There's nothing wrong with that -- as long as their business does not take any sort of taxpayer funding. If it does, it will have to comply. Government businesses will also have to comply. In cases when pharmacists are religiously opposed to handing out morning-after pills, they can simply have another pharmacist ready to step up. We can accommodate everyone.

Instead of trying to force those backward people, we just need to help the businesses that do not discriminate. Only a tiny segment of religions are so backwards, but they ARE entitled to their beliefs without being labeled "hate groups." Freedom of Religion means the freedom to practice your religion the way you believe it was intended.

LBGT is already accepted in society -- these people are not going to turn back the clock. But, we also need to accept them.

That's what this nation is all about after all.
